Former Indian cricketer and ex-Chennai Super Kings star, Suresh Raina talks about picking Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s batting over his skills as the captain of the cricket team while talking about his legacy ahead of the first match of the Indian Premier League.
Just a couple of days after Dhoni announced his decision to step down from the position of CSK skipper and named Ravindra Jadeja as his successor, his former deputy in-change Raina was asked if he preferred MS Dhoni ‘the batter’ or MS Dhoni ‘the captain’ on Star.

The southpaw middle-order batsman suggested that having played under his leadership for both Team India and the CSK, he would pick MS Dhoni ‘the batter’ if he had to pick one simply because he had won so many matches for whichever team he used to represent as the ‘Finisher’.
From winning the World Cup in 2011 with a six to remaining unbeaten at a whopping 183* runs against Sri Lanka while chasing 298 runs in Jaipur in 2005, the man with the most unorthodox-looking shots has, without doubt, played some incredible innings for the country and his franchise.

However, there is a reason why Dhoni is also known as ‘Captain Cool’. Not only does he have one of the most successful. Known for being a tactical mastermind and setting up field tailor-made for whichever batter is on strike, playing around with the batting lineup based on the need of the hour and giving a shot to some of the least expected bowlers at the most crucial times, only to reap the benefits later, Dhoni’s vision as a leader also made him a highly entertaining cricketer to admire and follow.
Looking at the kind of genuine admiration with which Raina continued to feel about Dhoni, despite the fact that he was not picked by the Super Kings during the 2022 mega auction, fans were simply in awe of the bond Raina and Dhoni shared:
Still few csk fans doubt their bond.

    — Rajneesh (@Rajneesh_16) March 26, 2022Just hours after Dhoni had announced his resignation as the CSK captain, a lot of people started speculating that there was a potential rift between Raina and him. This was because of the fact that Raina had written a tweet congratulating Jadeja for taking over CSK leadership but had not mentioned anything about Dhoni relinquishing it.

Venkatesh Iyer featured in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year in the UAE and played only 10 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but his performances in those games earned him a place in the Indian team and the all-rounder has not looked back since. Many fans and cricket experts rate him highly and even feel that he could be the perfect replacement for Hardik Pandya, who has been away from international games for months due to injury.
Iyer's rise in Indian cricket shows how IPL has worked as a platform for youngsters to showcase their skills and get into the Indian team.

The all-rounder is a WWE fan and his favourite superstar is former WWE champion Seth Rollins. Ahead of the IPL 2022 campaign opener, Iyer received a 'special message' from Rollins who wished the all-rounder the best for the upcoming season.
"Venkatesh...my man. It is I, the visionary, the revolutionary, Seth 'Freakin' Rollins. And I am so, no surprises here, that you are a huge fan of mine. My friend, that feels so good. But you got Indian Premier League ahead of you. So you need my blessing to go and grab that cup. So prepare yourself to be blessed by the visionary and go on and burn it down," Rollins said in a video posted on social media by WWE.

It is not the first time when WWE superstars have reacted to the Indian Premier League. Back in 2017, when Mumbai Indians won their third IPL title, WWE legend Triple H had sent a custom title belt to MI.

Coming back to cricket, Iyer scored 370 runs in 10 games at an average of 41.11 last year. He gave KKR solid starts throughout the tournament that helped them to reach the finals in 2021.
The Kolkata-based franchise would be hoping for a similar show from their all-rounder as they are ready to embark on a new journey with new captain Shreyas Iyer at the helm.

The Indian cricket world was shocked when Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to give up his Chennai Super Kings captaincy mere days ahead of the beginning of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Earlier this week, the official Twitter handle of the Chennai franchise issued an official statement in which Dhoni has removed himself from the captain’s position and announced the elite-level all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to be his successor and the face of the franchise going forward.

Overjoyed by the fact that a man of MS Dhoni’s stature felt as if her husband was the right man to replace him as the CSK skipper, Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Ravindrasinh Jadeja, hopped on Facebook to share a heartwarming message for Dhoni, thanking and adoring him for stepping aside and making way to Ravindra Jadeja while also assuring that Dhoni would always remain the ‘Thala’ of the Whistle Podu army.
“Congratulations to You (Ravindra Jadeja) for achieving this feat and u thoroughly deserved it! And thank u very much Mahi bhai for believing in his ability and giving him this opportunity! You’d always remain his leader and shall always be the Thala of the team,” Mrs Jadeja wrote from her official ‘Public Figure’ Facebook page.

Rivaba Jadeja is an active politician who was born in 1990 to businessman Hardev Singh Solanki and Indian Railways employee Prafullaba Solanki. She is also the niece of Hari Singh Solanki, a Congress politician.
Rivaba Jadeja, originally Riva Solanki, graduated from the Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science in Rajkot with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She was the president of the women's section of the Karni Sena before formally joining the BJP in 2019 in the presence of Gujarat Agriculture Minister R C Faldu and MP from Jamnagar, Poonam Madam.

It was at a party that Ravindra Jadeja met his future wife. Rivaba was already a close friend of Jadeja's sister Naina before meeting the Indian all-rounder. The two struck it up during the party and began dating shortly after. They didn't have to wait long before getting engaged on February 5, 2016, at 'Jaddu's Food Field,' a restaurant owned by the batsman himself. The cricketer used his Twitter account to inform his followers of the news.
Nidhyana, their gorgeous baby, was born in 2017, and the couple are now proud parents. They like to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight as much as possible. As a result, they don't post images of their daughter to their social media sites.

"Just a couple of LEGENDS catching up during practice," the RCB's official Twitter account captioned photos from the meeting between Dhoni and Kohli.
Fans were overjoyed to see the two legends of the game finally sharing the same ground once again and were specifically nostalgic about not seeing either of them being a captain in any form or format of cricket.

    — JATIN (@Jatin150Kumar) March 25, 2022South African cricketer Faf du Plessis, who played for Chennai Super Kings for eight seasons before being acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL mega auction last month, will lead the RCB. The Bengaluru side outbid CSK and the Delhi Capitals (DC) for du Plessis' talents, paying INR 7 crore for his services.
The first match between CSK and KKR will be a rematch of last year's final, in which Dhoni captained the Super Kings to their fourth IPL triumph. In the final, the Chennai Super Kings defeated Eoin Morgan's KKR by 27 runs, bringing them closer to the Mumbai Indians in the overall title race. Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will open their season on March 28 against Punjab Kings.
