The first match of the Indian Premier League gave the views a little taste of how the rest of the season is going to look, especially after the 2022 mega auction that completely altered the squads and dressing rooms of the franchises.
For instance, there were a few surprising innings played by people who were being talked down to for their recent slump in performance.
    View this post on Instagram
First, it was the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni who went on the cricket ground and struck a much-awaited half-century in just 38 balls. Giving up captain of the CSK merely a couple of days ahead of the opening-day match, Dhoni was believed to be a lot more confident and focused on his own abilities as a player, without worrying about the rest of the 10-12 people.
And then came an even bigger surprise with the recently dropped Test cricket specialist Ajinkya Rahane, who was made to open the batting order with his teammate and partner Venkatesh Iyer. Rahane not only played an innings completely different from what he is expected to play like in red-ball cricket, but he also struck six 4’s and one 6 on his way to a 44-run batting outing off just 34 deliveries.

Excited and hyped by the way the 33-year old showed strength and resolve to perform at a high level despite the lack of public support and the mental stress of being dropped from the Indian team for not performing well enough, Rahane’s supporters went on Twitter to celebrate his return to the IPL and potentially to the form that he had lost.
Ajinkya Rahane departs after a brilliant 44 in 34 balls. A great return for him in the IPL, he has made the opportunity count. pic.twitter.com/mCuGRH33Xi

But will never be able to straight drive like rahane #KKRHaiTaiyaar #kkr #CSKvKKR pic.twitter.com/9xRS5GwDFe
    — tem_dawood_dolan (@Aditya32303369) March 26, 2022Run rate dropped after Rahane's wicket, what an irony for rahane trollers
    — Straight Cut (@StraightCut_) March 26, 2022This is the Ajinkya Rahane of that Rajasthan Royals I knew and supported
    — Udit (@udit_buch) March 26, 2022Following the first match of IPL 2022, Rahane has played 152 matches within the tournament while having scored a total of 3985 runs with a strike rate of 121.42. He also has two IPL centuries in his name and has struck 28 half-centuries as well.
However, not a lot of people were convinced with all the hype around the Marathi cricketer’s season debut as they might still be scarred from the numerous and consecutive matches in international cricket where he has struggled and failed to add a lot of value to the team he’s playing for.
Thank you for your contribution to Ind Team. Ab hum tujhe IPL mein KKR se khilva Rahe hai. Isko enjoy karo aur Team Ind mein vapis aane ki BAAt mat karna. Dada to Jinks

Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui has come out in support of Vivek Agnihotri and his movie The Kashmir Files amid the movie being stirred in controversy. Starring actors like Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar among others in pivotal roles, The Kashmir Files has really come all guns blazing at the box office.

Such has been the success of the critically-acclaimed film, that it has broken several records at the box office and is all set to enter the Rs. 200 crore club.

The Kashmir Files revolves around the gut-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle & trauma experienced by the Kashmiri Pandits, who had been ousted from the region back in the 90s.
Now, with the movie questioning democracy, religion, politics, and humanity at the time, a lot of the elements in the film have been labeled very controversial and one-sided.
Now, with Bollywood too reportedly staying silent over the film, popular Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddique has offered some support for the movie.

While the actor is yet to watch the film, he's revealed that he will soon follow in the footsteps of many Indians in watching the movie and also spoke on the oppositions faced by the movie.

“People are watching it, so I will also watch it.”
"I have no idea about that. But, every director has a style and point of view for making films. He made a film from his point of view, which is good. Others will also make films from their perspectives, in the future. And, that is great." he said while speaking at the ABP Network’s Ideas of India summit.
Nawaz, who will next be seen in Heropanti 2 opposite Tiger Shroff, also defended Vivek Agnihotri's perspective of making the film, at a time when the director has landed himself in trouble for a police complaint.

"When a filmmaker makes a film, he/she does so from his perspective, with a unique style of viewing things. It should be allowed for any filmmaker to add their own perspective even to films based on real incidents. I cannot speak any more on this as I have not watched the film." he said.

The Kashmir Files has created such a huge wave in Indian cinemas that even Akshay Kumar has accepted defeat, with his movie Bachchan Pandey being humbled by the Vivek Agnihotri film.

Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian captain and cricket analyst, believes that now that the captaincy is off his shoulders, Virat Kohli may be able to return to his greatest form with the bat and may go on a run-scoring rampage this season.
Gavaskar believes that with the change in leadership at Royal Challengers Bangalore, the IPL might get to witness Virat Kohli from the 2016 season when he scored over 900 runs.

The focus, though, will stay on Kohli when he plays exclusively as a player in RCB's opening match against Punjab Kings on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Gavaskar stated on Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL, that no one knows whether Kohli will be captain again at this time. When a player is freed of the captaincy, he might sometimes flourish since he isn't worried about the other ten players.
    View this post on Instagram
When a player is a captain, he is also thinking about ten other players, and sometimes even other members of their squad, about their form or lack thereof, and about things that they are not doing well that, if done correctly, will benefit the team, feels Gavaskar.
We might see Kohli again this season, as he did in 2016, when he scored around 1000 runs in the IPL, says the 72-year old veteran of the game. Kohli last captained the RCB in 2012, when he took over from New Zealander Daniel Vettori.

And while it is incredible to see that a fellow legend of the game being so supportive of the prodigal Virat Kohli on his quest to once again find his form with the bat, not a lot of people were completely bought by the idea that the former skipper will simply shake off his bad form and return to his top-form with the flick of the wrist.
2016 ka 50 percent Kohli bhi dikh jaaye i will be more than happy

    — (@Viraaaaaaaaat) March 27, 2022The newly appointed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and his squad are all set to take on Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings with the hopes of getting a fiery start to the season. Last year, despite the RCB doing well during the regular season, they ended up getting run over in the Playoffs. They ended up losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets to bring their journey to sudden death.

Suresh Raina made his debut in the commentary box after going unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The fact that Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a franchise Raina represented for 11 seasons, did not place a bid for him raised a few eyebrows.
Raina played for CSK in every season except for the one in 2020. The southpaw had pulled out of the tournament in the UAE citing personal reasons but it turned into a huge talking point among fans on social media.
    Mr. #IPL #ThatCricketGuy - A sight that truly makes it a #SuperShaam!

    — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) March 26, 2022
There were rumours that Raina was unhappy with the hotel room that he got for the 13th edition of the IPL. The reason that was given was that strict bio-secure protocols made him claustrophobic as he got a room without a balcony.
Former India opening batter Virender Sehwag, while analysing the CSK squad on Cricbuzz, felt that the events that transpired in the UAE in 2020 played a pivotal role behind Raina's exit from the Chennai team.
    “#CSK की Raina से नाराज़गी हो सकती है उनके squad में ना होने की वजह”#IPL2022 के Auction में #SureshRaina रह गए unsold।@VirenderSehwag और @Parthiv9 ने किया Raina के टीम में ना होने के पीछे के कारणों का विश्लेषण, #CricbuzzLive हिन्दी पर।@kreditbee#CricketTwitter #MSDhoni pic.twitter.com/txeO6Ds5lU

"I felt sad for Suresh Raina. He played for so many years in CSK colours, did so much for the team and I felt he should have got a farewell. They could've picked him for 2 crores and played him in a couple of games before saying thank you for your contributions. CSK is known to retain most of their players at the auction but they missed a trick here," Sehwag said.
"Dubai mei jo hua. Suresh Raina chor kar vapas aaye uski vajah se unke rishte kharab hue. (Maybe what happened in Dubai, Raina left the team and came back that might have affected his relations with the team). Fir bhi mai kahunga ek franchise ka ye farz hota hai jab ek khilaadi aapke liye itne saal khele to ek farwell to banta tha unka (But despite all of that for his contributions that he made over the years, he deserved a fitting farewell)," Sehwag added.

"I don't think 2 crore is a huge amount and I don't think they even had a discussion over his base price. It was just that they felt that they didn't want to pick Raina," he concluded.
Well whatever the reason might be behind CSK not going for Raina at the auction, it has not changed 'Chinna Thala' from rooting for the Men in Yellow and lavishing praise on his former skipper MS Dhoni.
Big congratulations to @KKRiders on winning the inaugural match of #IPL2022. Always a treat to watch Mahi bhai @msdhoni get a 50, many more to come from him this season . Also how was my debut commentary #IPL #CSKvKKR
    — Suresh Raina (@ImRaina) March 26, 2022
Dhoni bailed out CSK with an unbeaten half-century in the tournament opener on Saturday (March 26) and took the team to a respectable total after a top-order collapse.
Raina was all praise for Dhoni and took to Twitter to say that the wicket-keeper batter will score many more in this season.

Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files has really worked its magic on viewers across India. Such has been the impact of the film that viewers have even stopped other movies in cinema halls in order for The Kashmir Files to be shown instead of it.

Even Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has admitted defeat that Kashmir Files has led to the drowning of his Bachchan Pandey film in theatres.

Now, the success of the film has also elevated the position and popularity of Vivek Agnihotri, with the director being in the news quite often these days.

However, while he's gotten a lot of praise from people and fans, there have been times that it's not been for the right reasons.
Well, Vivek has landed himself in trouble as he now faces a police complaint about his remark of comparing 'Bhopalis' as 'homosexuals'.
"I was brought up in Bhopal, but I am not Bhopali. The word Bhopali has a different connotation. I will tell you in private or you can ask some Bhopali. If you call someone a Bhopali it means the person is homosexual who has nawabi desires," he said.
Soon after this, a complaint was filed against him at Mumbai’s Versova Police Station on Saturday (March 26). According to reports, it was filed by a 27-year-old PR manager named Rohit Pandey, who is a resident of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
Pandey sought the registration of an urgent FIR against Agnihotri under Sections 153A, 153B, 295A, 298, 500, and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for “insulting” and “disrespecting his native place.
“My client states that he recently got acquainted with the said video and found it extremely shameful and embarrassing as he hails from Bhopal and that he completely vehemently denies and reject the said malicious slander committed by the accused not just against his native city being BHOPAL but has also defamed the whole state of Madhya Pradesh and India,” said the complainant’s advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh.

The advocate also spoke on home Agnihotri "tarnished the reputation of the city, state and country” by “calling Bhopalis as homosexuals” and even "ashamed the homosexual community" as he has “made fun of them”.
