Navarasa, which means 'nine emotions' in Tamil, is a recently released series on Netflix. The project brings together a lot of big names in the Tamil industry, and some of the most famous directors, actors, producers, musicians etc., have collaborated for the amazing project. Many leading stars graced the screen to create something truly magical. But as soon as the series was released on the OTT platform Netflix, #BanNetflix started trending on Twitter.

Even though the audience has praised the show for its immaculate performances and storyline, members from the Muslim community expressed their displeasure over the advertisement published in a Tamil daily.

The platform has received the wrath of Islamists as the web series features some parts from the Quran. Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation of Indian Sunni Muslims, hurled abuses and has asked to take strict against the platform.

In a tweet, the organisation said, "Netflix has published a verse of the Quran in the advertisement of its film NavaRasa in Daily Thanthi newspaper. This is an insult to the Quran. We demand strict action against @NetflixIndia,"

Users think it's an insult, and hence the hashtag #BanNetflix started trending. A few others also tweeted, saying that the verses have been used as an 'entertaining' subject. They demanded that Netflix should be banned on the grounds of hurting religious sentiments.

A user wrote, "Remember one thing that Quran and Islam are not the sources of entertaining people. It belongs to our dignity and religious beliefs. Please don't hurt our religious feelings by doing these kind of things."

Navarasa has a stellar cast from the South, including Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj etc.

Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan worked together to produce the series under their banners. This one is Mani Ratnam's debut in the digital world, after movies like Guru and Bombay.
