Lovlina Borgohain, the 23-year-old boxer from Assam, did the entire country proud securing a second medal at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this week and since then she has been hogging all the limelight, and deservedly so. Like most athletes in this country her road to glory wasn’t a smooth sailing ride but she overcame all those obstacles like a true champion.
If you are a female athlete and belong to a humble background, the journey becomes all the more difficult because apart from all the other things you also have to overcome the age-old patricacy.

Lovlina was lucky that her family supported her and allowed her to follow her dreams and now she has proved her doubters wrong and is on the brink of creating history. She clearly remembers how the villagers used to pity her parents just because they had only three daughters and no sons.

“I remember how in the village they would often pity my parents, with no sons and three daughters. My mother would always tell us to do something to prove the critics wrong, and we did,” Lovlina had said in an Indian Express interview, after being conferred with the Arjuna award -- the second highest sporting honour in the country.
“Both my sisters have jobs in the Central Industrial Security Force and Border Security Force, and I am a boxer,” she added.
The irony is that the same villagers who once pitied her parents are now hoping and praying that she returns home with a gold medal so their village Baromukhia village could get the government’s attention and get access to basic infrastructure facilities like drinking water, roads and hospital.

Watching her elder twin sisters Licha and Lima, who were national level kickboxers, Lovlina started taking interest in kick-boxing and began learning Muay Thai -- a form of martial art -- aged 13. After being discovered by boxing coach Padum Boro during a competition, she switched to boxing and what a decision that has turned out to be.

She booked a place in the semi-finals after beating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the women’s welterweight category. Beating a former world champion in her previous bout would boost her confidence immensely.

However, she is not looking at it like that because her only focus is to win the gold medal and she made her intentions pretty clear after her quarter-finals bout.
“There is only one medal and that is gold, that is what we compete for. I am not thinking about anything right now. Don't want to stop here, want to win gold,” said Lovlina, during a virtual press conference after her quarter-final bout.
Just one more win and she would achieve what no other Indian pugilist has done ever before -- clinch an Olympic silver medal. Whether she manages to achieve that or not, she has already won billions of hearts not just by boxing but also by knocking out the age-old patriarchy.

As the whole world is busy celebrating the ‘Friendship Day’, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also joined in the party and shared a video on the micro-blogging site, paying tribute to his closest friends for giving him lifelong memories.
“There are friends, there is family and then there are friends that become family!” was the introductory line of the video and featured most of his former India teammates -- Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan, among others.

What surprised the fans was the fact that apart from the Indian cricketers, the 59-second long video also featured ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle but had no place for former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, under whom he played some of his best cricket and also won two World Cups.
For a long time, the duo were the key part of India’s batting line-up and forged some memorable partnerships and took India over the line on numerous occasions, including the 2011 World Cup final.

When they batted together it was nothing short of a nightmare for the opposition bowlers but they grew apart towards the end of their careers.

The exact reason why Yuvi excluded Dhoni from the video only he could tell but Thala firmly believed that Yuvaj did it on purpose. Sharing Dhoni’s retirement video, the fans reminded the southpaw how he had sidelined his differences with everyone and thanked them for playing a role in his career.

Yuvraj began his international career under Sourav Ganguly, who according to him gave him the chance to flourish. Yuvraj, in an interview, had said that he never got the same kind of support from Dhoni or even Virat Kohli that he got from Ganguly and most of the memories that he cherishes are from the early part of his career.

“I have more memories of time under Sourav because of the support he gave me. I didn’t have that kind of support from Mahi and Virat (Kohli)," Yuvraj Singh had said in an interview with Sportstar.

    — Ranjeet (@bahuchod) August 1, 2021Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his Retirement video had pic with everyone along with whom he played without any hatred.

But the hatred for Dhoni by Yuvi and Gambhir is almost visible everytime. Such a cheap Class. https://t.co/g0MlIlY362

    — That Bullish Guy (@i_Prathit) August 1, 2021Don't know what is more embarrassing. Yuvi being salty enough to crop dhoni from group pictures or his fans posting their pictures in comments. https://t.co/TJ7bmjE8Vd

    — jd (@j_dhillon7) August 1, 2021Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh, a former cricketer himself, had said that Dhoni and Kohli both backstabbed his son. He had even blamed Ravi Shastri and the then selectors for betraying his son.
Loved the partnerships they had together.
It was sheer joy to watch them play together
    — Rohit (@RohitGedam29) August 1, 2021Yuvi did nothing wrong , He add those player's pic in the video whom he think as Friend . Nothing wrong here .
You guys hurted just because you thought Dhoni and Yuvi are friend . So , From now don't think them as friend then you will take that tweet easily .
    — SouravMSD (@SouravMsd) August 1, 2021So far, Yuvraj hasn’t come out in public to either support or deny any of his father’s claims but his friendship video is a clear indication that he doesn’t consider Dhoni and Kohli friends. Fans must also accept that we all are free to choose who we want to be friends with and Yuvraj did nothing wrong.

Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly the ‘king’ of Bollywood. His love affair with the screen started early and within no time, he made his acting career and proved that hard work and consistency go hand in hand.

He will always be our favorite hero when it comes to romantic films and no one in the industry has an aura like him. His films that were released in the 90s are cult movies that people are enthralled to watch till date. However, if we look at his films more closely, we’d know that he has mostly played ‘toxic’ hero roles on-screen that shouldn’t be glorified at all.
Here is a list of 5 toxic roles played by Shah Rukh Khan that we didn’t know were problematic.
    Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai publicly insulted his best friend Anjali and didn’t respect her choice of clothes throughout the film. He constantly taunted her in the movie for dressing up the way that she did and was comfortable in.
Later, he falls in love with her when she becomes feminine and undergoes a makeover. He didn’t even care that Anjali already had a fiancé. Umm..that’s extremely selfish!
Kal Ho Na HoIn this film, he manipulates his love interest into dating someone else without thinking about what she wants to do. And we can’t forget the whole concept of ‘6 din ladki in’!
Dilwale Dulhania Le JayengeSRK’s character Raj, in the film, manipulates Simran into thinking that they slept together, even though they didn’t. Imagine, this happening in today’s time?
He gaslights her and makes her fall in love with him.
    Dil Toh Pagal Hai
In the film, his behavior is sexist towards Nisha (Karisma Kapoor). Also, he is just in the love with the idea of Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) and isn’t falling for who she is. Not only this, he then goes onto force Pooja to fit into the ‘ideal’ woman category for him.
    Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
SRK's character in the film pretends to be someone else to get his newly wedded wife to fall in love with him. To be honest, that’s weird and we are not even talking about the film’s plot, just the storyline that makes the audience believe something like that can happen is embarrassing.
