Deepika Padukone ignited a frenzy when she did her debut movie in Bollywood with Om Shanti Om. And, from there, she didn't stop and went onto becoming India's national crush. Be it her acting chops or style sensibilities; the numero uno actress has made her mark in the industry. Apart from that, Deepika has been vocal about other matters, including mental health and pay disparity in the Bollywood industry. She is in such a position today that she can dominate the room and demand equal pay, rightfully so.

Very recently, her husband Ranveer Singh signed an upcoming project with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A source reportedly said, "It is Ranveer Singh who has been finalised. An official announcement is in the offing, but yes, a few modalities yet remain to be worked out. Probably post all that, Bhansali will declare. But as things stand today, it is Ranveer."

    © Instagram/Sanjay Leela Bhansali
He would be a part of Bhansali's next Baiju Bawra. In fact, Ranbir and Kartik were also considered for the same but the final name as of now is Ranveer's. However, as per new reports, Deepika was approached for the same movie but is now out of the project. As quoted by Bollywood Hungama, "Apparently, Deepika wants the same remuneration as her husband. Not a penny more, not a penny less." To add more to this, they said, "In a way, it works out for the better. Four Ranveer – Deepika films in a row from Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have been excessive, don't you think?"

India has never been a dominant force in athletics. For a long time, qualifying for global events like the Olympics or World Championships was considered to be a success, even our once in a generation talents like Milkha Singh, PT Usha, Anju Bobby George couldn’t fetch us an Olympic medal. So, winning an Olympic medal was considered to be a far-fetched dream.
    © Twitter PR Sreejesh
The ‘Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh was perhaps the first Indian athlete who gave us belief that even our players could compete with top athletes from around the globe. Throughout his career, he worked hard to achieve his one and only dream of winning an Olympic gold for India. He came close to realising his dream at the 1960 Rome Olympics but missed out on the bronze medal by a fraction of seconds.

After retiring, the star sprinter dreamt of seeing an Indian clinch an Olympic gold medal in a track and field event, it was his last wish but he couldn’t see it fulfilled as he passed away due to COVID-19 a couple of months back.

In a fitting tribute, Neeraj Chopra dedicated his medal to the legendary athlete and expressed he wanted to meet him in person with a Olympic gold around his neck but hoped that he would be rejoicing seeing Indian flag reign supreme in Tokyo.
    © Reuters
Like Milkha Singh, PT Usha was another Indian athlete who missed out on a podium finish by a close margin when she finished fourth in the 400m hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

“When we were in Kourtane, Milkha Singh ji passed away and I felt very bad. I did not meet him when he was alive, and I wanted to meet him with an Olympic medal. Sadly, he's not among us but I hope he's seeing us from above and is happy (medal) that his dream has come true. Even other athletes like PT Usha and others who missed out on a medal by centimeters - I hope they're all happy,” Neeraj said during the virtual press conference.
After Neeraj’s historic triumph, a video of the legendary athlete has gone viral where he could be heard telling former Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju about his last wish.
Milkha Singh ji, aapki last wish poori ho gayi hai!!!

“Ye medal mein Milkha Singh Ji ko dedicate karta hu”- Neeraj Chopra

“God knows how much time I’ve left but this is my last wish -- I want to see a young boy or girl from our country who goes and wins an Olympic gold medal in athletics so that we can see Indian flag flying high with our national anthem playing. If I could see that I would leave happily,” said the sprint legend in the viral video.
After Neeraj dedicated his award to the legendary sprinter, his son Jeev Milkha Singh put out a tweet thanking the javelin thrower for fulfilling the last wish of his late father, before adding that he was crying while typing this tweet and hoped his dad was doing the same from the above.
What a show @Neeraj_chopra1! Dad waited so many years for this to happen. His dream has finally come true with India's first athletic gold.

I am crying as I tweet this. And I am sure dad is crying up above.

The Panipat-born javelin thrower was India’s brightest medal prospect because of his ability to throw consistently over the 85m mark. That said, given the history of Indian athletes at Olympic Games, not many expected him to come home with a gold medal around his neck, including Johannes Vetter -- the No. 1 javelin thrower in the world, who had famously said “I am looking to throw over 90m in Tokyo, so it will be tough for Neeraj to beat me.”

    © Reuters
Never before had we seen an Indian track and field athlete dominate the competition the way Neeraj did. He topped the qualification with a throw of over 86 meter to raise India’s hopes and he went one notch farther during the final and won the country’s first-ever gold medal in emphatic style -- leading the competition from start to finish.

India is roaring Neeraj Chopra's name for his mind-blowing throw last night. He made the country proud by winning the men's javelin and bringing home India's first-ever Olympic athletics gold medal. With the best throw of 87.58 metres, Neeraj has made history.
    © Reuters
Does this sound like a fairytale? All this has been achieved at the age of 23. He was a star at Tokyo's Olympic stadium. Everyone was cheering for him, and the gold was sealed even before he did the best throw. Neeraj has been a consistent performer. In fact, he was also in the spotlight for the junior world championship of 2016, where he did 86.48m throw, which still stands.

After his win, we couldn't hold ourselves back and decided to take a peek at our favourite athlete's Instagram page. It looks like he is not just hailed for his immaculate javelin throw, but he is also a fashion aficionado who knows how to turn heads to his sartorial game.

While Neeraj will have several gifts flooding on his doorstep, we want to take this opportunity and applaud his style sense. These were the 11 times when Neeraj made us say, 'It's GOLD.'

History was created in Tokyo! Neeraj Chopra etched his name in history with golden colours as he became the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medallist in a track and field event. His performance fulfilled the dreams of countless athletes who came before him but just couldn’t lay their hands on an Olympic medal.
Watching the Indian flag flying at the top, with the national anthem playing in the background made billions of optimistic supporters remain glued to their television sets from morning till evening.

Mirabai Chanu gave a historic start to India’s campaign winning a silver medal in weightlifting, giving all of us hope that this could very well be the year when we get to hear the national anthem reverberate in an Olympic stadium after a long gap of 13 years.
Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, making his Olympic debut, came close but was left shattered after he had to contend with a silver medal. Then came a 23-year-old javelin thrower from Haryana who performed like a champion from start to the finish and turned our dream into reality.

Competing against the best in the world, Chopra’s very first throw breached the 87m mark, putting in the lead. After a wonderful start, he improved his performance throwing the javelin to a  distance of 87.58m in his second attempt, which others would fail to breach, earning him the country's first-ever track and field gold medal at an Olympic Games.

The moment billions of Indian supporters had been waiting for -- to hear our national anthem at the Tokyo Olympics -- was finally here. After receiving his gold medal and wearing it around his neck, the moment Chopra turned right to face the Indian tri-colour and to sing India’s national anthem, it gave all of us goosebumps.

With Chopra, billions of Indian supporters also stood up and sang the national anthem with equal passion. Our mode of celebrations might differ, some of us had tears in our eyes, while others damaged their vocal cords screaming on top of their voice, but what we all had in common was mutual gratitude towards the young man from Panipat.

For a former cricketer like Virender Sehwag to tweet “cricket gaya tel lene (to hell with cricket)”, it’s enough to tell you how momentous this occasion was Indian sporting history. The boy from Panipat had turned all of us into a fan and we all celebrated his achievement as our own.

Always being looked at as one of India’s brightest names to be making it to Tokyo Olympics 2020, Neeraj Chopra had no doubt in his mind that he was going to go big or go home. After making it to the final round of men’s javelin throw, the man had his eyes set on the shiny gold medal.
So when it was his turn to throw the spear as far as possible and get his shot at becoming India’s first and only to win a medal in the athletics field at the Olympics, he wanted to end it all with some extra jazz.
Here’s the moment we will remember for eternity! #NeerajChopra’s winning throw that got him the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. pic.twitter.com/ZSwc7U4Xwu

Taking his run up to get the moment, Chopra threw the javelin well behind the scratch line and after maintaining his balance and standing on his two feet, the 23 year old didn’t even look at where he had thrown it.
He simply got up, dusted himself, raised both his hands towards the sky with a cold-blooded expression on his face, and walked back towards his team. He knew what needed to be done and he knew he'd done it.

Neeraj opened his day with a stunning 87.03m throw and managed to make it even better in the second attempt when his javelin struck at the 87.58m mark. With the third and fourth attempt not being counted, the final attempt for the Panipat-born saw him throw a 84.24.
Chopra not only won the gold medal, he won it by defeating the World Rank Number 1, Germany’s Johannes Vetter, who finished 9th in the list. The silver and bronze medal of the event went to Jakub Vadlejch and Vítězslav Veselý, respectively. Both of whom come from the Czech Republic. Vadlejch's best throw of 86.67m, which earned him the silver medal came in his fifth attempt. While Veselý threw 85.44m to finish third.

Being blessed with oily hair is the worst. Don’t wash it for a couple days and you look like your grandma put a bottle of oil in your hair forcefully, which sometimes does happen. It gets even worse when you have an important event or a big date but absolutely no time to wash your hair. That’s when you realise what a bane oily hair is.

    © iStock
You can follow some tips like not fiddling with your hair or combing too much to keep your hair less greasy, but there are times when even that doesn’t help. In case you find yourself going through this struggle often, we have some quick hacks to never have a bad hair day and keep your hair smelling and looking fresh on-the-go.

    © iStock
Here are three fool-proof ways to keep your hair looking good and non-greasy when you have to rush without washing it:

    Sprinkle Dry Shampoo © iStock
The oldest trick in the book is to use dry shampoo when you have no time to use the real one. It’s easy, quick and would help you fake fresh hair. If you do not have dry shampoo, you can also take some baby powder and run it through your scalp until it disappears, making your hair look less greasy and fresher in a giffy. Cornstarch is also another substitute if you don’t have baby powder.

    Blow-Dry Your Mane © iStock
When all fails, grab a blow-dryer and give your flat and oily hair a quick bounce. Brush your hair in the opposite direction while blow-drying it to give it volume and make it look fresh and dryer. If you have long hair, you can also style your hair in a ponytail or a topknot to hide the greasy locks.

The Blotting Paper Hack © iStock
The real problem with greasy hair is greasy scalp, duh. So get to the root of the problem. Quite literally here. Take some blotting paper and dab it on your scalp. Part your hair different ways and press the blotting paper through them so that it absorbs excess oil and makes your hair look less greasy and would be easy to style too.

Dil Chahta Hai was released in the year 2001 and was the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar. The film starred Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna in the lead role. The film showcases the three characters navigating through the heartbreaks of transition into adulthood and also focuses on their almost tangible friendship.

Dil Chahta Hai is one of the best films about friendship in Bollywood. However, Akash played by Aamir Khan is a little weird and raised a lot of red flags that we didn’t notice back then. So, here we go-
    He Is A Man-Child
He is just another man-child who is extremely proud and literally sounded like he didn’t care and is just another entitled rich kid. He is spoilt to an extent that his parents are also dissatisfied with him as he is not driven towards accomplishing anything in life.
Also, no one can blame them for feeling this way!
Every Woman Is A 'Prize' For Him
Every girl is a conquest for him and he can’t seem to take no for an answer from anyone. He also mostly tries and goes out of the way to show women that he is extremely charming but ends up annoying them.
Also, he is such a child that he embarrasses Shalini in front of his entire friend group just to seek her attention.
He Symbolises Toxic Masculinity  © Netflix
He has zero respect for women and he doesn’t care if that girl is his friend or is his friend’s friend. He ill-treats Sameer’s girlfriend and gloats about getting him into major trouble.

    He Is Immature
Even after Akash falls in love, he doesn’t understand why Sid felt offended about his comment. And Akash never reaches out to Sid to apologize. He realizes everything really late.

Bollywood has been notorious when it comes to showing toxic masculinity and gender disparity on the big screen. From the days of Sholay, it’s sad how Bollywood has promoted the idea of approving a ‘susheel’ woman and degrading the women who are independent and strong-headed. In the Bollywood narratives, men are shown to be stalking women or smoking, or doing things that would have been labeled as ‘unsankari’ if a female character was to lead the story.
So, we have zeroed down on five male Bollywood characters wherein if women leads would have anchored the narrative, they would have been bashed for being ‘not-so-susheel’ because it happened when actors like Ratna Pathak Shah did Lipstick Under My Burkha.
    Kabir Singh (Kabir Singh)
Not denying the fact that Shahid Kapoor received backlash for his portrayal of Kabir Singh but if a female lead would have played this character, people would have gone berserk to another level. There are scenes wherein you see Kabir Singh addicted to alcohol and smoking but it was quite acceptable because he was hurting in love. If a woman was heading a similar narrative, she would have been bashed for going against the Indian culture.
    Radhe (Tere Naam)
Back in 2003 when Salman Khan’s Tere Naam was released, people went gaga over a problematic character Radhe that the actor played on the big screen. He is a local goon who stalks and harasses the woman that he is attracted to. He is so obsessed with her that he ruins her engagement and forcefully makes her fall in love with him. This is utter bullshit that we all gave in to. If a woman lead was shown to be obsessing over a guy, she would have been tagged as a ‘psycho lover’ who can’t move on. With Tere Naam, Salman’s Radhe was celebrated as a lover who lost his sanity and sacrificed everything for his ladylove.
    Kundan (Raanjhaana)
Dhanush’s Kundan was one of the most problematic characters that Bollywood writers have ever written. He kept chasing Zoya (Sonam) even after she declined his proposal. Imagine if Zoya would have been playing the role of Kundan and he would have denied her proposal and she kept chasing him, people would have roasted her for being a clingy woman.
    Badri (Badrinath Ki Dulhania)
Varun Dhawan’s Badri is more problematic than you can ever think, but there’s not much dialogue about this particular character. Well, he first stalks Alia Bhatt’s character Vaidehi to a level that she is convinced and says yes to marrying him. On the day of the wedding, she runs away as she always was clear of the fact that she is an ambitious woman and wants to chase her dream. Badri’s father wants to teach her a lesson and asks him to get her back so that he can mistreat her. Badri goes to Singapore and kidnaps her because he’s filled with resentment. He created a ruckus outside her office and almost even strangled her. If this is not toxic, then we should probably change the definition of being toxic. If Vaidehi would have been drunk and created a scene outside his office, I am sure that she would be labelled as a drama queen.
    Rahul (Darr)

Shah Rukh Khan’s character Rahul in Darr had a toxic streak that is far more than just being scary. He took away Juhi’s character Kiran's right to even say no as she didn’t love him. He even sent her a letter covered with his own blood. He even molested her as he obviously didn’t understand the concept of consent. What if Kiran had sent him letters covered in blood, people would have been quicker to judge her sanity.
