Disney Hotstar finally released the trailer of the upcoming magnum opus, The Empire, based on the book Empire Of The Moghul. The historical fiction novel includes six volumes written by Alex Rutherford, and it portrays the rise of the Moghul Empire in India during medieval times. The first part revolves around a young king, Babur, the heir of the king Ferghana, who faces danger from the warlord as his father dies in an accident. The young Babur then has to deal with brutal enemies who threaten his throne and survival.

The director Nikkhil Advani of Emmay Entertainment joined hands with mind-blowing actors, including Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Drashti Dhami, Dino Morea, Sahher Bambba, Rahul Dev, Aditya Seal and many others. This one is Kunal Kapoor's grand digital debut as well as he takes the stage playing the role of the king. It goes without saying that this series is one of the biggest budgeted series to date, being released Disney+ Hotstar. The trailer showcases these stars at grand locations with exquisite, elaborate costumes.

It's also Mitakshara Kumar's debut as a director in the OTT world. She has written some epic sagas before, working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Bajirao Mastani. The adaptation is by Bhavani Iyer. Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani are the producers of the series. The mammoth ensemble of the saga has breathed a new life into the vision of the 8-episode series. It has been shot at locations like India and Uzbekistan.
One can see the spectacular battleground and vast landscapes in the trailer.

Nikkhil Advani mentioned, "The Empire is a dream project that I have nurtured for years. The narrative we are exploring is something none of the makers have ever attempted in the history of Indian entertainment and given this story a fictional and creative bent. It's overwhelming to see the trailer receive resounding praises and we hope that it makes for an unforgettable viewing experience."

Even Kunal Kapoor seems excited about the new project. He said, "We have heard many stories about Babur and the Mughals, but very little about who they were, where they came from and how they came into India. In this fictional take, this is a character with a lot of complexities, and that is what intrigued me as an actor. The trailer is just a small glimpse into the world of The Empire."

Navarasa, which means 'nine emotions' in Tamil, is a recently released series on Netflix. The project brings together a lot of big names in the Tamil industry, and some of the most famous directors, actors, producers, musicians etc., have collaborated for the amazing project. Many leading stars graced the screen to create something truly magical. But as soon as the series was released on the OTT platform Netflix, #BanNetflix started trending on Twitter.

Even though the audience has praised the show for its immaculate performances and storyline, members from the Muslim community expressed their displeasure over the advertisement published in a Tamil daily.

The platform has received the wrath of Islamists as the web series features some parts from the Quran. Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation of Indian Sunni Muslims, hurled abuses and has asked to take strict against the platform.

In a tweet, the organisation said, "Netflix has published a verse of the Quran in the advertisement of its film NavaRasa in Daily Thanthi newspaper. This is an insult to the Quran. We demand strict action against @NetflixIndia,"
Users think it's an insult, and hence the hashtag #BanNetflix started trending. A few others also tweeted, saying that the verses have been used as an 'entertaining' subject. They demanded that Netflix should be banned on the grounds of hurting religious sentiments.
A user wrote, "Remember one thing that Quran and Islam are not the sources of entertaining people. It belongs to our dignity and religious beliefs. Please don't hurt our religious feelings by doing these kind of things."
Check out how the anthology has enraged the community.

Ever since the trailer of Bell Bottom released, the only thing that has been incessantly hitting the headlines is the incredible transformation of Lara Dutta, who is back on the big screen after a long hiatus, and is playing a role most actors would kill for - none other than erstwhile PM Indira Gandhi.
via GIPHY
While the ex Miss Universe is famous for her stunning beauty as well as brains (just watch her speak in any interview) and usually plays glamorous characters, she admitted at the trailer launch that she agreed to play the part even before reading the script because of how iconic the character is.
© Twitter/Bollyfanclub
There is, however, one happy coincidence that proved to be an unexpected advantage for Lara. Her father, retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta, was Indira Gandhi’s personal pilot. That of course meant that he had flown her many times, and knew her better than most people. The actor said that her father proved to be a treasure trove of information when it came to how the Prime Minister carried herself, and her conduct away from the public eye.
via GIPHY
“My father was amused and at the same time intrigued when he came to know that I was playing this character. He was closely associated with her so I got glimpses that weren't in public knowledge. He has flown her many times and has interacted with her for many years. So he was like a treasure trove of reference as to what Ms. Gandhi was really like and how she carried herself and also the way she interacted with people. Like he told how Ms. Gandhi would manage her sari when she would climb into a helicopter or the way she would want to conduct her election rallies when she would fly from one destination to another. His assistance really allowed me to elevate my performance," she said in an interview.

Ravindra Jadeja’s inclusion in India’s Playing XI for the opening Test against England ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin came as a surprise to many fans and experts alike. The all-rounder was picked ahead of Ashwin due to his superior batting ability and the move had paid off as he played a crucial knock which enabled India to take a healthy first innings lead.
© Twitter
Among those who were not happy with Jadeja getting a chance ahead of Ashwin was Sanjay Manjrekar and we weren’t surprised at all, after all they both have a long history. From calling him a “bits and pieces” player to making fun of his English, Manjrekar has crossed boundaries several times while criticising Jadeja and every time he does that Sir Jadeja’s fans troll him heavily on social media.
© Twitter
Watching his partners get out from the other end, Jadeja decided to put his foot on the accelerator and started swinging his bat. Coincidentally when he started dealing in boundaries, Manjrekar was inside the commentary box and it provided the fans with a wonderful opportunity to call him out and they made full use of it.
Some fans loved how Jadeja’s brilliant knock left Manjrekar biting his own words once again, while others described him as his lucky charm who always brings out the best in him and demanded the host broadcasters to bring him into the comm box every time Jadeja comes out to bat.

Good session ahead
— jerseY (@brahma_bull_) August 6, 2021You know its a perfect start to the beautiful weekend when Jadeja is playing exquisite shots and Sanjay Manjrekar is commentating
Feels Shots of tequila#ENGvsIND
— Naman Shah (@NamanShah2607) August 6, 2021 Jadeja scored a gritty 56 off 86 balls and during his knock he played some glorious shots, including some straight drives and a mighty six off James Anderson and fans loved how Manjrekar had no option but to praise his batting skills, something which would have been difficult for him.
© Twitter
Coming in to bat at No. 7, Jadeja, who couldn’t do much with the ball during England’s first innings, scored a fighting half-century and justified his inclusion and silenced all his critics. He was only the second Indian player to score a half-century in the innings, with opener KL Rahul being the other who scored 86 runs on his Test comeback.
Jadeja’s batting has been on the rise in the last couple of years and Indian skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri took a punt on him and so far their move seems to have paid dividends.

If you are sad or happy or angry, there’s a song already sung by our singers that suits your mood. We can’t even imagine a world without the existence of songs as they are our real companions whenever we don’t want anyone around, thanks to the singers who make sure that we have songs for every theme and every moment. Amid the pandemic, it’s the songs sung by our very popular singers that kept us going because going out wasn’t an option.
However, by now we have already established the fact that this article is about our popular Bollywood singers. Well, we got to know about much these singers charge per song.
1. Badshah View this post on Instagram
Badshah might be a known name now but his road to success was a tough one. The rapper who is known for many hits like Chul had a hard time convincing his parents for his career choice.
He is an engineer turned rapper. In one of the interviews, he had said, “When I first told my parents I want to be a rapper, they asked me, ‘Yeh rap hota kya hai’. And to make them understand I showed them a music video featuring rapper 50 Cent. That didn’t put things in my favour, because it was an obscene video,” he recalls, adding, “After that, they told me ‘Bete pehle bade ho jao, phir jo karna ho woh kar lena’. It was difficult to convince my parents that I want to be a rapper. The only Indian reference to rapping was Baba Sehgal, which was again very unconvincing.”
Now, his parents must be proud that he chose that as his career as he charges around Rs 20 Lakh per song.
2. Neha Kakkar View this post on Instagram
Neha Kakkar is currently one of the best Indian playback singers of the current generation. Popular songs like London Thumakda, Dilbar, O Saki Saki, and many more are sung by her and we all have danced to her tunes.
She used to sing ‘bhajans’ and she had no idea her fate was to be changed. In an interview with IANS, she had said, “It feels great. I always tell people that I am still living in a dream. How can this happen? A small-town girl from Rishikesh went to Delhi and then Bombay. It (the journey) has been good. Never thought about where I have reached today.”
Now her popularity is at a level wherein she charges around Rs 15 Lakh per song.
3. Arijit Singh View this post on Instagram
Hailing from a small town of West Bengal, Arijit Singh tirelessly struggled for years to finally make a name. Whenever we talk about Arijit, we remember all the soulful songs that he has lent his voice to. He failed in the initial stages of his career but he was destined to climb the ladder of success.
In one of the interviews, when he was asked if life has changed after he became a huge name, he said, “Words such as ‘star’ and ‘celebrity’ are imaginary creations. These words have gained more importance lately, especially in this industry and show business. This, like any other business, is a place where creative people come together to make movies or music. So, nothing has really changed it’s still the same. I still enjoy a quiet and simple life the way I used to.”
According to reports available online, the singer charges Rs 15 to 20 Lakhs per song.
4. Shreya Ghoshal View this post on Instagram
Shreya Ghoshal has sung in over 18 languages and is one of the few pan Indian singers of the current generation. She was a science student and had enrolled on Atomic Energy Junior College but dropped out of it to pursue singing.
She got her big break in Bollywood with Devdas (2002) and gave chartbusters like Silsila Ye Chahat Ka, Bairi Piya, Morey Piya and Dola Re Dola for the film and then there was no looking back.
In of the interviews with HT, she said, “I have learnt a lot and matured over the years. I was a teenager when I sang my first track, and I was still training in music. I think Indian music is so welcoming of different genres that anyone who spends time in the industry, evolves. There is a lot of scope to stay versatile. I am glad that I’ve had the honour of working with so many talented artistes.”
According to reports, she charges around Rs 20 to Rs 25 Lakhs per song.
5. Guru Randhawa View this post on Instagram
Gursharanjot Singh Randhawa, popularly known as Guru Randhawa, had no idea that his journey as a singer will take him this far.
He started with just Rs 500. Don’t believe us? He himself said in one of the interviews, “When I started writing songs and doing shows, like any other artist, I faced quite a few hindrances. I remember the days I was being paid even Rs. 500 to do a show. That time I had some rich friends and they always used to say that I sing very well but it was disheartening that no one lent me a hand or supported me to come out of the shell, financially or otherwise. Whatever I am today is all because I wanted to do what I did and at the end of the day, it’s only your family, which matters. So if you have any friends or anyone in your family whom you think has potential and sings well, instead of just motivating him, do something and act by helping him. One day you would be proud to see that person on the top. I wish I had that support but nonetheless, I am proud of myself to have achieved this much.”
Now, he charges around Rs 15 Lakhs per song.
All these singers we have mentioned in the list had no godfathers and they have proved that only talent can take you this far.
