Here's Everything We Loved In The Gutsy And Thrilling 'Ek Thi Begum' On MX Player

Quarantine Blues â thatâs a real emotion weâve all been feeling. While some of you are dealing with it by engrossing yourself in reading and cooking, weâve resorted to binge-watching. After spending the good part of the month catching up on the latest shows, we decided to take a break from cliché trends and beat the quarantine blues with a gripping underworld saga Ek Thi Begum on MX Player.

Another MX Original to capture our attention, EK Thi Begum is a scorned womanâs tale of revenge and betrayal. And oh boy, this begum doesnât disappoint. The show stars actress Anuja Sathe as Begum Ashraf Bhatkar aka Sapna, while her husband Zaheer is played by Ankit Mohan. The most sought-after underworld kingpin, Maqsood, is played by actor Ajay Gehi.

The Bombay You Never Knew

Most of us millennials will never relate to the old stories of crime and fear that gripped Mumbai (Bombay then) during the 1980s. Underworld gangs, smugglers and gang wars â it was a time when organised crime was at its peak. The underground city of crime boasted of names that were feared even by the most powerful of men. Ek Thi Begum takes off with this narrative and gives us an insight into the Bombay we never knew. It gives us the grimmest antagonist Maqsood.

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned

At a time when the underground city of crime was largely dominated by men, Begum Ashraf Bhatkar aka Sapna foils a plan of death and disruption to avenge her husbandâs death. The man responsible, Maqsood, is not an easy target, but Begum Ashraf is a woman on a mission. She rises above her sorrows and her struggles to become the Mafia Queen of her time. Begum Ashraf is ruthless, she is gutsy and she will not stop until she has reached the top.

Actress Anuja Sathe has captured the wide range of emotions in this show with finesse. This gripping revenge saga is inspired by true events and if that doesn't get you intrigued nothing else will.

A Bilingual Ensemble Cast Like No Other

Ek Thi Begum is available for streaming in Hindi as well as Marathi. And the robust ensemble cast includes names like Ankit Mohan, Chinmay Mandlekar, Rajendra Shisatkar, Resham, Abhijeet Chavan, Pradip Doiphode, Vithal Kale, Nazarr Khan, Vijay Nikam, Anil Nagarkar, Suchit Jadhav, Raju Aathavale and Santosh Juvekaramongst others in pivotal roles.
