Directed by the Wachowskis, The Matrix released in 1999 changed world cinema forever with its storyline, execution, action sequences and the iconic bullet time scene.
Over the years, a lot of films around the world took inspiration and tried to ape scenes from The Matrix franchise. This also includes Hindi films.
Now, almost two decades after the supposed culmination of the franchise with The Matrix Revolutions in 2003, the makers decided to revisit the universe with The Matrix Resurrections.

Ahead of the film’s release on December 22, here’s a look at 7 Bollywood films that took inspiration from The Matrix franchise:

    1. Awara Paagal Deewana (2002)One of the most popular scenes of The Matrix was the Morphius rescue sequence featuring Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity. In the scene, Neo and Trinity enter a heavily guarded building and take down hoards of guards and agents.
The stylistically shot action scene was blatantly copy-pasted in Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani starrer Awara Paagal Deewana.
In the scene, Akshay Kumar, dressed in similar attire as Neo, enters a building and performs similar action scenes. The plot twist, however, in this case, is that he isn’t Akshay Kumar but the antagonist Rahul Dev wearing Akshay’s mask.
    Watch the scene below:

    2. Jaani Dushman (2002) Now, what can I say about this legendary movie that majorly took inspiration from Terminator 2: Judgment Day and has a sequence featuring Akshay Kumar and Armaan Kohli?
In the film, Armaan Kohli plays a shape-shifting serpent out to avenge the rape and murder of his long-lost love from centuries ago, Manisha Koirala.
In the said sequence, he is fighting Akshay Kumar who takes out arms and ammunition to take down the shapeshifter. The way Armaan Kohli’s character dodges bullets from Akshay Kumar’s character is quite similar to how Neo dodges bullets in The Matrix.
    Watch the scene below:

    3. Main Hoon Na (2004) While not exactly a rip-off, Main Hoon Na does a hilarious spoof on the iconic bullet scene from The Matrix.
The only difference is that here Shah Rukh Khan is dodging a spitting Satish Shah. In fact, Bindu’s character in Main Hoon Na even points out that the scene was in The Matrix.
    Watch the two scenes below:

    4. Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004)Similar to Main Hoon Na, the scene here is supposed to be funny.
In The Matrix Reloaded (2003), Agent Smith attacks Neo along with hundreds of his clones. In Mujhse Shaadi Karogi an intoxicated Salman Khan imagines taking on six Akshay Kumars.
    Watch the two scenes below:

    5. Heyy Babyy (2007)Another spoof on The Matrix, the scene featured Riteish Deshmukh’s character fighting a bunch of kids. The scene is a spoof on Neo fighting Agent Smith clones in The Matrix Reloaded.

In the climax of The Matrix Revolutions, Neo fights thousands of clones of Agent Smith in the rain. The part of the scene inspired a montage in Irrfan starrer Billu also featuring Shah Rukh Khan.

The scene in Billu also takes inspiration from the above-mentioned scene in The Matrix Reloaded.
    7. Krrish 3 (2013) The final fight scene of Krrish 3 takes inspiration from the final fight scenes of Man of Steel as well as The Matrix Revolutions.
Take a look at the two scenes below:

The Matrix Resurrections is directed by Lana Wachowski and also features Priyanka Chopra in the character of Sati.

Ravichandran Ashwin remains one of the most honest and fearless cricketers of this era and has never shied away from talking about his state of mind, regardless of how good or bad his performance remains on the field.
During a conversation with Cricket Monthly, the 35-year old spoke about how he was finding it difficult to make it through a “mental trauma” that he had suffered back in 2017 when he was dropped from the ODI and T20I squads for the Indian cricket team.

Not hiding the toll it took on his mind when the former head coach of the Men in Blue, Ravi Shastri branded Kuldeep Yadav the ‘best overseas spinner’ instead of picking him and losing out on the opportunity to participate in the three-Test series against Australia during the 2018-19 season, due to an injury, he revealed that he was in a pretty bad place mentally.
However, this is where a piece of advice from the former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, helped him fight the demons in his head, focus on becoming an improved version of himself, and make the incredible comeback to international cricket the way he did.

According to Ashwin, Dhoni told him to pay attention to the processes rather than the end result. In essence, Mahi suggested that if he would continue to focus on the different ways in which he could become a better cricketer, the criticism, failure and the dismissal from the team, would turn around into success by default.
Having played for the team on the biggest of stages and tasted successes and failures throughout his career, Ashwin has discovered what it takes to become indifferent towards the idea of not being able to deliver in front of millions and billions of fans.

With utmost confidence, Ashwin added that he felt he had taken care of the process during his recovery and training and it may be because of that, that he has become such an essential part of the Indian squad across the formats despite being in his mid-30s, the age where most of the players tend to retire and fade away.
