Kareena Kapoor Khan, who made her debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the 2000 drama Refugee, has established herself as one of the most successful actresses who have stayed in the top league for over two decades now. Apart from films, her personal life too remained in the limelight throughout her career. After her breakup with Shahid Kapoor in 2007, the Jab We Met star started dating Saif Ali Khan while shooting for Tashan. However, did you know that her Tashan co-star Akshay Kumar had warned Saif about dating her during the shoot?Β
    View this post on Instagram
In an interview with Twinkle Khanna, posted on the Tweak India YouTube channel, Kareena has now revealed that when Akshay observed something is brewing between Saif and her, he urged the Omkara star to 'tread cautiously'. He advised Saif to 'not mess' with Kareena because the Kapoors are a "dangerous family".

    View this post on Instagram
Talking about the same, Kareena said, "Saif and Akshay were talking, and Akshay got the vibe that Saif and me were connecting. Akshay took Saif in the corner, and he was like, β€˜Listen, tread carefully. They’re dangerous girls and this is a dangerous family, dekh ke reh’. He was like, β€˜Don’t mess with her’, was his vibe, like, β€˜You’re barking up the wrong tree’. Saif was like, β€˜No, no, I know, I’ll figure her out’".

Well, thank god Saif didn't listen to Akshay. After dating each other for several years, Saif & Kareena finally exchanged wedding vows in 2012 and are now parents to two sons - Taimur and Jeh.Β Β

On the professional front, after Tashan, the happily-married couple worked together in films like Kurbaan and Agent Vinod. However, none of the movies did well at the box office.Β Β
Currently, both Kareena and Saif have several interesting projects in their kitty. Kareena will next be seen opposite Aamir Khan in Advait Chandan's much-hyped film Laal Singh Chaddha. It is the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. She has also signed Hansal Mehta's next, to be produced by Ekta Kapoor.Β Β

Indian cricket has been marred by various controversies in the last six months. Be it Virat Kohli’s alleged fallout with the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly or his resignation from Test captaincy, the last couple of months have given the fans a lot to wonder.
One of the biggest talking points on social media in the Indian cricket community was when a journalist alleged that a β€˜BCCI official’ had been interfering with the team selection matters for quite some time. The journalist claimed that the official bearer did so by inviting himself to the selection committee meeting despite knowing that he had no business of attending those meetings.
For quite some time, a BCCI official kept inviting himself to selection committee meetings even when he knew he should have stayed away.

Captain and coach were helpless. Couldn't do anything. He had no business being there.

I hope such instances are not repeated in the future.
    β€” KSR (@KShriniwasRao) January 26, 2022
At the time, the journalist received a lot of flak as people accused him of spreading misinformation. In fact, not just fans, even veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh called him out and asked him to share with the whole the world the name of the said individual.
They say there is no smoke without fire. And it looks like the journalist’s claim had some sort of truth behind it and if reports are to be believed, that BCCI official was none other than its president Sourav Ganguly.
What's Ganguly's role in selection meeting?
This is clearly against BCCI's constitution. pic.twitter.com/9rjjoLNESq
    β€” Shivam Aks (@AksShivam) January 31, 2022
Recently, a video has gone viral on social media where two sports journalists can be heard criticising the former Indian captain for attending the BCCI selection committee meetings and interfering in the selection process.
After the video started doing rounds on the micro-blogging site, Indian cricket fans started bashing Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah for undermining the role of different stakeholders and ruining Indian cricket.
    Β© Reuters
As per reports, Ganguly and Shah’s extended tenure at the BCCI will come to an end in October this year but given how messed up the situation is, many people are sceptical if they would last that long.

So it was @SGanguly99 who was the BCCI Office guy who was in all selection meetings so far. This was in KSR tweet a few days back also .

Very clear the β€œSource” for Boria & other media houses on selection & other BCCI matters . You’re a disgrace Ganguly. https://t.co/wHxrAfTBBc
β€” Srini (@softsignalout) January 31, 2022This conversation came on TL 5 days ago. At that time, wasn't sure if I should believe it. But with the video which has come out today, if it has even an iota of truth, then the affairs in the board are more messy than what we think.

What a sad state of affairs really. pic.twitter.com/ahqTfrbYSp
β€” Gurkirat Singh Gill (@gurkiratsgill) January 31, 2022First, Shastri's direct attack on Ganguly and second these "Source based", close to BCCI journalists criticizing Ganguly for interfering in selection meetings, I don't think these are meaningless developments.

Getting a feel that Ganguly's days as BCCI president are numbered.
β€” Ricky talks Cricket (@CricRicky) January 31, 2022You know what else is problematic apart from the obvious Ganguly- Shah duo? The presence of Rohit Sharma.

The day a leader decides to share power is the day he loses the room. So many news saying that dressing room is a divided house.

Two lions never ruled a jungle together! https://t.co/dYhornzxAN
β€” Cricketjeevi (@wildcardgyan) February 1, 2022As per the BCCI’s constitution, the board president is not allowed to interfere in the selection matters and if indeed this report has any truth in it, it’s a serious matter. Because by attending the selection meetings, the BCCI president undermines the role of captain, coach and all the five selectors who are charged with picking the squad.

Before making it big in Hindi films, Taapsee PannuΒ was a popular actress in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She made her Hindi film debut with the 2013 hit Chashme Baddoor and went on to reach new heights in her career.Β
Nowadays, she is often addressed as female Akshay Kumar due to her success rate as well as the number of films she churns out in a year.Β
However, did you know it was an Akshay Kumar starrer that turned things around for her and sky-rocketed her career?Β
The film was Neeraj Pandey’s 2015 espionage thriller Baby where Taapsee had a special appearance playing a spy.
Such was the impact of her small role that a separate spin-off based on her character titled Naam Shabana was later made in 2017.Β
    Β© Friday Filmworks
Despite making her Hindi film debut with a successful film in 2013, Taapsee didn’t get many offers and it was her special appearance that gave us the power-packed performer that she is today.Β

Just last year, she had three releases in Haseen Dillruba, Annabelle Sethupathi and Rashmi Rocket. And she is about to start her year with the upcoming Looop Lapeta which will stream on an OTT platform.Β
Post Baby, most of her successful films had her as the central character, her upcoming film Looop LapetaΒ is no different.Β
    Β© Netflix
Addressing the aspect of playing strong central characters in her films, Taapsee told Indian Express, β€œI never really wanted it to go like that. I never only wanted to do films where I am leading the cast. That’s why I tried to do films like Mission Mangal in between. I tried to do Soorma also. But it just so happens that I can only choose from what I get. And, for some reason, I am not getting the parts where I am not really the centre of attention. I really don’t understand why.”

She also talked about how she did Saand Ki Aankh that had Bhumi Pednekar as a parallel lead. She said, β€œI wanted a film where I could share the screen space with more female protagonists. That’s why I went behind that script to get it. Even now when people come and ask me what kind of stuff I’d like to do, I always talk about how I want to do a film where there are multiple characters at the same level. It is just that, for that purpose, the other actors should also be okay to do that.”
    Β© Reliance Entertainment
Further talking about how it was actually a seven-minute role in Baby that turned her career around, Taapsee continued, β€œI really never wanted this message to go out that I am not okay not playing a central part because I have made a career out of a seven-minute role that really did wonders for me. It is more challenging to make your presence felt if you have a lesser screen space and time. And that’s the kind of challenge that, as an actor, excites me. I am just waiting for someone to give me that part, as it is not about the length of the role but the fact that the character’s presence should be felt. Even if you give me only 1-2 scenes, I know I’ll make the most of it.”

Some of the notable films of Taapsee’s career include Pink, Mulk, Manmarziyaan, Badla and Thappad, among others.Β

As for Looop Lapeta, the film will release on Netflix on February 4. Directed by Aakash Bhatia, it is an official remake of a 1998 German film Run Lola Run.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has given a platform to many young aspiring cricketers to showcase their talent at the biggest stage and rub shoulders with some of the finest talents in world cricket.Β
Apart from the opportunity to play with international stars, another thing that comes with an IPL contract is big money. Franchises keep a close eye on domestic performances and players, who do well in first-class cricket, get big bucks.
A story that aptly describes what IPL can do to a raw talent is Mohammed Siraj’s career.Β
His career is a perfect example of how sheer hard work can turn your fortunes around. Son of an auto-rickshaw driver, Siraj’s life changed completely when SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) roped him in for a whopping Rs 2.6 crores in 2017. Next year, SRH let go of the pacer and he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the same amount – Rs 2.6 crores.Β
Miyan Magic was on full display last night.

    Drop a if you enjoyed Siraj’s spell last night. @mdsirajofficial#PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #IPL2021 pic.twitter.com/qleEWv1eXk
    β€” Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 9, 2021
Siraj picked up 11 wickets in his first stint with RCB and one year later, he made his ODI debut for India against Australia in Adelaide.Β Β
Speaking on the RCB podcast, Siraj was asked what he did when he first got picked in the IPL. The Hyderabad-pacer came up with an honest confession and said he bought an iPhone 7 plus and a second-hand Corolla car.Β Β
Siraj said he had an old bike but he didn’t want to drag it around for too long as most of the IPL players own a car. The pacer also added that he did not know how to drive a car so he took his cousin, who knew driving, along with him.Β
    View this post on Instagram
β€œFirst, mai iPhone 7+ liya. Uske baad second-hand car liya Corolla. Car important hai, IPL players ke paas car rehta hai. Platina (bike) kab tak dhakel ke chlegi. (I bought an iPhone 7+. Then bought a second-hand car, Corolla. Car is important. IPL players need to have a car. For how long can I push around a Platina?), Siraj said.Β
β€œI got the Corolla, but I don't even know how to drive it. Then I asked my uncle's son to drive me because he knew how to drive.”
The 27-year-old shared a hilarious anecdote about a trip when people outside spotted him as his car didn’t have an AC and they were driving with windows open.
"Once we went to a function, the Corolla didn't have an AC, think about it. So, we had to keep the glass open and the crowd started waving and cheering Siraj! Siraj! Could not even raise the glass because it was so hot. Then next year, I bought a Mercedes," he added.

Siraj had a forgettable T20I debut in 2017 against New Zealand as he conceded 53 runs in his quota of four overs.

Siraj’s international journey took off when he led the Indian bowling attack in BrisbaneΒ last year. Most of the first-choice players were out injured and Siraj led an inexperienced bowling attack, picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings and helped India register a historic win.Β
He became one of the three players retained by IPL franchise RCB this year ahead of the mega auction along with Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell.Β

The finale of Bigg Boss 15 became a talking point on social media soon after the winner was announced.Β Β
Tejasswi Prakash who took the title home was criticised by many including a number of celebs like Gauahar Khan and Kamya Punjabi.Β Β
Reacting to Tejasswi being announced as the winner beating runner-up Pratik Sehajpal, Gauahar had tweeted, β€œLoL!!! The silence in the studio at the announcement said it all . #bb15 there is only one deserving winner , n the world saw him shine . #PratikSehajpaI you won hearts . Every single guest who went in , you were their fave , the public loves you . Keep your head held high .”

Now, reacting to her win and hitting back at her haters, Tejasswi told ETimes, β€œWhen I saw the video of my journey on the show, I realised that there were a lot of times when things were against me. Strategies and plans were being made against me to throw me off from a position. Till the end and even when I was on stage, nobody in the studio wanted me to win. Till the last moment and till the time, I got the trophy in my hand, everyone was hoping that I lose. However, Ganpati bappa and my followers had other plans. I will always believe that jiske saath koi nahi hota uske saath khuda hota hai.”
    Β© Tejasswi Prakash Instagram
She further added, β€œI believe that I should trust the format of the show and desh ki janta ka pyaar that I am receiving. It doesn’t look fake to me. It is evident that I received more votes. Those doubting this season’s result should cry foul over the previous seasons’ results, too. Also, why should I expect anyone to appreciate my victory? My family and I should be happy that I won and my fans should be happy that their hard work paid off. Why should my haters be happy that I won? My haters will obviously be sad about my victory. They have the right to be sad. Not everyone is going to love me. I am not an ice cream…I am human.”

During her stint on the show, she courted controversy by addressing fellow contestant Shamita Shetty as β€œAunty”. Post that, Tejasswi was criticised on social media. Clearing the air, she said, β€œI didn’t call her aunty…. it was more like slang. Why would I do that to another woman? She doesn’t even look like an aunty. She is so hot. I don’t know about the boys, but I checked her out. I would take tips from her on diet and workout regime.” Tejasswi also added that she apologised to Shamita multiple times.

With the theatrical release of Sooryavanshi, last year, it seemed theatre business was back to normal and things were starting to look great again as far as the big screen experience was concerned.Β
Unfortunately, the happiness didn’t last too long as a month later, the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus led to the shutting down of theatres in the capital city and the release of several films was postponed.Β
This included Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey, Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam, SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Ajith starrer Valimai, Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj and John Abraham starrer Attack, among others.Β
    Β© Hombale Films
However, the sudden postponement of several big-ticket films turned out to be a boon for Allu Arjun and his latest blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise.Β

Now, with things once again getting back to normal, slowly and steadily, the new theatrical release dates for several films have once again been announced.Β
The first noted Hindi film to open in theatres in over a month is Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Badhaai Do, a spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Badhaai Ho.Β
    Β© Twitter/Taran Adarsh
It will be followed by the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s spectacle Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.

However, recently, the new release date of one of the biggest films of the year, SS Rajamouli’s RRR was announced. Post that, a lot of other films’ release dates, mostly Telugu ones, were also announced.Β
    Β© DVV Entertainment
So, here’s a look at the new release calendar of upcoming theatrical releases below:Β

-February 11 - Badhaai Do (Hindi) starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.
-February 11 - Khiladi (Telugu) starring Ravi Teja, Arjun Sarja and Meenakshi Chaudhary.
-February 24 (expected) - Valimai (Tamil, pan-India release) starring Ajith Kumar, Huma Qureshi and Yogi Babu.Β
-February 25 - Gangubai Kathiawadi (Hindi) starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
-March 11 (expected) - Radhe Shyam (pan-India release) starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde.
-March 18 - Bachchan Pandey (Hindi) starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi.Β
-March 25 - Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Hindi) starring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu.Β
-March 25 - RRR (Telugu, pan-India release) starring NTR Jr, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.Β
-April 8 - Dhaakad (Hindi) starring Kangana Ranaut, Divya Dutta and Arjun Rampal.

-April 14 (expected) - Beast (Tamil) starring Vijay and Pooja Hegde.
-April 28 - F3 (Telugu) starring Venkatesh, Varun Tej, Tamannaah and Mehreen Pirzada.Β
-April 29 - Acharya (Telugu) starring Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde and Kajal Aggarwal.
-April 29 - Runway 34 (Hindi) starring Ajay Devgn, Rakulpreet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan.
-April 29 - Heropanti 2 (Hindi) starring Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria.Β
-May 12 - Sarkaru Vaari Paata (Telugu) starring Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh.Β
There is also Bheemla Nayak starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati. The Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum will release either on February 25 or April 1.Β
    Β© Twitter/Taran Adarsh
There are also reports of a Yash Raj Films venture opting for an April 1 release. It could either be Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar or Shamshera. My bet is on the Ranveer Singh starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar.Β

Also, it’s just a matter of time before the makers of Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 change their release date.Β
I don’t think anyone would want to clash with a film like RRR directed by SS Rajamouli of Baahubali films fame.

There is no dearth of young talent in India. Every year we come across budding cricketers who sway us off our feet through their magical performances.
But only a select few of them are able to replicate the same performance at the international level and create the same impact through their performances.
    Β© Reuters
Generally, when a talented youngster enters the senior team, we all expect the selectors and the team management to give him a long rope, so that we can see him succeed at the international level.

Sometimes this strategy works and sometimes it doesn’t. When this philosophy of grooming a bright player at the international level fails, everyone starts asking some really tough questions that are not easy to answer.
    Β© Reuters
Like most other things, people have divided opinion on this issue as well. While many fans and experts believe it’s right to back a player to the hilt, others, like Gautam Gambhir, argue that international cricket is not for grooming, it should be done at domestic level.

During an interaction with Sports Today, the former India opener said that he has always believed in the idea that international cricket is all about delivering, it’s not a place where players can be groomed and taught how to excel.
    View this post on Instagram
Without mincing any words, the former southpaw, who will be seen mentoring Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022, shared his frank opinion and said that when a player is picked to play for the country, he should be able to perform straightaway. If he can’t do that, there is no point in picking him because there are several other players who are waiting in the queue to break into the national team.

β€œI have always believed that international cricket is all about delivering and not grooming someone. Grooming happens in domestic and India A level. When you represent your country, you should be ready to go out there, and perform straightaway,” Gambhir told Sports Today.
Gambhir is right in his own sense but we have seen players establishing themselves as a key member of the squad after struggling in the early part of their career. It’s stories like these that stop the selectors and team management from being so ruthless with the youngsters.
    View this post on Instagram
Take for example India’s limited-over captain Rohit Sharma, who made his international debut back in 2007 but it took him six long years to find his feet in international cricket.
Rohit’s career graph changed completely after he started opening the innings in 2013. Had the selectors and the team management not shown faith in him, we would have never found out what a quality player he was.
There's always an exception in everything. Otherwise if rohit wouldn't have got a chance in 2013, he might have been playing in ranji till now
β€” Rudransh Sharma (@RD_1604) January 31, 2022agr aisa hota to Rohit Sharma kisi sarkari office me poncha laga rha hota
β€” Armaan (@haryyaanvi) January 31, 2022 mentality but if bcci would’ve followed that mentality then rohit sharma would’ve been a vada pav vendor right now.
β€” gautam (@itzgautamm) January 31, 2022After listening to Gambhir, several fans cited Rohit’s example and vehemently rejected his advice because every now and then we have generational talents who take some time to get used to rigours of international cricket. But once they do, they become unstoppable as we saw in Rohit’s case.
However, not everyone was against Gambhir’s advice. Many people acknowledged what the former left-handed batter said was right. Given the intense competition these days, a player can’t be allowed to take his place in the side for granted. It wouldn’t be fair on those waiting on the sidelines.
Absolutely love when GG talks sense.
    β€” Siddhi :) (@_sectumsempra18) January 31, 2022Perfectly said....
    β€” Abyuday (@AbyudayG) January 31, 2022Absolutely right. Spot on.
    β€” vikas jaswal (@vikasjaswal07) January 31, 2022Absolutely agree with @GautamGambhir .
β€” Bhoumik Sao (@mesao07) February 1, 2022Sometimes there is no right or wrong. Both these approaches have their own pros and cons, and it’s up to the decision-makers to determine which philosophy suits Indian cricket better.
