Once upon a time, at the stroke of midnight India gained its independence and after almost 69 years at the stroke of midnight, India marks the beginning of its biggest taxation reform with the Goods and Services Tax (GST). 

This monumental move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi boils down to a “One Nation – One Tax – One Market goal” slogan and according to some, its basic agenda is to reunite the market as one common market. 

Addressing the Central Hall of Parliament, PM Modi said that GST was the combined effort of different parties and described it as “Good and Simple Tax”. The entire nation was awake watching PM Modi and President Pranas Mukherjee adressing the issue as our country marks the new beginning of tax reform.
