Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has managed to embroil himself in yet another social media controversy with a particular statement of his, this time, mentioning former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The former Congress chief's statements are sometimes known to be over the top and he often ends up facing the wrath of members of the opposition party.

Rahul was addressing the Youth Wing of Congress and mentioned that “Scindia would have become the CM had he stayed with Congress but he has become a backbencher in the BJP”. 

He further added, “Scindia had the option to strengthen the organization by working with Congress workers. I told him – One day you will become the Chief Minister. But he chose another route. Write it down, he will never become Chief Minister there. He will have to come back here for that."

Last year, Scindia left everyone shocked after he quit Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. His supporters cried foul over him being sidelined in the MP unit of Congress previously and backed his decision. 

Meanwhile, Rahul’s backbencher comment has become a meme material for everyone on the internet now.

Some people were of the opinion that Scindia and previously, his father posed a threat for the Congress party and were hence sidelined after their talent was actually feared, rather than being appreciated .

And some were convinced that this is yet another stand-up comedy stint from Mr Gandhi.
