KARACHI: After a major power breakdown on first Sehri in Ramazan, citizens in Karachi once again faced outages during Iftar on Sunday.

The lofty claims by K-Electric proved hollow as power supply to several areas in Karachi remained suspended during Iftar as well. These included Malir, Rifa-e-Aam, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulzar Hijri and several other areas.

An extra high-tension line tripped, causing generators in Jamshoro and Hubco power plants to shut down, an NTDC spokesperson said

With temperature already soaring high, citizens were forced to break their fast in the absence of electricity.

Late last night, this city was hit by a major power breakdown, which the K-Electric said resulted from tripping of Jamshoro KV line.

Though power supply to some areas was restored by Sunday morning, a few areas were still awaiting restoration.
