Gehraiyaan, directed by Shakun Batra, has finally been released. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa in the lead roles, the film premiered on Amazon Prime Video last night and the first audience reactions are already out.
    View this post on Instagram
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film has been cleared with an adult (A) certificate without a single cut by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It marks Shakun’s comeback as a director five years after the much-acclaimed Kapoor & Sons.

As the trailer suggested, Gehraiyaan is a complex relationship drama that revolves around love, infidelity, and betrayal.

The film has been majorly receiving mixed feedback and a section of netizens isn’t too happy with the film. However,Β  fans are hailing the performance of all the cast members. Especially, Deepika and Siddhant are getting an amazing response for their complex roles.Β Β
A user wrote, β€œ#Gehraiyaan is a painfully honest, messy, and complex relationship drama.. kudos to writers & all the performances takes it to another level... it’s @deepikapadukone show all the way.. she shines in climax and how! @shakunbatra never disappoints!”
Another user, who got disappointed after watching the film, tweeted, β€œI had so much expectations out of #Gehraiyaan Never have expectations. That’s all I want to say”.Β
A third Twitter user said, β€œI just woke up... and I still feel shaken by #Gehraiyaan and how brilliant it was. This movie is nothing like what I have seen in Bollywood and I think it really says a lot about Shakun as a director. He's fabulous”.Β
    Here are the reactions:Β

Love her or hate her ..fact remains #DeepikaPadukone nails every role or character u give her . She was brilliant as Alisha in #Gehraiyaan the movie isn't what u had just thought of and it's beyond that. Last one hour of movie and wow πŸ”₯..it's just Deepika Movie πŸŽ₯

I thought #Gehraiyaan was such a bad movie. Ughh. I had such high expectations. Stayed up till 3 am to watch it. What. A. Waste. 😭 Can't expect anything with Struggler Pandey to have a sensible story I guess πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ But Deepika was fab. The only actor worth watching IMHO

#Gehraiyaan A sense of tension between the characters makes it real and intense. Alisha and her dad’s relationship deserves an applause. Loved the sea montages in between the scenes to describe everyone’s emotions. Lastly the music will put you in a different trance 3/3

I’m so so so disappointed in #Gehraiyaan . One Bollywood movie I was looking forward to after ages. I have only one word for it - TOXIC πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

So Bollywood found a DVD of Woody Allen's matchpoint, added some filler and voila! you have #Gehraiyaan

The only "deep" thing here is how deep do you have to go into the belly of this industry to find even 1% originality
    β€” Rohit Sahay (@RajahRohit) February 11, 2022
Its good shakun made #Gehraiyaan seriously only Shoojit Imtiaz Vishal experiments with emotions and drama... There is an audience out here who is waiting for such movies

Kya ho gaya hain bollywood ko give us something else also besides action remakes and biopics

    Watched #Gehraiyaan
If you cut it some slack in terms of logical flaws, it’s a very complex and real story narrated with so much simplicity. Best thing was how it left me hurting after I was done watching it. I honestly thought it will be just another love triangle but NOP!!

Being a huge fan of Kapoor & Sons (2016) and as someone who found Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) quite interesting as a rom-com, I was eagerly looking forward to Shakun Batra’s third directorial stint in Gehraiyaan.Β
He is one filmmaker who has proved time and again that there is no one in Bollywood who can handle relationship dramas as skillfully and with uniqueness & freshness as he can.Β
Gehraiyaan too is a testament to that. The film is about a yoga instructor Alisha (Deepika Padukone), who is in a live-in relationship with her childhood friend Karan (Dhairya Karwa) and shares a broken relationship with her cousin Tia (Ananya Panday).Β Β

Yuzvendra Chahal became the centre of attractionΒ after the conclusion of the second ODI between India and the West Indies.Β
You might be thinking that the leg spinner must have bowled an exceptional spell, but that was not the case.Β
Chahal did bowl well and picked up a wicket, conceding runs at less than five per over during his 10-over spell. However, what made him the talking point was his 'laziness' on the field that prompted a reaction from Team India's white-ball captain Rohit Sharma.Β
    View this post on Instagram
During the closing stages of the match, Rohit was setting the field when he asked Chahal to move. The speed at which the 31-year-old spinner was moving around on the field did not please the skipper one bit and he was heard having a go at Chahal.Β
"Kya hua terko? Bhaag kyun nahi raha hai theek se? Chal udhar bhaag (What happened to you? Why are you not running properly? Go and field there)," Rohit told Chahal.Β

Chahal, who is known for his wit, came up with a hilarious response to Rohit's scolding. "Captain ka hukum sarankhon par (your wish is my command)," Chahal tweeted but later deleted it. Fans took notice of it and shared screenshots of Chahal's tweet.Β Β
Both Chahal and Rohit share great camaraderie on and off the field and are often seen pulling each other's leg on social media.Β Β
The leg spinner was not on Royal Challengers Bangalore's retention list ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctionΒ and he might end up in the same team as Rohit.Β Β
    Talk about role reversal

Chahal was the wrecker-in-chief in the first ODI as he bamboozled the West Indies batter with his leg-spin. He picked up four wickets and set up an easy win for the hosts.Β Β
After the match, Chahal was interviewed by Rohit Sharma and the India captain even joked about the upcoming IPL mega auction that left fans wondering whether the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians will bid for him, as 590 players will go under the hammer in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.

With KL Rahul replacing Ishan Kishan in India's second gameΒ against the West Indies, the vice-captain was anticipated to start the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma. However, the team management surprised everyone by promoting wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant to the top of the order.
Pant took his time at first before breaking a handful of records. His innings was short, as he only managed to score 18 runs. While many praised coach Rahul Dravid and the management for the move, seeing it as a great step, some believe it would hurt Pant, the batsman.
    View this post on Instagram
Sunil Gavaskar, the renowned batsman and former Indian skipper spoke on Team India's reasoning behind the choice during the game's commentary. It was an experiment, and the team is doing it so Pant can take advantage of the field constraints and go hard on the powerplay, according to Gavaskar.Β
According to the Little Master, such moves are a part of the experiments that the Men in Blue will continue to do by the time the 2022 T20 World Cup comes around in October. He further adds that the second ODI may not be the last time we get to see Pant opening the Indian batting lineup and that if in case the southpaw manages to score big at the number one or two spots, it would become his permanent role in the team and the rest of the squad will have to adjust around it.Β
    View this post on Instagram
However, Gavaskar then questioned Sharma’s decision with a pretty valid concern of his own. He wanted to know who will replace Pant as the finisher for the Men in Blue if he does make his spot as the Indian batting opener permanent.Β
Over the last few years, the keeper-batter has established his role in the team as the enforcer, someone who does a lot of damage to the scoreboard in a very short period of time and at the moment the squad isn’t exactly buzzing with power hitters.Β

Yes, Suryakumar Yadav has managed to hold the middle orderΒ with a lot of confidence during the last couple of matches but would the kind of consistency with which he has been playing against a weak West Indies team continue when he faces the bigger competitors like Australia and England during the World Cup? Alternatively, would the Men in Blue look at someone completely different from Suryakumar Yadav as the new finisher for the squad?

There's no disputing that whatever Rishabh Pant does on or off the field, it becomes public news. He knows how to keep the squad in a good attitude, whether it's with his continuous chirps behind the wickets or jokes in the middle of live matches with teammates.Β
Pant's 'IDGAF' demeanour was on full show in the second ODI against West Indies, and it was recorded by photographers. On social media, a photo of Pant laying outside the boundary rope with Deepak Chahar and a few other members of India's support crew has gone viral.Β
    Just Rishabh Pant thinks #INDvWI #INDvsWI pic.twitter.com/6gMYO5JKph
    β€” CRICKET VIDEOS (@AbdullahNeaz) February 9, 2022
The scenes were shot during the time when team vice-captain KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav were on the pitch creating a total as big as possible for the Kieron Pollard side to chase in the second half of the match.
While his teammates were putting all their efforts into batting, Pant had his back towards all the action and was more interested in chatting with teammates and coaching staff members. These pictures seemed to have enraged a few of the Indian cricket team fans, especially because just moments before, team captain Rohit Sharma had promoted him to the opener’s spotΒ and all Pant could manage to score as the top-order batter was 18 runs.

    β€” Crickfootboi (@Crickfootboi11) February 10, 2022How shameless https://t.co/WhL4lAuc7m
β€” Bhargs (@HardLengths) February 9, 2022The general notion among these upset fans is that Pant has become increasingly indisciplined in his demeanour while being on the field and is not afraid of behaving this way because he receives a lot of support from some of the most influential people in the Men in Blue and the Indian cricket board.
Thankfully not everyone was annoyed at the 24-year-old and managed to look at the funnier side of things. Within a day, Pant joined the company of his teammate Yuzvendra Chahal who used to dominate the Indian meme-culture with a similar picture in which he could be seen chilling by the boundary ropes with his shades and training bib on.

β€” P Veeresh (@DRERUSS007) February 9, 2022Negative or positive, the fact remains that Rishabh Pant’s each and every move draws some sort of reaction from the rest of the world. Such polarising reactions only mean that the Roorkee-born lad is on the verge of superstardom. He is the future of Indian cricket and is destined to become a part of the core teamΒ sooner than most think - this, by default, also means that he will face loads of criticism along the way and he will have to be fine with it.
