I am sure after reading this headline a lot of men must have gone all “what the ****? This is garbage!” But here’s the thing, at least now you see how ridiculous it is when such laws are imposed on women too. Welcome to the ‘ban’ club, guys.

Notorious for banning mobiles and jeans for women, the Khap Panchayat in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh has now gone ahead and banned men from wearing shorts in public.

During a discussion held by a panchayat of several important khaps, this matter was brought to light following several complains from women. 

“We had put a ban on wearing jeans by girls in the villages and we got 90% success in this. Now, due to several complains from the girls, we want to bar youths from wearing short pants,” Chief of Balyan Khap, Naresh Tikait announced. 

He further asserted that if any man was sported in shorts in public, his name and address would be taken down and appropriate action would be taken against the defaulter.

However, Tikait also added that the diktat was not exactly an order and more of an 'advice', stating that imposing such restrictions only on women was not exactly a solution.

Thing is, if this is only advice, then why the threat of punishment?
