Google's Pixel 5 Rumoured To Be Slower Than Pixel 4 & Is Said To Have Pixel 2's Camera

Google's Pixel line up has been somewhat lacklustre in terms of the hardware. We didn't even get the Pixel 4 in India this time and we're still waiting for the Pixel 4a to come here.Β

Well, in the meantime we're now hearing new rumours about the Pixel 5.

In case you didn't get the memo, it's worth knowing the Pixel 5 is expected to be a mid-range device. It's said to have a 90Hz display on the front, a Snapdragon 765G SoC, and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage.Β

Another leak from Reddit showed an image of the Pixel 5 alongside the Pixel 4a and it looks, well, just like the larger Pixel 4a.Β

The disappointing part is that the Redditor said theΒ Pixel 5 will have an additional camera but it'll be a wide-angle lens instead of a telephoto. The main camera is said to be a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor, which is the same as the one seen on Pixel 2 that came out like 3 years ago.

Yes, the Pixel camera has gotten better thanks to the software features, but it's been slacking in terms of the hardware.

Round-Up

Now, if you round up the rumours from multiple sources, it looks like the Pixel 5 is going to be a mid-range phone with a mid-range processor.Β

It means it's going to be slower than the Pixel 4 that comes with a Snapdragon 855 SoC. And in terms of the camera, we're apparently looking at a very old sensor from the Pixel 2.Β

This whole comparison is because of Google's decision to transition from flagship to a mid-range phone. That's what is making people make these weird comparisons but it'll be sad to be if these turn out true.Β

But with all that being said, all these are still rumours and we still have to wait for an official announcement to know exactly what's happening.Β
