KARACHI: One suspect was killed and another arrested during search operations in various parts of the city on Sunday night, Geo News reported.

A suspect was killed during an exchange of fire between Pirabad police and his accomplices near Kati Pahari area late Sunday night, SP Orangi said, adding that a search operation to catch those who escaped is underway.

According to the SP, the suspect was accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl, Geo News added.

In addition, the tortured body of a woman was found in a house in City Railway Colony, Geo News reported.

On the other hand, police arrested a suspect after he was injured during an encounter near Golimar Chowrangi late last night, SSP Central Muqaddas Haider stated.

The security official mentioned that weapons, cash, and a mobile phone were recovered from the suspect, who was taken into custody as he attempted to loot a citizen.

Two other suspects were detained in Gulshan Iqbal, Geo News reported.

Dacoit dead, drug-seller arrested in Okara

One dacoit was killed during a police encounter in Okara, DPO Hasan Asad Alvi said, as the suspect and his accomplices were robbing people by placing hurdles on the road.

An exchange of fire commenced as soon as the police arrived on scene, resulting in the suspect getting killed by his own accomplices? gunfire, Alvi mentioned.

The killed dacoit, however, could not be identified.

Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) took into custody a drug-seller during a raid conducted near Depalpur Chowk in Okara, ANF stated, adding that 30 kg and 2.4 kg of hashish and opium, respectively, were recovered from the arrestee?s car.

A case has subsequently been registered against the drug-seller, ANF explained.
