Thereโs no secret that our country has a lot of problems when it comes to the safety of women. There have been repeated cases of sexual crimes and they continue to occur even though the government is trying to address the issue.

However, a Singapore startup "Smartfuture" has developed a necklace that may help women feel safer. Smart futureโs Ivy necklace can be linked to a smartphone and can summon help the moment a victim taps on the necklace. The necklace is capable of sending an emergency signal to guardians/friends and can also make a phone call when youโre in a sticky situation. After tapping the necklace, audio is also recorded so that it can be used in the future as evidence.

The company is currently working with NGOs and with police in cities like New Delhi and Mumbai. Recently, the government requires all smartphone manufacturers sold in India to have a panic button function installed.
The necklace will be available in different colours that have been designed while keeping Indian tastes in mind. The necklace can also double up as a bracelet and has a battery life of six months. Users can replace the battery when the juice runs out.
