Sam Bombay, the husband of Indian actress and model Poonam Pandey was arrested by the police on charges of physically assaulting her. As per reports, Poonam is currently admitted to the hospital after suffering head, eye, and other facial injuries from the assault.

This only goes to show how regardless of one's social, economic stature, domestic abuse is one thing that still goes on in many households. It's hard to believe that it happens so commonly in Bollywood as well, and these popular actresses have been at the receiving end of it.

One of the most infamous incidents was the one between Aishwarya and Salman Khan, with whom she was in a serious relationship before marrying Abhishek Bachchan.

She broke up with him when things got really bad and even admitted this later. “There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened,” she said in an earlier interview.

Karisma Kapoor is one big star name who was a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur. According to Karisma, Sunjay and his mother would beat her occasionally and he even forced her to sleep with some of his friends on their honeymoon. She later divorced him after 13 years of marriage.

Kangana may be embroiled in controversies every now and then but there was a time when she suffered a lot in her relationship with ex-boyfriend Aditya Pancholi. She had been dating him in the early years of her career.

Speaking to a publication, she once said, “It was a very difficult and very harsh time. I was physically abused. I don’t have to go into details. I felt trapped. You feel people might help you. But there are no free lunches. This man who was my father’s age hit me hard on my head when I was 17. I started bleeding. I took out my sandal and hit his head hard and he started to bleed too.”

Television actress Shweta Tiwari divorced her ex-husband Raja Chaudhary at the age of 27 after things got really out of hand. It was reported that Raja would torture and assault Shweta amid fights between the couple, and later Shweta decided to call it quits with him in 2007.
