Dating in today’s day and age can be tough. It has become even tougher thanks to the pandemic. Therefore, whenever we hear of some bizarre catfishing stories we can’t help but shake our heads and chuckle.

Well, an American man living in London found out that he was being catfished in the harshest of ways - in front of the audience of one of England’s most famous reality TV shows, called Catfish.

An American man who goes by the name Mario was living in London for some time when he decided that he should try out online dating. After matching with a few people, he finally found one person with whom he connected almost instantly. This person had introduced herself as Hannah.

Hannah and Mario spent the next 8 months chatting and talking almost every day. Things went so far that Mario started believing that he was in love with Hannah, and wanted to meet her. Now, Hannah, in spite of saying that she lived in London, refused to meet Mario, by giving some or the other excuse, every time the conversation headed there.

Mario got a little suspicious and therefore decided to get in touch with the people at MTV’s Catfish, and sought their help. A very basic investigation that comprised of reverse searching Hannah’s dating profile image, and a few social media accounts of her name, revealed that Hannah was actually based out of Auckland, New Zealand.

When Hannah was contacted by the show’s host, she said that she did not know anybody named Mario in London, and had no idea that her photograph was being used to catfish him.
The producers of the show got in touch with the person who was posing as Hannah, and finally convinced her to meet up with Mario. The fake Hannah, then messaged Mario, saying that she will only meet him if he promised that she wouldn’t lose him. They finally agreed to meet at a park.

Mario was in for the shock of his life when he finally met “Hannah” and found out it was his roommate named Courtney.

Courtney told the producers of the show that she had fallen in love with Mario, but did not want to risk losing him. So, to find out how he is romantically, she used a fake profile to date him. Her eventual plan was to break up as Hannah and then engage with him as Courtney.

Hearing this, Mario moved out of the place where he was living with Courtney and moved in with a friend. The show’s host then revealed that they stayed in touch as friends, and after two months of the meet up at the park, they moved in together, and are still friends.

Given just how bad catfishing traps can get for the people involved, we have to say, that Mario and Courtney, both of them got off easy.

No matter what you think of Karan Johar, you cannot deny the fact that Channa Mereya is one of the most iconic songs for anyone who’s dealing with a bad break-up. It genuinely is a tonic for the heart.

    © Dharma Productions
Well, Badshah tried experimenting with the song in a way that was actually hilarious. Now, before you go on smashing your keyboards thinking that another ecstatic song has been ruined by a music director, hold your horses. Badshah did not actually croon a “new version” of Channa Mereya.

    © Instagram/badboyshah
Taking a cue from Dipraj Jadhav, the mashup artist who takes the soundtrack from some Bollywood movie or song and juxtaposes it with a different scene, Badshah did something similar.

    © Instagram/badboyshah
He created a mashup of Channa Mereya with this song Baawla. Here, check it out.

    View this post on Instagram
The rapper has edited a popular scene from Johar’ Ae Dil Hai Mushkil where Ranbir’s character sings ‘Channa Mereya’ plays, and replaced it with one of his most recent songs.
There are those who find this particular scene from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil rather tear-jerking, and then, there are those who find it to be a typical Bollywood heartbreak scene. Well, no matter where one stands on the issue, the fact is, Badshah’s mashup has gone viral on Instagram and has garnered some rather strong reactions.

While some of his followers found the edit to be quite good and are loving it, others found the edit to be quite hilarious and have labelled it to be a pretty decent meme.
Badshah’s released a new song on the 28th of July, called Baawla, featuring Uchana Amit and  Samreen Kaur, which has already garnered over 28 Million views.
    © YouTube/Badshah
The edit seems to be a really well thought out tactic to promote the song. As far as promotional activities go, this is a rather ingenious idea. Several celebrities, including Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Singh Bassi, have actually appreciated the song. Dipraj Jadhav, whom Badhah actually tagged in the video, also commented, saying “Paaji tussi great ho” (Brother, you are great)

    © Instagram/badboyshah
Badshah also said that it was him who actually edited the mashup video. While the song actually goes rather well with the video portions that were used, we sincerely think that Badshah should just stick to ‘making music.’ These mashups do not seem to be a viable alternate career option for Badshah, does it?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hit back at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs, who had accused them of misusing their power to prevent cricketers from participating in the Kashmir Premier League in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
Breaking their silence over the issue, an unnamed BCCI official has slammed both the PCB and Gibbs, making clear that the Indian cricket board is well within its rights to take “decisions with respect to the cricketing ecosystem in India”.
    © Reuters
Reacting to Gibbs’ comments, the BCCI official reminded him of the CBI investigation that he was involved in, in a match-fixing case in the early 2000s and didn’t travel to India for almost a decade.

The BCCI is the world’s richest cricket board and its power in world cricket is second to none as it generates the maximum for the International Cricket Council and most cricket boards are envious of its progress. Responding to PCB’s comments, the BCCI official said that their remarks have no ground and it only shows how confused and envious they are of the Indian governing body.
Completely unnecessary of the @BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the @kpl_20 . Also threatening me saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous
    — Herschelle Gibbs (@hershybru) July 31, 2021
"While one can neither confirm or deny the veracity of the statement made by a former player who has figured in a CBI investigation into match-fixing earlier, the PCB must understand that even if Gibb's statement is assumed to be true, the BCCI would be well within their rights to take decisions with respect to the cricketing ecosystem in India. The fact that the Indian cricketing ecosystem is the most sought after for cricketing opportunities globally, should not be envied by the PCB," a BCCI official told ANI.

"PCB is coming across as confused. Just the way the decision to not allow players of Pakistani origin to participate in the IPL cannot be construed as interfering in the internal affairs of an ICC member, the decision, if any, to allow or disallow anyone from participating in any manner with cricket within India is purely an internal matter of the BCCI," the official added.

    — Krishna (@Atheist_Krishna) August 1, 2021
The BCCI official even accused the PCB of taking directions from their government and said that they should feel free to reach out to the ICC.
"They are welcome to raise the matter at the ICC and one can understand where this is coming from but the question that they need to ask themselves is whether it is on account of government interference in their working since the PM of Pakistan is officially their Patron as per their own constitution. It is time to consider whether this issue also ought to be raised at the ICC," said the official.
The Indian supporters loved BCCI’s strong response and flooded Twitter with all kinds of memes.
This is not a political agenda. This is our sovereignty. Well done @BCCI https://t.co/CZzpilh1kK

    — Sunit (@itsyourboisam17) August 1, 2021The fact that the so-called Kashmir Premier League has invited several retired cricketers to be a part of the tournament only goes on to show that it means everything but serious cricket.
    © Reuters
Right from the onset, it was clear to see that the Imran Khan government, with the help of PCB, was trying to use the league for their political advantage in a region which has been a bone of contention for the two nuclear-armed nations.

There's absolutely no denying the fact that Superman is one of the mightiest superheroes on Earth.
    © Warner Bros.
Not only that, the Justice League leader is a very bankable superhero in cinema and television history with a series of hit films and television series being made out of it, with the latest being Henry Cavill's portrayal.

Now what was an extraordinary piece of news for DC fans, it was reported that Michael B. Jordan is developing an HBO Limited Series on DC's Black Superman, Val-Zod!

Michael B. Jordan is developing a Black Superman project centered on the Val-Zod incarnation of the character from DC Comics.

So far, it has not been confirmed whether Michael, who has already starred in Marvel's Black Panther and Fantastic Four movies, will be playing the superhero on screen. We'd like to think he has all it takes to be the first live-action Black Superman. Now, while HBO has declined to comment or share any details about the potential project, here are five things you should know.

    1. Different Earth, Different Universe © DC Comics
First thing's first. It might come out to be a shock to you but there are around 52 Universes in the DC Universe, meaning there are 52 Earths as well. Now, the Superman that we are used to seeing is Earth One's Superman, Clark Kent AKA Kal-El. The new Black Superman TV Series will, however, focus on Earth-Two and its Superman, Val-Zod.

    2. Val-Zod Is The Second Superman © CBR
There are many Supermans across the entire DC Universe. However, Val-Zod, being one of the last Kryptonians just like Kal-El, is the second to use the mantle of Superman after Clark Kent.

    © DC Comics
Unlike Kal-El's history of Krypton before destruction, Val's parents are actually executed by the planet's court and he somehow manages to escape the planet and reach Earth-Two. So, just in case you're tired of watching the same old Superman origin story in the cinema halls, the TV show is going to be something very different.

    3. He Too Has Really Cool Superpowers © DC Comics
Clark Kent's Superman is said to be one of the most powerful superheroes in the DC Universe, and well, Val-Zod is certainly no different. The Black Superman really possesses an awesome set of powers that range from Heat Vision, Super-Hearing, Enhanced Vision, the ability to fly, Superhuman Strength, stamina, speed, invulnerability, Solar Energy Radiation as well as a Genius Level Intellect.

After what Marvel has been doing with its Disney Plus TV series, it's really exciting to imagine what DC and HBO Max may be up to in terms of showing the Black Superman's full range of powers on the small screen.
    4. Script Already In The Works © Twitter/Collider
While not much is known about the limited series, it has been reported that an unnamed writer has been working on a script, with Michael B. Jordan producing the series on his own. With the 34-year-old actor already swamped with projects this year including producing, directing, and starring in Creed 3, the chances of him actually playing the part of Val-Zod look slim. However, they are certainly not zero!

    5. An All-Black Cast © Marvel Studios
Back in June of 2020, Michael had urged studios and agencies to invest in black staff, especially after the success of his Black Panther film. And there are now calls from fans of the show to follow in the lead of the Marvel film, with many even suggesting that the actual show could incorporate some parallels from the actual scenes in America, where Val-Zod could actually fight racism and inequality in the country.

Anyhow, we are definitely up for it and we hope that the series gets an official green light soon enough.

Bollywood has been rather ruthless when it comes to recognizing talent and it has taken years for the Hindi cinema to finally give due credit to actors who genuinely deserve it. It will perhaps take many more years to make certain amends and start casting actors only based on their talent.
Actors like Adil Hussain who have been in the industry deserve way more credit for his talent as he is an actor who brings calmness to the masala Bollywood movies through his characters. He belongs from Assam and is proving all the haters who looked down upon north-easterners wrong by doing some great films.
View this post on InstagramA versatile actor, Hussain is clearly a gem of the cinema industry not only for his contribution to regional cinema but also for his work in international ventures. He has been a part of acclaimed indie films like Parched, Angry Indian Goddesses, Umrika and the list goes on.
I got a chance to talk to Adil Hussain about his journey and we also discussed how Bollywood didn’t help in protecting the plight of the northeasterners.
Here are the excerpts from my interview:Adil sir, you are an actor who is not bound by any language barrier. You have done Hindi movies, Assamese movies, even Bengali movies, and much more. How do you see your journey?
I would say that I am one of the luckiest actors on this planet who has been offered so many roles and thankfully by the design of nature, I have a very pan-Indian face. When I travel to Tamil Nadu, people think I am a Tamilian, when I am in Assam, of course, I am an Assamese, when I am in Bengal, they think I am Bengali and when I am in Bihar, they think I belong to their land and I am a Bihari. When I am in Kerala, people start talking to me in Malayalam. I think it’s a gift from the universe. I also have a knack for picking up languages and I wish I had known more. I am not very good at the southern language because it belongs to a completely different branch of linguistics. I can speak four languages easily. I can probably do a decent job with a British, Scottish, and American accent. I am very lucky to pursue acting and to be recognized as an actor who’s dependable and directors think that they can give me such diverse roles. And that credibility has been taught to me by my teacher. I put my heart and soul into my characters and probably my hard work is paying off.
View this post on InstagramIn one of your interviews, you said that people thought you are not a bankable actor and Bollywood had to fit you in and somewhere even I also feel that your talent hasn’t been truly recognized here and you are given very stereotypical roles. What do you have to say about it?
It’s a difficult one because Bollywood has a different style of storytelling that I haven’t been particularly interested in. I am cast in films like Good Newwz and Bell Bottom. English Vinglish is not a typical film as it wasn’t a Masala movie. I feel Bollywood produces more masala movies but that's slowly changing now. This is why you are now seeing actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Pankaj Tripathi, or Rajkummar Rao. They all are now doing well in the industry. There is a middle ground as well. You have actors like Ayushmann Khurrana who are doing well. People who are the in-charge of this market need to be a little more imaginative about it. Thanks to the OTT platforms, actors like us who are not interested in this masala sort of narrative are getting a lot of roles which is great. Bollywood can surely do better (laughs).
While I was surfing Netflix, I got a chance to watch your movie What Will People Say in the Hidden Gems Category. After seeing your character in the movie, I was scared because if I had a father like you, I would have probably run away like your daughter in the movie. How do you see your character in the 2017 film?
It’s a Norwegian film. It’s a true story of the director. I can understand the father as he comes from an overprotective space. It’s normal to get beaten up by parents and even I have been beaten up. It’s not normal now but I used to be okay back then. When I look at it, I see a father who is almost cruel but had love for his daughter and you see the transition happening in him at the end. If that transition wouldn’t have been there, I wouldn’t have done the role because there should be a way to redemption. I think it’s an important movie of my career. It was also an Oscars submission from Norway in 2018. It’s a great role to play without any judgments.
View this post on InstagramYou said in one of your interviews that you were earlier very insecure about how you looked and in the same interview, you had also said ‘Why can’t people with dark skin play lead roles?’ Bollywood has looked down upon a certain colour or race over the years. Cut to 2021, things have slightly improved. Of course, it will take many more years to overcome the fair skin bias. What do you have to say about it?
There have been many biases for that matter. Bollywood too has stemmed from a society that has many taboos. Every society has its own biases against people of a certain race, colour, or poor economical background. Women have faced many biases across the globe and definitely in India. I have always been asked about Priyanka Chopra playing Mary Kom and I reply to them that I am very fond of her and she is an accomplished actor but Bollywood lost an opportunity to cast a North Eastern face and introduce it to the audience.
In fact, the kind of treatment north-eastern people are given is terrible as they were looked down upon as Chinese in Hindi films. I feel only a few filmmakers take this responsibility. To elaborate what I am trying to say here, I would like to give an example: just imagine, if Milkha Singh is played by a north-eastern person, how would people feel about it so why wasn’t a north-eastern actor cast for Mary Kom. I feel Bollywood can redeem itself by casting someone from the north-east. They must be aware of the political segregation and the neglected part of the country.
View this post on InstagramSo, I did my graduation from Delhi University where people use racial slurs to address people from the North-East, and sadly, it hasn’t changed much. What do you have to say to such people?
It’s a social responsibility of people who are in powerful positions, not just political ones. I feel filmmakers have the power. As I said earlier, they need to inculcate it in their narratives. Politicians should also find ways to tell people that we are very much part of the country so that we are introduced to the mainstream part of the country. I feel the education system that we have is also not wisdom-oriented. People use education as a money-minting business. We need to tell children that we need to learn how to include people and not exclude them.
View this post on InstagramHere's hoping Hussain keeps doing a blend of commercial cinema and the movies that matter for a long time. What do you have to say about Bollywood's biases? Let us know in the comments below.
