Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots was a revolutionary movie that came out in 2009 and really connected with young audiences and adults everywhere.
    © Netflix
The coming-of-age comedy-drama film, based on Chetan Bhagat's book Five Point Someone, had a stellar cast of Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani, making the film not only just a content-based film but a cinematic delight as well.

    © Netflix
The film had a lot of takes on how education is looked at as a whole in India and how students have to bear tremendous pressures when it comes to scoring high in examinations as well as getting a job that pays well in the future.

Actor Ali Fazal portrayed one of those students in the film, with his character Joy Lobo deciding to take his own life after failing to complete his final year project on time.

However, Fazal, who himself was a second-year college student back when the film was being shot, said that during the shooting, a news channel approached him, asking him to comment on the teenage suicides in India.

The 34-year-old actor revealed that he fell into depression around the same time and stated how he felt 'crushed' at the news of students taking drastic steps due to pressures related to studies.
“I slipped into depression when I started with ‘3 Idiots’. I played a small role in it. Do you know what happened? Suddenly they were doing some news pieces, not to sound morbid or anything but at that time, some college students had harmed themselves, and then I got a call from some news channel saying, 'Sir, you've played this role and this is exactly what has happened. How do you feel about it?' and I was crushed at that point. I was naive. I was in my second year of college,” said Fazal, while speaking with PeepingMoon in an interview.
After starting out with a small role in 3 Idiots, over the course of years, Fazal has really gone on to make a big name for himself by working in films like ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’, ‘Bobby Jasoos’, and ‘Fukrey’.

The actor, who really impressed fans and critics with his performance in the Amazon series ‘Mirzapur’, has also bagged some Hollywood projects during that time.

He will now be seen in Netflix's upcoming OTT series 'Ray' on June 25, 2021.

The Ridin' Solo singer was legit seen making the favourite Indian dish, jalebis, at his home and posted the process of the video. To add some fun element to it, he shows Hershey's syrup but doesn't put it on the jalebis. One can hear the Mashup song Jalebi Baby in the background.

It just shows that people are not only open to hearing new and unique sounds, they crave them.”

The reactions are pretty hilarious but say what may, even we feel like eating those jalebis now!

The Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) is urging the England and Wales Cricket Board to organise two warm-up matches ahead of the five-match Test series between the hosts and the touring Indian side and according to media reports, it is the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah who is leading the negotiations.
In a conversation with The Indian Express, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said: “Jay (Shah) will be speaking to ECB and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tom Harrison to make an arrangement for two warm-up games before the five-Test match series. The secretary felt that the BCCI should request the ECB to give at least two warm-up games so that players can get in some good match practice before the series starts”, Dhumal told The Indian Express.
    View this post on Instagram
While the concept of warm-up matches before the actual series has always been helpful for the Men in Blue, the irony was in the fact that the BCCI did nothing to carry out even a single one of them ahead of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand which took place between 18th and 23rd June.
On one hand, the Black Caps were already in England for more than a month ahead of the final and even had themselves two Test matches against the hosts before taking on Virat Kohli’s men at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl cricket ground. On the other hand, the Indian cricket team had to fly to the UK, spend precious practice time in the quarantine, and had to play an intra-squad match as a means to warm up, which obviously wasn’t as effective as playing against another team.
    View this post on Instagram
Consequently, the WTC final turned out to be a completely one-sided affair in which Kane Williamson’s team rolled over our boys in a stunning Day 6 collapse of the Indian batting order. Despite an incredible record and a phenomenal journey to the final, the Men in Blue once again failed to impress in the knockout round.
As a result, the fans of the Indian cricket team were at their trolling best while essentially telling the Indian cricket board secretary that he was a little too late to organise warm-up sessions:
Awesome they will play 2 warm up matches so that they don't consider 1st match of the series as warmup match
    — Shivani (@meme_ki_diwani) June 25, 2021Why not before WTC final?

    — Jay Ponkia (@PonkiaJay) June 25, 2021Ab kya fayda h warm up matches ka WTC to nikal gya.
    — Vikram Singh Jatain (@vsj091) June 25, 2021Too late. Our priority is IPL. Should have done the same before #WTCFinal2021
    — GUJJU🇮🇳 (@pankil18sbm) June 25, 2021At the moment, Team India is in the middle of a 20-day break from cricket, and every team member is allowed to explore the UK however they wish to (while of course keeping the British COVID-19 rules and regulations in mind). They are expected to reunite in London on 14th July to resume practice for the red-ball series against Joe Root’s side.

In another heartbreaking news, a TV anchor from Zambia interrupted a live news bulletin to complain that he and his work colleagues haven’t been paid their salaries by the news channel.

Kabinda Kalimina, who was reading the news during a KBN programme on Saturday, stopped between live news to announce that the staff at the channel had not received their wages and insisted that they ‘must be paid’.
He started the show by giving a round-up of the day’s top stories. But then, he went on to make a complaint on live television.
He said, “Away from the news, ladies, and gentleman, we are human beings. We have to get paid.”
He added, " Unfortunately, on KBN we haven't been paid... Sharon and everyone else hasn't been paid, including myself. We have to get paid.”
    Check out the video here-

As soon as Kalimina made his statement, his live feed was cut to the opening montage.

Kennedy K Mambwe, the CEO of KBN TV, took to Facebook to condemn the actions of the anchor.
He also added that Kalimina exhibited drunken behaviour during the show and said that the channel would investigate how drunken part-time presenter found himself on air abated.
The statement read as, “As KBN TV, we are appalled with the drunken behaviour exhibited through a video clip that has gone viral on social media and staged by one of our part-time presenters during what should have been the main news bulletin last night.”
It added, “As management, we are carrying out investigations to determine how a drunken part-time presenter found himself on air unabated, and disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who may have been party to the scheme.”
The anchor refuted the channel’s claims saying that he wasn’t drunk during the show. He also questioned how he can be under the influence of alcohol as he had already anchored three other shows.
He said, “Yes I did that on live TV, just because most journalists are scared to speak out doesn't mean journalists shouldn't speak out.”

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, people are abstaining from traveling and especially air travel is on an all-time low. Recently, a UAE-based Indian businessman expressed how he felt like a Maharaja after traveling from Amritsar to Dubai alone as he was the only passenger on the Air India international flight.

SP Singh Oberoi, a businessman and a philanthropist booked a three-hour-long flight on Wednesday.
When SP Singh boarded the flight, he was a little hesitant after knowing that he is the only passenger on the aircraft. He told ANI, "I took my flight from Amritsar to Dubai by Air India (AI-929) on June 23 at around 4 am. I was very lucky to be the only passenger on the entire flight. I feel like a Maharaja during my travel.”
    © BCCL
SP Singh holds a ten-year golden visa and his business operations are also run in Dubai, he said that he was treated extremely well by the crew and was also photographed inside the empty plane.

He said, “I was treated very well by the entire crew and was photographed in an empty plane, I took pictures with the crew and pilots of the aircraft.”
“If I get a chance to travel solo next time I will refuse. It is good for once in a lifetime experience. It was very boring," he added.
    © BCCL
He further said, "I missed the usually 'Jo Bole So Nihaal' and 'Sat Sri Akal' chants that passengers from Punjab usually raise during take-off and landing of the aircraft.”

The journey wouldn’t have happened at all as he was refused permission by Air India for boarding the flight but after the Ministry of Civil Aviation intervened, he was allowed to board the flight.

Released in 2019, The Family Man season 1 received rave reviews. The 10 episode series sees the life of Srikant Tiwari, played by Manoj Bajpayee, who is flitting between his clandestine government job and his role in the family. Whereas in season 2, we saw Srikant settle for a corporate job, but he ends up back in the force. The story also saw another mind-boggling character of Samantha Akkineni, whose phenomenal acting skills instantly made the show a big hit.

Samantha plays the role of Rajalakshmi Chandran, AKA Raji, who is an activist. She is seen as the antagonist on the show with Sajid, played by Shahab Ali. In a recent interview, Shahab went on to speak about the chemistry between the two. We witnessed tits and bits of their growing romance but not a full-fledged love story. In the interview, Shahab mentioned that there were 'suggestive' scenes with Samantha that didn't make it to the final show. They had intimate scenes, which were jettisoned.

    © Amazon Prime Video
Shahab said, "It is not just the intimate scenes. It was the usual process - you have a lengthy show, and there is the process of editing which comes later. It was not like a particular scene was edited out."

He further added, "I think only those scenes were retained that were required and logical. The parts that were not logical, were not kept."
    © Amazon Prime Video
When asked if they shot intimate physical scenes, he added, "We did some suggestive scenes that suggested that they fall in love towards the end. But those scenes were not making sense for the creators, or maybe the platform. So, those scenes were edited out. There are so many scenes edited out, so it is not a big deal. That is the process of content creation."

Their roles as extremists have been highly praised by the audience and made it one of the gripping shows. He also remembered how he didn't know how to drive but had to learn for a few episodes. He said, "I had to drive the car in panic mode with intense dialogues. It was a nightmare for me. Production people gave me a fifteen-twenty minutes lesson, and then I went to shoot. Samantha did not know that I was driving for the first time. Later, when I told her she was shocked,"

The Family Man 2 is directed and created by Raj & D.K. Suparn S. Verma. The story is based on several real-life events, making the show an exciting watch with its twists.

Japan, the industrial giant of Asia, is notorious for overworking its employees and burning them out with workload and extra shifts. During the pandemic, work from home gave employees a breather from this extreme work culture as they could have a better work-life balance.
    © iStock
Now that the country is going back to resuming work, the government has proposed a four-day work week to ensure people don’t quit and have a better work-life balance.

This reminds us of the changes made in the labour code by Indian government earlier this year. It stated that organisations could allow their employees to work four days a week instead of five or six, which is standard for most companies in India. Now, who doesn’t love a longer weekend? But there’s a reason why this change never panned out.
    © iStock
Can India take such a step? Although we would love to have a shorter work week, this may never happen in India anytime soon and here’s why:

    Fixed week hours
There are fixed week hours set for employees under the labour law which is 48 hours. If companies work four days a week, workers would be expected to work 10-15 hours a day, instead of 8 hours (5 day working) or 6 hours (6 days working). Longer working hours lead to lesser productivity of employees.

    India is an outsourcing country

India is called outsourcing destination as it is preferred by numerous countries to outsource projects and services like software from India. Apart from low cost and infrastructure, the prime reason for why countries prefer India to outsource is its skilled workforce, readily available labour, and ‘round-the-clock services’.
    © iStock
    It may be optional

India is a developing country which simply cannot afford to close down the shutters for three days a week, especially after the economic disruption caused by the pandemic. However, it could work for labour-intensive sectors and manufacturing companies to squeeze in a work’s week in four days and save on rent, electricity etc. But for other sectors, it is not feasible.
    © iStock
A lot of Indian companies gave their employees a three-day weekend during the second wave of Covid to ensure their good physical and mental health, which is great. However, in a country in which most companies and sectors work even six days a week, we don’t see the four-day week working for India, no matter how much we would like that.

Anyway, happy weekend to all those who have Saturday off!

China has recently demanded that its laboratory in Wuhan be awarded the prestigious Nobel prize for its contribution to the research of Coronavirus.
Yes, you are reading that right!
China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson, Zhau Lijian said that China’s Wuhan lab deserves the Nobel prize for studying the coronavirus.
This comes after the lab has been nominated for China’s top science award.
    © BCCL
The Chinese Academy of Sciences selected the Wuhan Institute of Virology for its ‘Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize’ in 2021 for identifying the virus.

Dr. Li-Meng Yan, a Chinese virologist earlier claimed that the coronavirus was leaked from the Wuhan lab. After hearing about China’s demands asking for a Nobel Prize for the same, she said, “It sounds crazy that China asked for Nobel Prize nomination for Wuhan Lab. When more and more evidence coming out, people are realizing that the COVID-19 pandemic originated in Wuhan, and the labs are involved in the gain-of-function modification of the virus. However, the nomination clearly shows China’s perspective to the world, which is opposite but perfectly fits CCP’s logic."
She further said, “Asking for the nomination not only shows CCP regime’s ambitions to the world but also proves how inhuman the communist ideology and dictatorship is. Moreover, it tells you clearly that the COVID-19 is NOT caused by a lab accident, but purposely released to destroy the rival countries by the Chinese government."
Zhau Lijian had said according to a press statement, “The genome sequence of Covid-19 was first identified by Chinese scientists, but that does not mean Wuhan is the source of the coronavirus, nor can it be inferred that the coronavirus was made by Chinese scientists.”
    © BCCL
Linian added, “If those that first publish high-quality viral genomes were to be accused of making the virus, then professor Luc Montagnier, who first discovered the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) would be considered the culprit of AIDS rather than awarded the Nobel Prize, and Mr. Louis Pasteur, who discovered microbes, would be held accountable for the disease-causing bacteria all around the globe. By analogy, the team in Wuhan should be awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine for their research on Covid-19 instead.”

Now, social media users are angry and are reacting to the news of China asking for a Nobel Prize for the lab.
People on Twitter believe that the lab was the original source of the virus and are now heavily criticizing the ministry for asking for a Nobel Prize.
Here’s what they have to say-
If Wuhan Lab in China deserves Nobel Prize for Medicine according to China; then ISIS deserves the Nobel peace prize too.
    — Shining Star 🇮🇳 (@ShineHamesha) June 24, 2021We must admit, the work of the Wuhan Institute of Virology really has touched all of our lives, hasn’t it? https://t.co/eicvXkz94v
    — Jim Geraghty (@jimgeraghty) June 21, 2021considering they want the Wuhan lab to receive a Nobel prize for identifying the virus, you'd think they'd do a better job developing a vaccine to fight it
    — MikJee (@SMikjee) June 23, 2021Yes indeed... nobel is always awarded for graound breaking in their respective field..... Wuhan virus was and is a Ground breaking virus in the field of Virology....
Just accept it was manufactured in Wuhan lab and every country would recommend for the Nobel.

Disney Plus Hotstar has dropped its action-thriller web series Grahan, which has been inspired by the novel Chaurasi by Satya Vyas. The series follows the aftermath of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots which also interlinks two stories from different eras. The show stars Zoya Hussain, Pavan Malhotra, Anshuman Pushkar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Teekam Joshi and Sahidur Rahman in pivotal roles.

It tells the story of a police officer, who has been made a part of Special Investigation Teams to investigate cold cases from the riots in Bokaro. Things take an ugly turn when she realizes that her father might be somewhere involved in instigating the riots of 1984. She wants to pursue the truth and it gets darker and darker with each passing layer of the story.
After the trailer, the show landed into trouble for hurting religious sentiments. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur even demanded an immediate ban on Grahan.
Well, the show is now streaming online on the OTT platform with people pouring positive reviews.
People are recommending it as a must-watch story and are asking people not to miss it. It’s because of the performances put up by the team and they are also hailing the screenplay. People also are rooting for it because it’s engaging and can be binge-watched.

Even the critics are rooting for the story and have given positive reviews.
According to India Today, “With eight episodes of 40-50 minutes each, the series can be easily binge-watched over the weekend. This might also interest the millennial kids in trying to find out about a forgotten chapter and one of the dark chapters of Indian history, which is not often talked about.”

An Indian Express critic said, “Overall, Grahan is engaging and will keep you invested through the almost seven hours of content. Even if ‘khoon kharaba’ or ‘investigative drama’ is not your cup of tea, you can give the charm of first love a try.”

With all these positive reviews by people and critics, the show can be added to your watch list.
