QUETTA: The Balochistan government will present its budget for fiscal year 2017-18 with a total outlay of Rs321.67 billion today.

Officials in the provincial finance department said that Rs80 billion has been proposed to be allocated for development while Rs38 billion each will be set aside for education and law and order departments.

The health department will receive an amount of Rs35 billion in the provincial budget.

The province will have revenues of Rs24.1 billion under the oil and gas surcharge in the upcoming fiscal year while the remaining funds will come from the federal divisible pool.

An amount of Rs76 billion has also been proposed under the newly created Chief Minister Divisional Development Programme.

Moreover, some 6,000 new vacancies will be created in various provincial departments during the next fiscal year.Β 

The government has also proposed a 10% increase in the salaries of government employees as well as pensions of former employees.

Last year, the government presented a budget of Rs282.77 billion.Β
