Β LONDON: India quicks kept South Africa openers subdued in a crunch Group B encounter of the Champions Trophy at the Oval on Sunday, after Virat Kohli won the toss and put the Proteas in to bat first.

The winner of the game would go through to the semifinals, while the loser would be knocked out of the tournament.

India won their first group game against Pakistan but lost to Sri Lanka in the second, while South Africa beat Sri Lanka in their opening game but lost to Pakistan in a rain-shortened game on Wednesday.

All four teams in Group B, namely Pakistan, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka have two points each, turning the last two group games into virtual quarterfinals where the losing teams would be sent home.

Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Monday. From Group A, England and Bangladesh have already secured their berths in the semifinals.
