Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold medal has made the whole country forget everything and celebrate his golden achievement in unison. And why wouldn’t it be, for the first time our track and field athlete has finished on top of the podium in the Olympics.
Since last night, people have been marvelling about the confidence with which he threw his javelin throughout the Tokyo Olympics and dominated the event -- right from the qualification round to the final, finishing on top on both occasions.
© Twitter Neeraj Chopra
This confidence is a result of the philosophy that Neeraj believes in. For many sportspersons, winning is everything but not for Neeraj, who has always believed in working hard without thinking about the result too much. Before the tournament, not many of us would have given him a chance of winning a gold medal but Neeraj was confident that if he continued to train hard nobody could stop him from creating history.

— Neeraj Chopra (@Neeraj_chopra1) November 15, 2017
Don’t believe us? Don’t worry we have proof. Just look at his pinned tweet from 2017 where he had put out an image that had a quote in Hindi where he, in a way, had predicted that he would create history in the near future.
© Twitter Neeraj Chopra
His tweet roughly translates to: “When your hunger for success doesn’t let you sleep, when nothing pleases you more than your hard work, when you don’t feel tired despite training for hours, that’s the indication that history is about to be made”.
Now that he has delivered a historic medal, people are quote-tweeting his inspirational message and are eulogising about the dedication with which he trained for the last three-four years just so that Indian flag could reign supreme and we all could hear our national anthem fill the stadium.
U did it man ... The whole nation is proud of you ... https://t.co/5NA5oZnjwu pic.twitter.com/36JmMFcah9

— Radhama. (@raomeenakshi7) August 8, 2021Sports can transform lives, this phrase holds true for Neeraj as well. When a young boy from Panipat, Haryana held a javelin for the first time in his hand way back in 2011, he was not dreaming of winning an Olympic medal, all he wished was to please his family members, who wanted him to get fitter.
Who knew a boy who would start going to the stadium just to keep himself healthy would go on to become India’s first-ever Olympic champion in track and field.
© Twitter Olympics
There is no denying that his first encounter with javelin can be attributed to mere luck, but since then he has lived and breathed javelin, nothing else. ‘Love at first sight’ is a dialogue overtly in Bollywood movies but there is no better phrase to describe the relationship between Neeraj and his javelin.
After making up his mind that he wanted to become a javelin thrower, Neeraj began hurling javelin farthest than anyone else in his age group and soon he became a dominant force in the junior circuit, winning medals at both state and national level competitions.
After dominating at national level, it was time for Neeraj to make an impression at international level and he did that in some style by smashing the junior world record, achieving an insane distance of 86.48m.
© Reuters
Ever since breaking the junior world record in 2016, the burden of expectations on him was huge but instead of succumbing to that pressure, he used it as a motivation and trained like a beast in order to fulfill the dreams of billions of Indians.
And now that he has achieved it, we know for sure that an athlete is never satisfied and craves for more. As for Neeraj, his next target is already set -- after Olympic gold he wants to become India’s first-ever world champion in track and field.

Neeraj Chopra winning gold for India at the Tokyo Olympics is much more than just an athlete winning a medal. He gave the assurance to more than a billion Indians that it is possible to achieve anything, anything at all, when you put your heart and soul on the line. To outrank gifted, giant, usually physically fitter, stronger athletes from all over the world as an Indian in athletics, is nothing less than a marvel - one that deserves all the praise, accolades, and rewards that he's being showered with right now.
View this post on InstagramWhile the country is celebrating, rightfully so, a section of trolls have taken it upon themselves to mar the festivities by doing what they do best - deviate from what needs to be celebrated and introduce divisiveness instead, where it doesn't belong.
via GIPHY
It started with someone digging out an old tweet by Neeraj where he congratulated the PM over his 2019 election victory.
My heartiest congratulations to our prime minister @narendramodi sir on this historic win.May our country achieve new heights under your leadership.#Election2019Results
— Neeraj Chopra (@Neeraj_chopra1) May 24, 2019
Using this as the hook, a completely unnecessary conversation started about his political affiliations, and that led to tweets that had no business existing during a momentous occasion like this one. One thing led to the other, and the following started.
#sanghi trending on Twitter after Neeraj Chopra won Gold for India. How does it reflect on us as a nation?
— Renu Dhadwal (@renu_dhadwal) August 8, 2021Government should reserve rights to immediately cancel citizenship of these people and detain them, these wokes are not only threat for India but for Human civilization. — kaustubh Choudhary (@kaustubh_2000) August 8, 2021When we were encouraging and supporting the Indian Women Hockey Team, this guy said something very illogical and now finally when we should celebrate the win of #NeerajChopra they're calling him #Sanghi , identify him as a Indian, not as #Sanghi or modi critic! pic.twitter.com/uAhg4A60GL
— Mitali Yadav (@Mitaliciouss) August 8, 2021#Sanghi & #Bhakt are derogatory terms. Sanghi is used to demean an RSS supporter & Bhakts used to demean a Modi Supporter These terms are used when people don’t find a logical explanation to oppose. In a democracy, it is essential that people honour ideological differences. Quora
— Padmaja (@prettypadmaja) August 8, 2021#Sanghi Is Trending. #Netizen Are Trolling Olympic Champions As Sanghi.
This Are Some Images
Opinion:- As An Indian We Should Never Judge Some One On Religion, Political Party,Caste They Are/Or They Follow
Congratulations To All 7 Olympic Champions.

— DeshKHeet (@DesKHeet) August 8, 2021#Sanghi Matlab if you have a political choice you are bad? Toh kaika democracy phir? If you are liberal be that ! If you can't bring glory to the nation its fine but don't shame someone who has done something for the country.HAVE SOME SHAME! YOU PEOPLE ARE DISGRACE TO THE NATION
— A V (@indian_2020_18) August 8, 2021So, Its just mind boggling, instead of celebrating this beautiful moment, people are divided on support, when I used to travel abroad, people used to say India is broken up by castes, now I feel we are broken by Left and Right so much that without bringing this in #Sanghi
— Sweekar (@SweekarS) August 8, 2021Taking the focus away from the achievement of a talented athlete like Neeraj, who has helped the country overcome a gold medal drought of 100 years in athletics, and indulging in narrow-minded discussions about what his, or anyone else's, political affiliation is or isn't, is exactly what is wrong with us as a society. It takes years of hard work, training, and dedication to achieve what Neeraj has achieved, and talking about anything else at this juncture other than this phenomenal achievement, and what can be done to replicate this in terms of other athletes, is criminal.
View this post on InstagramCan we, for once, get past our political and ideological differences, and celebrate Neeraj and our gold medal collectively, as a country? Let us hope we do, for this will mean the difference between success and failure for the future generations of the country.

Celebrated singer and songwriter Neha Bhasin's name was confirmed for Bigg Boss OTT. The singer has sung some melodious songs like Jag Ghoomeya, Swag Se Swagat and Laung Gawacha. She is all set to enter the most controversial show of all time. On the other hand, Bigg Boss will now have a new host for the OTT channel, Karan Johar, and the show would premiere on Voot on August 8th.

Neha Bhasin though recalled an incident in an interview ahead of the show. The singer was body-shamed once. She was called fat, and in fact, her 'stomach was circled on the television'.

Speaking to Zoom TV, she talked about her insecurities. She said, "Of course, my stomach was circled on the television in a meeting and I was told that this video is not being released because I am fat. And this was when I was like 49 kg. When I left home, I was a very normal kid with no insecurities or issues, but that was just the beginning. There are a million instances and I can write a book on that."

She further added, "Today, I am a grown-up but there are 18-19 year-olds who come here, sapne leke aate hai ki sab acha hoga. They should know good things will happen but bad things will happen too. I am not saying that the world is all bad but sometimes, you have to go through it all."

Many of us remember Neha from the Viva group that which was a band of four singers. However, they split up in 2004. Neha also had an acting debut, Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi, with Kay Kay Menon and Ranvir Shorey.

Before entering the Bigg Boss house, Neha said, "I have understood that there is a huge fan following of Bigg Boss, it's a huge platform and everyone in the country connects to it... and all those who go to Bigg boss and come out, have had positive changes only in their lives. Therefore I too wish that my career, which by the grace of God is already good, gets even better."

India's Men's Hockey Team goaler PR Sreejesh is now being called 'The Great Wall Of India' for his mind-blowing skills at the Tokyo Olympics. PR Sreejesh saved the 13th penalty during the game when Germany was close to making the country lose to win its first bronze. But, Sreejesh, the talismanic goalkeeper, made us proud.
© Reuters
Parattu Ravindran Sreejesh was born in Ernakulam district of Kerala in Kizhakkambalam village, and he was only 12 years old when he joined GV Raja Sports School. Even though he didn't plan to be a hockey player, his coach inspired him to do goalkeeping, and in 2021, this skill fetched him a place in the team. After his win, wishes continue to flood in for the athlete. Many state governments have honoured the winners of the game with big cash prizes and rewards. Some are even gifting cars, and plots for a lesser cost.
© Reuters
However, amidst all this, the Kerala Handloom Department announced a special surprise for him on Saturday. As per reports on Malayalam news outlet Janmabhumi, the Kerala Handloom Department said that the influential player in the team, PR Sreejesh, would be given a unique token of appreciation for winning the bronze. It's a combination of Dhoti and a shirt with Rs 1,000 as a reward.
View this post on Instagram
While the athletes are getting a whopping amount for such a feat, Sreejesh, on the other hand, would be given a different type of reward. However, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has not set any prize for the team like Punjab CM Amarinder Singh or Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
PR Sreejesh, the senior-most member of the team, claimed good saves for the team and was also an inspiration for the other gamers. India's male hockey team has now secured their place in the Olympics. However, the gift thing was not well-received by a few people. Take a look at some comments here.

One user wrote, "Hope they won't ask money in return." while another one said, "1000 fucking rupees for a medal. What a joke". People seem highly disappointed with the reward.
Sreejesh did a tremendous job on the field and created history with his last-second crucial penalty save, resulting in a bronze medal.

Athletes running around with their country’s flag wrapped around them after winning an Olympic medal is a common sight that each one of us witnessed throughout the Tokyo Olympics. Indian’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra did the same after he won the men’s javelin throw gold and took a victory lap around the track, taking us on an emotional ride with him.
However, what he did after his celebration is not a common sight. After he was done with his celebration and posing for the cameras, Neeraj, a Subedar in Indian Army, did something that increased the respect we all have for him.
© Reuters
Normally after the celebrations, athletes from other countries are so occupied in their celebration that they forget to pay respect to the flag that it deserves and we often see their flags lying on the floor.
But Neeraj being a true soldier knows how sentimental we all are for our ‘Tiranga’ and he gave it due respect that athletes from other countries don’t, perhaps because for them it’s only a piece of cloth. Neeraj adhered to the flag code and folded our national flag accordingly before putting it inside his bag.
© Reuters
Neeraj’s gold medal made the entire country his fan but the way he respected the national flag made us like him even more. Not many people noticed it but those who did, praised his Indian Army training and upholding the ethos of a true soldier.

— Dr Nivedita (@NiveditaKunwar) August 7, 2021Best moments for me today
1. Neeraj throwing that javelin to the highest score n without seeing the mark he was confident that he has done it. That celebration
2. Neeraj folding the Indian flag as per the flag code and keeping it respectfully on bench
— Swati (@swati301) August 7, 2021My mom noticed this and told me. She told that while the two other medalists from Czech Republic have put the flag on the bench without folding, Sub Neeraj Chopra carefully folded it. https://t.co/Xjmz6tulJ4
— Aishwarya Palagummi (@APalagummi) August 7, 2021It was so heartening to see @Neeraj_chopra1 folding the national flag in accordance with the flag code. A soldier knows the real worth.
Well done Naib Subedar #NeerajChopra.

— Vibhash (@iamvibhash) August 7, 2021After winning Neeraj gave due respect to national flag and kept it only after properly folding it. While other countries flags wer lying around. Indian Army Training pic.twitter.com/pwkXnQRoqd
— Seema (@seeph83) August 7, 2021@Neeraj_chopra1 You have made india proud in your victory and in your conduct of following the flag code while folding the flag. Congratulations and well deserved gold.
— Raghunatha KM (@raghunatha_km) August 7, 2021At 23, Neeraj has achieved what no other track and field athlete from India could before him -- finish on the top of the podium at Olympic Games. His golden journey was marred by several setbacks, the biggest being when he lost almost a year due to an injury and had to undergo surgery.
© Reuters
Be it on the battlefield or track and field, a soldier is never perturbed by any obstacles. In fact, they love the challenges and work extra hard to serve their country and keep Indian flag flying high. Neeraj, who is a Junior Commissioned Officer in Rajputana Rifles, overcame each and every obstacle like a true soldier and didn’t stop before reaching his destination and making his countrymen proud.

Raksha Bandhan is fast approaching and this year it seems like the world might just be in the mood to celebrate a little bit. But, we have all been living in a constant state of bed head and work from home which means that we have been attached to our shorts and given no heed to our looks.
But, now with Rakhi in a few weeks, it's time to get off the couch and start grooming, so that we look like men and not “cavemen”. Figuring out where to start when getting ready for an event can be overwhelming which is why we put together a list of steps that every man needs to take care of before dawning that kurta.
Getting Ready For Raksha Bandhan:1. Give Your Skin A Pep TalkExfoliating is the quickest and most efficient way to freshen your skin for a night out and is the ideal low-effort, high-reward grooming strategy. You'll instantly seem healthier and perkier by eliminating dead cells from the skin's surface to reveal fresh, plump ones beneath.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2021__
Apply a quarter-sized amount of facial scrub to clean, damp skin and gently massage it throughout the face with your fingertips, concentrating on the forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose but avoiding the delicate eye area.
Another benefit of exfoliating before a night out is that you'll be left with a smooth, polished surface on which to apply the rest of your beauty routine while avoiding redness.
2. Cut To ItAppearing fresh-faced for an event entails more than just what's on the surface. A new haircut can completely transform your look, so party season is the ideal time to try something new.
© MensXP
While a bold buzz cut will give some edge to a suited look, more traditional up-dos like a quiff or pompadour play into the season's VIP vibe. If you switch to more textured style products during the day, it works more casually.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1973__
Whatever you choose, always consult a barber, who will be able to recommend a definite head-turner depending on your lifestyle, upcoming activities, and, most crucially, your facial shape.
3. Don’t Forget The DetailsIs your face in tip-top shape? Are your polished shoes in tip-top shape? Well, it could all be for nothing if you don't pay attention to the finer points of your appearance before going out.
__ECOMPRODUCT__501__
Few tiny touches can make or break an event like your fingernails or dry hands. So, don't forget about hand care. In addition to keeping your nails clean and well clipped, pay care to your breath and stray ear and nose hair.
4. 'Photoshop' Your FaceInstagram filters and editing tools can only do so much. If you want to present the equivalent of a live Instagram picture for Raksha Bandhan this year, getting camera-ready starts with the bathroom cabinet.
In the last few years men’s skincare has come on by leaps and bounds, and there are now plenty of undetectable skin perfectors on the market that essentially act like Photoshop for your face.
__ECOMPRODUCT__91__
The best product is a BB cream! It will help freshen up your face and hide all those slight acne scars and make you look like perfection.
5. Banish BlemishesWhat happens when you wake up with a big pimple on your face or a new scar. Well, instead of panicking just calm down and listen to us.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2306__
So, what's the solution? There's a concealer! Apply a small quantity to the tip of your ring finger and pat onto the problematic spot, it's easier than most men think. Look for a concealer that addresses the spot "head-on" with skin-saving antioxidants to reduce redness while concealing the fault at the same time for added points.
6. Don’t Forget To Smell GreatYou need a fragrance that will linger as long as you do. Apart from knowing which concentrations will last the longest (parfum, Eau de parfum, and finally eau de toilette), it's also important to choose your ingredients carefully.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2307__
Certain notes, like vetiver, oud, sandalwood, musk, patchouli, and amber, are regarded for their longevity and may be found in a wide range of classic fragrances.
The location where you spray the scent might also help it last longer. Avoid the neck and wrists as a general rule because they are warmer and hence burn the perfume off faster. Apply it to your chest, back, or biceps instead.
To Wrap UpGetting ready for any event requires more than just putting together a great outfit and matching the right shoes. Your skin, hair, hands, scent, play as much of a role, if not bigger. If you end up at any festival with dull skin, dry hands and nose hair, then your outfit will not be the centre of attention. So, make sure that your grooming game is on point as well!
