While it’s not going to be the next installment in the series, A Song of Fire and Ice, it is going to be a Game of Thrones book alright. Called The Book Of Swords, George R.R. Martin is all set to give fans across the world a new Game of Thrones book to keep themselves occupied and mildly satiated till the real deal comes along.

A never-before-released history of Westeros is what the book is going to be about and will consist of sixteen stories explaining majow character and plot developments. One of these stories is going to be titled, The Sons Of The Dragons. The story will trace the history and becoming of Aenys I Targaryen and Maegor the Cruel, the second and third Targaryen kings to rule from the Iron Throne.

The stories in the book have been put together using material that was set aside while the author had been writing The World of Ice and Fire which tells the story of the two sons of Aegon the Conqueror, Aenys and Maegor. Martin informs that the new book will read like a history, instead of a narrative, like the books in the series. 

The book which is being published under the Penguin Random House banner, is going to be released on October 10th 2017 and is already up for pre-order.
