Netflix Has Added An Audio-Only Mode & Now We Can't Wait To Just Listen To Our Favorite Shows

What if we told you that you'll now be able to just listen to your favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix as if it's a podcast or an audiobook? Sounds super weird, right? But it turns out, a lot of people are interested in that features and hence Netflix has started rolling out an audio-only mode.

Once this feature goes live for everyone, you'll be able to see an option called "video off" at the top of the full-screen video player. Hit that and you'll see a black screen with all of the playback controls, like a scrub bar, forward and backward buttons. Here, take a look -

With this feature, it is clear that Netflix wants to give more options to its existing subscribers and potential subs for consuming their content. Believe it or not, there's a huge market for audio-only content and that's exactly where Netflix is trying to enter.

The audio industry is having a bit of a moment right now. There's an increase in demand for podcasts and audiobooks. Spotify is also putting more effort into its podcast division. Heck, even Twitter now lets you launch live audio-only broadcasts from Periscope.

It only makes sense for Netflix to add this option. It's perfect for attracting more people who can now consume their content in a different form, especially when they can't fully give their attention to a screen.

It's worth pointing out that this feature is only live for some android users for now. It's rolling out for all the Android users soon but we don't know about its availability on iOS. And in case you are looking for some recommendations, then check out this list of shows hereΒ that might be of interest to you.
