We’ve all heard stories of what the future will be. One thing that’s a lot closer to realization than you might imagine is the autopilot feature on cars. Road safety is of prime importance, especially in a country like India where everyone thinks they are Michael Schumacher.

While features like autopilot are taking longer to make a mark in countries like India, in the US, they are already saving lives. Just take a look at this video of a Tesla’s autopilot detecting a crash a couple of cars ahead and slowing down:

Now, this is the kind of technology we should be working on in developing India. Yes, a lot of work needs to be put into the streets before this technology can actually come in handy, but we have to start somewhere, don’t we?

We all remember ‘Logan’, right? Remember the scene where they were going down the highway with self-driving trucks on either side? That’s the fear people have. Since you’ve read so far, it shows you’re concerned. Here’s one of our favourite scenes from ‘Logan’ as a reward:

Also, there is a belief that until the technology is such that everyone can afford it, there is no point in investing in it. But, why? Why not start slow and work towards it? Why wait another 10 years? Who knows how many lives could be saved by such technology. We all know it’s badly needed on our city streets. That’s the question we’re asking today.
