It was late Saturday afternoon in India (the golden hour; excuse the poetic reference) when athlete Neeraj Chopra bagged a historic gold medal in men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.Β
He registered his best performance and became the first Indian to win a gold medal in athletics.Β

The 23-year-old world champion from Haryana is being celebrated nationwide for his historic win and record-breaking throw, and his fashion statement is no less than being on-point as well. The internet is already going gaga over his cool looks and even cooler accessories.Β Β

While his wardrobe mostly consists of street-style looks and sporty casual outfits (obviously), he seems to be into stylish timepieces.Β

Clearly, he is a man of class who has an amazing collection of watches that are a steal for every millennial man.Β

His absolute favourite, that he is seen wearing in almost every Instagram picture, is a super stylish white watch from the brand Casio and it’s perfect for every athlete or sportsperson.Β

It’s the Casio G-SHOCK GA 110 which has both analogue and digital display. Why we say is tailor-made for an athlete like Neeraj Chopra is because it has 200-meter water resistance, world time, 1/1000 second stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, and 5 daily alarms as its key features.

The overall look of the watch is quite unique as it has a white bezel and band with a two-tone ethnic tribal pattern. It gives the watch a retro bohemian look and the design is inspired by the 'hippie fashion' from the 60s and 70s.Β

Another add-on features include magnetic resistance and LED light.Β
The watch is currently retailing at Rs 16,300.Β

This watch is apparently his favourite from his watch collection as he seems to wear it all the time. Although Neeraj has been spotted wearing smartwatches and other cool timepieces in his pictures, this one sure stands out because of its classy design, trendy look and features that are fit for an athlete like him.Β

    Isn’t this the coolest watch you’ve seen?Β

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has conquered the digital space completely with his strong performances. His performances are so realistic that you would be completely engrossed in his character. Not just his performances are really raw but his interviews are brutally honest too. He doesn’t mince his words and is quite vocal about his strong opinions.
In an interview with Curly Tales, he was asked if he thinks destiny and luck are more important than hard work, and he was quick to deny it and said he doesn’t believe in it. Nawazuddin has struggled his way to the top and feels that actors who change their names must hate what they are called or maybe are insecure.

He said, β€œPeople work like donkeys... I'm sorry, I shouldn't be saying this, but people who work without using their brains don't get very far. God has given you a brain, if you use it and work hard, then it pays off. I am still unconvinced about the importance of luck. I might change my mind later, but as of this moment, I remain unconvinced.”
Asked if he believes in astrology, he added, β€œNo, I don't believe in anything.” He also showed his arms and said, β€œLook, I don't have any rings or bracelets; I've never worn them." When he was asked about actors who change the spellings of their names, Nawaz said, "They must have some personal agendas, they must hate their names. I love my name, and this is the only correct way to spell it. Or maybe they're insecure."

    Now, this is brutally honest.
Keeping his grounded persona, Nawaz has often given it back to his haters. He faced trolling after Sacred Games 2. In an interview with Pinkvilla when he was asked about the criticism that Sacred Games 2 got, he said, β€œWho are these people? I only take criticism from people who are of my standard. Today, every second person is there to criticize. Yes, I know the show got a little boring but these people criticizing, do they have knowledge of cinema?” He went on to add, β€œI can take criticism when the person has equal or more knowledge of cinema. Won't listen to any aira gaira natu gaira. Anyone criticizes today, I am a trained actor, I do not take criticism from anyone.”

The 2020 Tokyo OlympicsΒ closing ceremony was as beautiful and technologically sound as many people from all over the world had expected out of Japan as a country and it did not disappoint one bit. It also meant that many of the athletes will get to go back home and celebrate the spoils of their victory with their loved ones and get treated like the heroes they are.
Some athletes like Simone BilesΒ got in a car parade down the street where she lives while other winners wrapped their medals around their necks and got drunk in their bus. For the one and only Indian gold medalist at the recently concluded quadrennial tournament Neeraj Chopra, the homecoming is going to be a lot of special.

In a conversation with The Hindustan Times, Neeraj’s mother Saroj Bala revealed the plans to welcome her boy who went away just as another athlete but who’s returning as a heartthrob and an inspiration to a million hearts.
β€œDesi ghee ka choorma” (a local delicacy prepared in clarified butter) will be ready for Neeraj, when he returns, said his mother Saroj Bala.
    View this post on Instagram
β€œChoorma is Neeraj’s favourite, whenever he comes home after a long break, he asks me to prepare choorma, and this time I will again welcome him with choorma as he will be returning with a gold medal,” she added, making no effort to hide her elation.
β€œMost of the time he remains away from home and comes to the village only once or twice in a year. He does not attend even marriages or other important functions in the village,” she said, referring to Chopra’s training schedule mostly keeping him away from home.

At the moment he stepped on the podium after watching the Indian flag being hoisted at the peak with the national anthem playing in the background, he did speak to his uncle Bhim for a brief moment before having to hang up. He did speak to his father on Sunday morning. β€œNeeraj spoke to me only for a few seconds and he was very happy and excited,” said Bhim.
β€œGaad diya Papa lath,” those were the first words that came out of Neeraj’s mouth while speaking to his father after bagging the gold medal at the greatest sporting event in the world.

A man is crediting theΒ Apple WatchΒ for saving his life after suffering a serious fall. The 25-year-old Brandon Schneider is a Peloton sales specialist and someone who is quite active. Besides hiking and riding, Schneider runs five to six times a week and has four marathons under his belt.

Much like other fitness buffs, Schneider tranced his health and progress on hisΒ Apple WatchΒ and now also credits it for saving his life. "I would certainly say that the Apple Watch helped save my life," Schneider toldΒ ABC Chicago.Β

He decided to go to the hospital to get a check-up after he was suffering from severe abdominal pain for days. "This seemed different than anything I really have experienced in the past, and I was in excruciating pain," he said.

He was accompanied by his father who said that during the visit Brandon was only in there for a few minutes when he lost consciousness. "I remember washing my hands and thinking to myself, is something going to happen," Schneider said. "I don't remember falling to the ground, or hitting my head, or anything of the events that followed.”

His father was away to the bathroom when Brandon fell and fortunately, within seconds his Apple Watch alerted his father who was nearby. "My Apple Watch detected a hard fall, and I did not respond to the like haptic message that requires a response and 45 seconds," Schneider said.
Because of the fall and the alert, his father immediately got a hold of the hospital staff. After CT scans it was revealed that along with a fractured skull, Brandon had life-threatening hematomas and had to undergo emergency brain surgery.Β
"And so if I if I weren't in the that in the ER at the time that this occurred, chances are, we might be telling a different story," he said.
The doctors said that Brandon was incredibly lucky as with each and every minute passed, the damage to the bran could increase. It was one of those injuries where the doctors had to approach and get to the surgery as soon as possible to prevent further damage.Β

"Those who have an Apple Watch, may be able to set up their emergency contacts, which I don't know what sparked the idea in me sometime before this incident occurred to make sure I had that setup, but I want to encourage people to do that," he said.

Indian athlete and Olympian Neeraj Chopra created history when he won the country’s first and only gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and also the first Olympic medal in athletics for the country, ever.Β
And while most of the nation celebrated the javelin thrower’s achievement by either tweeting about him or congratulating him with one of his pictures, the Rajputana Rifles regiment of the Indian Army commemorated his top-spot podium finish in their own special way.

The 23-year-old Chopra is an Indian Army junior commissioned officer with 4 Rajputana Rifles, the oldest rifle regiment and one of the senior-most regiments of the Indian Army. The powerful chants by the soldiers from the regiment left the Indian public running out of ways to pay their respect to them and also to the very special athlete who won the gold medal in great fashion.

"But soon realised his potential and recommended his further training in Germany and since past five years he has been training in Germany," he said. Adding, "Purely due to his dedication, focussed approach and hard work, he has performed consistently well over the past five years and reached this stage today."Β
"Congratulations to us all Indians, the Indian Army and Rajputana Rifles. History is created - by the Indian Army yet again. Unfortunate, his mentor Col Dinesh passed away a few weeks back and could not see the end result. Veer Bhogya Vasundhara!" he said.

Moments after winning the medal, Chopra also received a very special call from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "PM Modi told me that you have made the entire country proud and happy and your gold will motivate India's youth to take up sports," he told India Today.Β
He also ended up making a small request from the PM: "I requested him that please support Olympic sports as there is an abundance of talent in our country. Support sports so that we win more medals in Olympics," Neeraj added.

It won’t be fair to say that Neeraj Chopra became an overnight sensation. He was known to be a top-tier athlete for the Indian contingent years before he even qualified for Tokyo Olympics 2020.Β
    View this post on Instagram
However, it is safe to say that his popularity skyrocketed exponentially after he bagged the legendary gold medal. But you can’t truly say that you are famous unless and until you are subjected to some of the most useless comparisons in the world.
For the 23-year-old Neeraj Chopra, that moment finally came when the javelin thrower was finally put against the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli on the basis of how the two ace their respective sports look.
Who said kohli is more handsome than Neeraj Chopra.
    β€” Dr.Tanu (@Enthusiest28) August 8, 2021Kya matlab Neeraj Chopra jyada handsome hai...to kya mere sare add wo karega...#JusticeForSushantSinghRajput pic.twitter.com/wpB43XncKp

β€” Proud Hindu (@Avatar63219900) August 7, 2021Yep, after breaking the national record with a 88.07m throw, being recognised for his contributions to Indian sports with the Arjuna Award and winning the first ever Olympic gold medal for Indian athletics, how good Neeraj Chopra appears physically has become his biggest talking point.
What’s even more β€œimpressive” is the fact that it took the β€œfans” no more than one day since the man won the highest honour he possibly could, to start these comparisons.Β
    View this post on Instagram
On the other hand, the man is also being β€œboycotted” for being a β€œsanghi” after some of his tweets in favour of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral ever since he won the top-stop at the podium and online trolls began to raid his social media accounts.
Criticising an athlete on the basis of their political opinion and not on the basis of their performance in their sport has become more of a norm and was put on display in all its glory during these Olympic Games.
Government should reserve rights to immediately cancel citizenship of these people and detain them, these wokes are not only threat for India but for Human civilization. They've locked comment section, this shows their Aukat #Sanghi pic.twitter.com/8KGHkaEUAK
    β€” kaustubh Choudhary (@kaustubh_2000) August 8, 2021
Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra has managed to remain aloof of all these comparisons and the prejudices being formed in his name. He remains humble, calm and as confident as he was before throwing his final javelin and already knowing what the outcome was going to be even before this spear dug a hole in the ground.Β
β€œI am still processing the feeling. It has not fully sunk in. Maybe when I go to India, I will have a sense of completion and I will understand better how I am feeling,” he said in the press conference after the win.
