‘Glad Not To PM CARES’, Brett Lee’s Indian Fans Share Concern Over Where He Donated Rs 44 Lakh

The second wave of the coronavirus in India has led to all sorts of troubles in the country, both for the common people and the sportspersons who became a part of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2021, with the hopes of having a good season, free of ill-health or injuries.

Already, three Australian players have announced their departure from the league for this season and are experiencing an exodus with the lack of support from the Indian and the Australian governments, with regards to their travel plans.

However, when it comes to international concerns being made towards India and the world’s biggest, most devastating COVID-19 outbreak ever, the Aussies have also shown a lot of empathy and willingness to support the cause in whatever way possible.

The greatest example of this was seen earlier in the week when one of the best pacers in the world, Pat Cummins donated $50,000 to PM CARES COVID-Relief Funds with the expectation that the money will be used to buy oxygen cylinders.

"There has been quite a bit of discussion over here as to whether it is appropriate for the IPL to continue while COVID-19 infection rates remain high," Cummins wrote.

"I'm advised that the Indian Government is of the view that playing the IPL while the population is in lockdown provides a few hours of joy and respite each day at an otherwise difficult time for the country.

"As players, we are privileged to have a platform that allows us to reach millions of people that we can use for good. With that in mind, I have made a contribution to the 'PM Cares Fund,' specifically to purchase oxygen supplies for India's hospitals."

A day later, all-time Australian legend Brett Lee announced that he had donated 1 bitcoin towards the same cause which would essentially mean approximately Rs 42 lakh to Crypto Relief.

Tons of fans hopped on to Twitter to ask the former cricketer ‘thanking him’ for not donating the amount to the PM CARES program like Pat:

Thanks for the awesome support, Brett Lee. And thanks for not giving the fund to PM Cares. You are both kind and smart. 🏼
