Indian skipper Virat Kohli has decided to step down from his role in the shortest format of the game after the 2021 T20 World Cup. He will continue to lead the side in the 50-over and Test cricket. Kohli took to Twitter to announce his decision and explained the rationale behind making such an important call with just over a month left in the start of the T20 World Cup.

“I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket Team to my utmost capability. I thank everyone who has supported me in my journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. I couldn’t have done it without them – the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches and each and every Indian who prayed for us to win,” read Kohli’s statement on Twitter.

The Indian talisman said he made the decision keeping in mind the “immense workload” he has had playing all three formats of the game relentlessly without much break over the last five-six years.
Kohli said he arrived at this decision after a lot of contemplation and discussions with his close people, including head coach Ravi Shastri and his white-ball deputy Rohit Sharma.

“Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all 3 formats and captaining regularly for last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team in Test and ODI Cricket. I have given everything to the Team during my time as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward,” he added.

In the last last one week, there have been multiple reports suggesting that Kohli has decided to give up T20 captaincy after the T20 World Cup in the UAE but the BCCI officials, including secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and vice-president Rajeev Shukla, kept insisting that he was going nowhere.

Despite the fact that this news was doing rounds since last week, no one expected Kohli to drop the bomb all of a sudden via a social media post. Although his decision took his supporters by surprise, they understood why he decided to step down.

Best wishes for the T20 World Cup. I am sure you will bring glory to the country.
    — Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) September 16, 2021I'm sure you must have thought about this before taking such a big decision. No matter what we will keep supporting till you play this game.

Let's win this @T20WorldCup and end the T20I Captaincy on a high.
    — Aditya Saha (@adityakumar4800) September 16, 2021Fair call, all the good luck for getting home both the trophy and also scoring lots and lots of runs :)
    — Nikhil (@CricCrazyNIKS) September 16, 2021Unlucky that no T20 World Cup happened during early years of your captaincy when you were batting like an alien. Hopefully you end it on a high in this World Cup. Best wishes and congratulations on a highly decorated career as India's T20 Captain.
    — Ricky talks cricket (@CricRicky) September 16, 2021Right decision ! You will rock it king ! All the best for T20 WC and all future endeavours !
    — Sanjiv Bajaj (@bajajsanjiv) September 16, 2021You could have waited for next year’s T20 WC skip, but you must have thought something before taking this decision. We all fans respect what you’ve done in T20Is, as a batsman & also as a captain, and will continue to respect.
Lets win this T20 World Cup for him boys, @BCCI.
    — Neelabh (@CricNeelabh) September 16, 2021We became ur fan when you started as a "Player" for the team, not after you became as a "Captain"

We fans always stand with you

    — ℳя. 𓄂வில்லங்கம் (@Vineethian) September 16, 2021Thank you for all your hard work in building this team. This team, India and we fans owe you a lot, champ. It’s difficult to put in words but your contribution is immeasurable and hugely appreciated!!

    Thank you once again!

    Go well skip!
    — Cricketologist (@AMP86793444) September 16, 2021While nothing has been announced yet, it is widely believed that Rohit Sharma is all but certain to take over the T20I captaincy from Kohli after the T20 World Cup ends in November.

The last couple of years have been phenomenal for Rohit Sharma. After dominating limited-overs cricket, the ‘Hitman’ has resurrected his Test career, piling up heaps of runs in different parts of the world.
Rohit is one of the most technically gifted batsmen of this generation but the talent alone is not enough to succeed at the highest level. The reason why he is regarded as one of the best all-format batsmen is because he always wants to improve and works really hard on his technique.
    View this post on Instagram
However, the expectation from Rohit is such that experts feel that there is still room for improvement in his batting, at least in the IPL. Former Indian cricketer and selector Saba Karim feels Rohit may have won back to back trophies but he hasn’t delivered with the bat to his full potential that we know he can.
“There's a need for improvement in his batting. He's the captain and the Mumbai Indians are winning trophies under him, that's a different thing. They have a lot of match-winners so his performances don't get much attention,” YouTube channel Khelneeti.
    © Twitter/Mumbai Indians
“His most important role in the team is as a batsman... This is a peculiar case. Every time he goes to the IPL he's in brilliant form in international cricket but fails to convert it during the tournament,” said the former wicketkeeper.

“I sometimes feel that a player gets consumed too much into captaincy and it's possible his focus wavers from batting. If you are a batsman-captain, your first role is to make runs with the bat. Captaincy gets better with the confidence from batting which has happened in Rohit Sharma’s case as well,” he added.
    © Twitter/IPL
Rohit has guided Mumbai Indians to back-to-back IPL trophies in the last two seasons and they are hoping to become the first team in the history to complete a hat-trick of IPL titles.

Mumbai Indians are one of the most balanced sides in the tournament, with their highlight being their core group of Indian players. The fact that India’s T20 World Cup squad that was announced last week had six Mumbai Indians players in it only shows the quality of their India talent.
    © BCCL
Having so many quality players definitely works to Mumbai’s benefit as the team is not dependent on a single individual but, at the same time, if a player is not performing his performance might not get the same attention as it would have in any other team.

As for Rohit, he was in decent form when the IPL 2021 was postponed in May. With 250 runs from the first seven matches, he was one of the leading run-scorers. He was averaging nearly 36, which is way more than his overall IPL average of 31.49.

So, Saba Karim perhaps didn’t go through his record before passing on his remarks. He reminded us of typical Indian parents who, no matter how hard you work, are never pleased with your efforts.

In another bizarre story, Chinese parents have taken the competition to another level by injecting their children with ‘chicken blood’ to make their kids successful.

The concept of ‘chicken blood’ is not new in Chinese society and this unproven treatment was in great use in the 1950s as people believed that fresh chicken blood would stimulate energy and Chinese people used it as the solution for various illnesses like cancer, infertility, baldness, etc.
However, enthusiasm for it died over the years and the term remained in verbal use and has come to a fad in the new age.
    © BCCL
Now they are using it to be given to the young children of middle-class Chinese parents who want their children to become extremely successful in life.

According to a report in Supching, now the chicken-obsessed parents think that ‘chicken blood injection’ also enhances hyperactivity in children to perform extensively well in academics as well and in sports.
The report also said, “These 'obsessive middle-class Chinese parents' are doing everything to get their children a little extra as much as they can afford. For this, they are spending from 1//4 to 1/2 of their salary on their children. Some are even buying houses near schools in order to reduce the travel time besides getting their children a Chicken blood injection.”
    © BCCL
This concept is also very similar to “Helicopter parenting” that takes place in the US.

What do you think about these parenting styles? Let us know in the comments section below.

With SRK returning to the screens after a hiatus with Pathan, there’s a weird trending term which has taken over social media. Normally we see a positive kind of publicity for a superstar like him and a big budget project but oddly, Twitter has been all about him being bashed in a controversy that’s stirred up a storm.

Turns out, people are digging videos and images from the actor’s past and blaming him collectively for all the apparent hurt and disregard he has caused in terms of speaking in favour of Pakistani cricketers and opening up about intolerance in India. Here’s what these examples look like:
    Before supporting anyone
I am a Proud Indian and Hindu

SRK Called India 'Intolerant' when every Muslim is having full freedom
Says Pakistani players should be picked in IPL

    — CHAKRADHARI (@Chakradhari_9) September 16, 2021 Naturally, like two sides of the same coin, there are some big SRK fans who took this opportunity to highlight how he is actually an asset for the country, and not a disgrace.

Aamir Khan’s journey to fame hasn’t gone unnoticed. And when you are at a level like that of the PK actor, you need top-notch security. But he seems to have taken care of that as his personal bodyguard Yuvraj Ghorpade has been the actor’s shadow. From public events to film sets, Yuvraj is spotted with Aamir everywhere. A bodyguard’s job is certainly risky as they ensure that the celebrity is well-protected and is not in any sort of trouble.
Yuvraj wanted to pursue his career in bodybuilding but things didn’t work out. In an earlier interview with Express Tribune, he had said, “The future was dark for me as I was doing odd jobs for survival until I decided to join Ace Security nine years ago. Today, I am the bodyguard for (the actor-producer-director) Aamir Khan and many of my friends are envious of the fact that I roam with such a big celebrity all the time.”

According to Times Now, he takes home around Rs 2 crore annually to keep the actor safe. His annual salary is way more than our lifetime savings but his job does have massive risks and obviously very little time for his family.

On the professional front, Aamir Khan is gearing up for his upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie that has been the talk of the town will be releasing soon. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of the Hollywood movie Forrest Gump.

On the personal front, Aamir Khan and his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao announced separation after 15 years of being together, in the month of July.

In their joint statement, they said, “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy, and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect, and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalize this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does."
The statement further addressed issues where both Aamir and Kiran would be equal stakeholders. "We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about. A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap. We request our well-wishers for good wishes and blessings and hope that - like us - you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey. Thanks and love, Kiran and Aamir," the statement further added.
The actor married Kiran Rao in 2005 and the couple has a son Azad who was born in 2011.
