Last week, the musical world was left shocked and devastated when the news of legendary singer Chris Cornell’s suicide came to light. The entire music fraternity came together to express their sorrow for the singer’s death.

And over the next few days, some of the world’s most revered rock bands came together in solace for Cornell, to pay tribute to his music, his work and his life.

Here are some of the best tributes to the late artist.

1. Ryan Adams

The singer covered one of Soundgarden’s most popular tracks, ‘Black Hole Sun’ at Auckland, in New Zealand. And it gives you the chills. It’s no Cornell. But, it’s one of the most fitting tributes to the artist.

2. U2

‘Running To Stand Still’ in Bono’s voice is literally everything. And it will reach out to the deepest corner of your heart. I always loved this song of U2’s. And Bono recreates it in a unique, yet magical way, at his performance at the Joshua Tree Concert 2017, at Rose Bowl. Pause for a minute while I grab a tissue.

3. Aerosmith

When Aerosmith covers one of the most iconic songs, it sticks like nothing else. With Steve Tyler’s unreal vocals, ‘Black Hole Sun’ gets a whole new meaning. The band did complete justice to Cornell’s voice; given that even their vocal chords are oddly similar. And then, after a moment of silence dedicated to Cornell, Aerosmith picks it up with ‘Dream On’ and it’s the most real thing you feel.

4. Red Hot Chilli Peppers

The rock band covered Cornell’s ‘Seasons’ at a live performance in Indianapolis and it’s beautiful. Cornell lent a little bit of his soul to all the music he ever made and performed and to see some of the best rock bands cover those songs as an ode to the late singer, while keeping the soul of the song intact is brilliant.

5. Megadeth

At their gig in Tokyo, Japan, on the same day that Cornell died, Dave Mustaine starts out by expressing his grief over Cornell’s death and talks about how the world has lost one of the most beautiful voices in rock and history. He adds, “I love you Chris. I’ll see you one day up in heaven.”
