PESHAWAR: A video of the city?s finest beating up a taxi driver on the main road has cast a bad light on the much acclaimed ?apolitical and professional? police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A video shot by a bystander a few days ago show officials of the newly formed City Patrolling Force take out a taxi driver from his vehicle and then manhandle him while passersby look on.
The incident took place in the posh area of Defence on Khyber Road, where the US Consulate is located. Sources said the incident followed an altercation between the taxi driver and the driver of another private vehicle.
The incident resulted in a temporary traffic jam on the main road.
When contacted, senior police officials said the perpetrators are being identified through the video and action would be taken against them according to the rules and regulations.
