    Model and actress Poonam Pandey has always found a way of staying in the news. Be it for her bold statements or speaking up against injustice in any form, Poonam is not the one who’ll mince her words. However, the actress has found herself in the middle of too many controversies in the last decade. Here’s a look at the controversies that engulfed her and kept her in the public eye:

    1. 2011 World Cup ControversyDuring the 2011 World Cup, Poonam grabbed headlines after declaring that she’d strip down if India won the World Cup. She even sent a letter to the BCCI seeking permission. While a lot of media outlets tagged it as a publicity stunt, the model maintained her stand that it was a way of celebrating victory. After not getting the required ‘permission’, she posted some semi-nudes on social media as a special surprise for everyone.

The super talented guy will soon be seen in Bunty Aur Babli 2 opposite Sharvari and also Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji. The trailer has already created the right amount of buzz and fans are excited.

    The actor is currently busy promoting his movie and recently in one of the media outings, he opened up on how Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a part of him fulfilling his dream. “I have a very long relationship with YRF studios. During my college days, a lot of my friends used to come to the studio for auditions or internships so if I ever accompanied them, I always waited outside at a chai tapri and just had chai."
    "No matter how much my friends asked me to come in, I never went in because I had this dream to be invited inside by Aditya Chopra sir and even though it seemed like a far-fetched dream that time, I had decided that it was the only way I was going to go in there if I ever did. And when Bunty Aur Babli 2 happened, it became one of the most special films for me because it made my dream come true”, he added. He had, in fact, shared an old picture from his days of sipping chai outside the YRF studios.

    As India crashed out of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli’s T20 captaincy tenure also came to an end. It’s been less than 24 hours since Kohli ended his captaincy stint in the shortest format but people have already started discussing whether he would retain his ODI job or not.
    While nothing has been made official yet, fans and pundits are convinced that Rohit Sharma would fill Kohli’s shoes in the game's shortest format and the focus has now shifted to what the team hierarchy might look like in the 50-over format.

    According to a report published in The Times Of India, Rohit Sharma, who was Kohli’s white-ball deputy until now, is set to become India’s T20 captain. Not just that, the report also mentions that the Mumbai Indians skipper will also take team’s charge in the ODI format.

    However, Rohit’s name for the T20 captaincy is expected to be made public ahead of the home series against New Zealand, the final decision on ODI captaincy will be taken ahead of the South Africa tour.

    The report also refutes claims that the BCCI was unhappy with Kohli’s limited-overs captaincy and was planning to relieve him of his white-ball captaincy in both formats after the T20 World Cup.

    The reports also stated that Kohli is not under any pressure to relinquish ODI captaincy but he has already made up his mind as he wants to concentrate on his batting and become the best batter in the world.

    “Virat himself will make the announcement. He is of the view that he needs to concentrate on his batting and go back to becoming what he’s always been — the best batsman in the world,” TOI quoted a source as saying.

    “If he had to ever take over as white-ball captain, that time is now. And it’s going to be a win-win for the Indian team because the two senior cricketers are so well in tune with each other,” reported TOI, quoting a source.

    From Australia to England, top teams which have embraced the concept of split-captaincy have appointed the same captain for both white-ball formats and a different leader for the red-ball game and have registered decent results. If we take that as a precedence, it only makes sense that Team India is also looking to follow the same trend.

    In our country captaincy is regarded as a parameter to gauge a player’s stature within the team but if you ask any player it’s just another way of serving the nation. Every time they step out on the field they put the country above themselves and their sole focus is on giving their 100 percent and contributing to the team's victory.
    While players do everything to play as a unit, the fans,who idolise different cricketers don't miss any opportunity to pull each other down and this time was no exception either.

    Sam Bombay, the husband of Indian actress and model Poonam Pandey was arrested by the police on charges of physically assaulting her. As per reports, Poonam is currently admitted to the hospital after suffering head, eye, and other facial injuries from the assault.

    This only goes to show how regardless of one's social, economic stature, domestic abuse is one thing that still goes on in many households. It's hard to believe that it happens so commonly in Bollywood as well, and these popular actresses have been at the receiving end of it.

    I’ve always been taught that one must give credit where it's due. 
    Like when someone has outdone themselves and proved their mettle, or like in the case of Bollywood which has over and over again proved that it is not likely to ever rise above the gender stereotypes created by the society, as it continues to feed into such casual sexism.
    We are saying this after a clip from comedian Kapil Sharma’s show has gone viral which talks about actress Katrina Kaif and whether or not she is ready for marriage.

    Now, with the ongoing speculation around Katrina Kaif and rumoured boyfriend Vicky Kaushal’s wedding, we understand how her marriage was a topic of concern at the show. After all, the nation wants to know.

    But what we didn’t expect to witness, at the hands of Bollywood’s most loved superstar no less, was a display of callous and insensitive sexism, passed along as a joke. 
    During a segment on The Kapil Sharma Show Sooryavanshi star Akshay Kumar and Kapil Sharma pulled out a bunch of utensils and started asking Katrina Kaif if she knew what they’re used for.

    Kapil Sharma, who led this prank, started by saying, “Akshay sir, I wanted to tell you something. Did you know that Katrina did a lot of work during the lockdown? She was busy in the kitchen cooking, she was cleaning the house. Today we take your test. I have called for a few things.” 
    Much to their surprise, from a ladle to a grater, to tongs and a strainer, Kat guessed a few of them right. And that is perhaps when Akshay Kumar’s inner sexist was irked as he remarked, “Ab yeh tyaar hai (Now she's ready).”

    You see, people might think at the glance of this video, that it was a harmless joke after all. But the thing is, in a fit of laughter, what is being normalised is for women to be ideal marriage material only when they know enough about the kitchen and its utensils.

    Because let's face it, no male celebrity who has ever appeared on the show has ever been quizzed on his knowledge or ability to name kitchen utensils. 

    But when it's a woman, it is the only thing that qualifies her as marriage material. 
    What was even more shocking was how Katrina Kaif didn’t object to the tasteless humour and simply giggled along. 
    Perhaps, it’s time that people in the entertainment industry stop creating content at the expense of women and their position in society. Feeding into such stereotypes, even if in good humour, is only widening this gender gap, not bridging it.
