‘Thoda Zada Ho Gaya’ Gavaskar’s Big Prediction On Kohli’s IPL 2022 Season Can’t Convince Fans

Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian captain and cricket analyst, believes that now that the captaincy is off his shoulders, Virat Kohli may be able to return to his greatest form with the bat and may go on a run-scoring rampage this season.

Gavaskar believes that with the change in leadership at Royal Challengers Bangalore, the IPL might get to witness Virat Kohli from the 2016 season when he scored over 900 runs.

The focus, though, will stay on Kohli when he plays exclusively as a player in RCB's opening match against Punjab Kings on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Gavaskar stated on Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL, that no one knows whether Kohli will be captain again at this time. When a player is freed of the captaincy, he might sometimes flourish since he isn't worried about the other ten players.

When a player is a captain, he is also thinking about ten other players, and sometimes even other members of their squad, about their form or lack thereof, and about things that they are not doing well that, if done correctly, will benefit the team, feels Gavaskar.

We might see Kohli again this season, as he did in 2016, when he scored around 1000 runs in the IPL, says the 72-year old veteran of the game. Kohli last captained the RCB in 2012, when he took over from New Zealander Daniel Vettori.

And while it is incredible to see that a fellow legend of the game being so supportive of the prodigal Virat Kohli on his quest to once again find his form with the bat, not a lot of people were completely bought by the idea that the former skipper will simply shake off his bad form and return to his top-form with the flick of the wrist.

2016 ka 50 percent Kohli bhi dikh jaaye i will be more than happy

The newly appointed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and his squad are all set to take on Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings with the hopes of getting a fiery start to the season. Last year, despite the RCB doing well during the regular season, they ended up getting run over in the Playoffs. They ended up losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets to bring their journey to sudden death.
