Samantha Akkineni has made a name for herself in the South Indian film Industry. She is one of the highest-paid actresses with more than 40 films to her credit in a career spanning just 10 years.

However, her fans absolutely cannot wait to see her in Hindi films. But Akkineni has a reason why she hasn’t signed a Bollywood film yet.
It is because she is scared. Of what, you ask? The talent in the Hindi film industry.
© Instagram/Samantha Akkineni
She spoke to an entertainment portal recently and upon being asked why hasn’t made a Bollywood debut, she said, “Because maybe I am scared? (laughs) The talent here is amazing. I am scared.”
She will appear in season 2 of the Hindi web series, Amazon Prime original The Family Man 2, in which she is playing the antagonist, Rajalekshmi Chandran, opposite Manoj Bajpayee.

In an earlier interview with PTI, Samantha had spoken up about how she doesn’t want to start from point zero in Hindi films.
She said, "In Hindi films, I don't have the energy to do the same thing again and get back to the point to where I want to do work that I want to do. In regional films, I am in a position to pick out-of-the-box roles but if I do Hindi films I won't get that opportunity."

She said she signed The Family Man because she felt OTT leads to more opportunities for everyone involved in the project.
“I would have never been keen to do a Hindi feature film and when I was given an opportunity to do a web series and play a role that is different, I jumped at it. OTT has opened up possibility for stars, actors and technicians from regional cinema," she said.

However, when asked about which actor she would like to be cast with in a romantic Bollywood film, she said, “Ranbir Kapoor.”
We think they would make a great pair for a classic Hindi rom-com.

Seems like it is going to be a little while until she signs a Hindi film. Until then, we cannot wait to see her in the powerful role in The Family Man, releasing on June 4, 2021.

Most people are scared of injections and don't like being pricked by a needle. Understandable. Popping a pill or gulping down awful syrup seems to be a better alternative.
There's a legit word for people who are phobic to needles, and it's called Trypanophobia.
In the recent turn of events though, while the world faces the adversity of the Covid-19 virus, some people in rural areas are hesitant to get vaccinated, but not due to the fear of needles.

In a small village called Sisaurha in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, a group of people jumped into the nearby river called Saryu river to run away from the vaccine.
The residents claim that people are dying even after getting vaccinated. A local farmer named Shishupal, said "People have died even after getting vaccinated. I know of those who have had to be hospitalised after the jab. Jab marna hi hai to vaccine kyon?"
© iStock
He further called the vaccine harmful and was seen spreading this false information to others as well.
According to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Ramnagar Tehsil, Rajiv Kumar Shukla, at least 200 people from the village fled their homes due to fear.
This event happened after the vaccination team was approaching the residents to get them vaccinated. Even the officials had a tough time convincing these people.
They had to make these people understand the importance of getting the vaccination. They bust some myths around this subject, after which only 18 people were convinced. Some also called it a 'poisonous' injection.

Another resident named Mohd Ahsan was also reluctant to get vaccinated. He said, "Is there a guarantee that we will not get infected after the vaccine? There are many in adjoining villages who rushed to take the vaccine and then got infected. Why is the government pushing for vaccination-they should give it to those who want it,"
Another rumour that was doing rounds in the village was that the vaccine could lead to 'impotence', making the men not take it all.

All this comes at a time when India is already facing a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines. Nodal Officer Rahul Tripathi mentioned that they would continue to talk about the benefits of the vaccination and banish any misinformation around it.

Remember Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?, or the Indian version, ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ that was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan? Well here’s a future fifth grader that you definitely won’t be able to outwit.

Dayaal Kaur, a 4-year-old Birmingham girl of Indian Origin was recently inducted into the Mensa Society for scoring a rather unbelievable 145 on their IQ test.
For the uninitiated, the Mensa Society is a group of the smartest people in the world, all of whom have unbelievably high IQs.
© AFP
To give you an idea, of just how prestigious the society is, consider this - Albert Einstein was a member of the Mensa Society and he wasn’t even their top scorer.
Still, for many people, getting a score closer to the famed theoretical physicist is an achievement in and of itself.
While Albert Einstein had a score of 160 IQ points at his peak, Dayaal managed to get a score of 145 IQ points, at the age of 4.
As she grows older, the chances of her getting a higher score increase exponentially.
© Wiki Commons
According to a local Birmingham newspaper, Dayaal learned the alphabet when she was just 14 months old and had started counting to 20 before she was 16 months old. By this time, she was also able to construct basic sentences.
Dayaal also went through a psyche evaluation, which recommended that she should be fast-tracked at her school, and moved up a year. Her parents, Sarbjit & Raj Singh are of course proud.
© AFP
Says Sarbjit, “I knew she was an exceptional child. I am biased, but it was crazy how quickly she was able to learn the alphabet and read. I could have a proper conversation with her when she was only two – it was incredible.”
© AFP
Sarbjit also says that quite often, Raj and he need to Google answers to Dayaal’s questions, as they simply can’t keep up. Dayaal is particularly interested in astronomy, and space.
Currently, Sarbjit & Raj are trying to get Dayaal’s school to fast-track her, at the behest of the Mensa psychologist, who evaluated her.
They believe that if Dayaal is not challenged adequately at this age, and is in the same class as other students of her age, she might get frustrated.
© AFP
The Mensa Society also stated that they only accept about 5 per cent of the applications that they get from the UK every year and that Daayal was in the top 0.01 per cent of the entire UK, in terms of intelligence, and mental acuity.
Imagine being that smart, when you’ve still got your milk teeth on.
No matter what room she’s in chances are, that Daayal will always be the smartest person in the room.

Days before the release of Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni’s much-awaited show The Family Man Season 2, it has found itself in troubled waters.
The trailer has received over 40 million views already and people have been waiting for it to start streaming but the show seems to have hurt religious sentiments. Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko has sent a written complaint to Union I&B Minister, Prakash Javadekar and demanded a ban on the series' second season.
For those who have been following the controversy, the show is accused of misrepresenting the Eelam Tamil community in Sri Lanka and the LTTE organization. It is claimed that the series is depicting Tamils in a bad light and branding them as terrorists. As per Vaiko, the show depicted “Tamilians as terrorists and ISI Agents and having link with Pakistan.”
An excerpt from his letter read, “These descriptions have hurt the sentiments of Tamil people and Tamil culture and offensive against the Tamil community. The people of Tamil Nadu are raising serious objections over such act and are protesting against the Serial.”
Here’s a copy of the letter:

Not just Vaiko, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman has also urged for a ban on the web series. He said, “It was unacceptable to release this web series, which fails to feature the humanitarianism of the LTTE that stood with high morality even when the Sinhala chauvinist regime violated the conventions and rules of war through barbarian attacks, use of cluster bombs, chemical weapons and massacring a large number of Tamils, Thamizhs.” Seeman also warned the makers of The Family Man 2 of dire consequences if the show goes on air.

If someone like Priyanka Chopra Jonas approves of your sense of style and fashion, then you know you’ve got a strong game.
© Reuters
Priyanka & Nick Jonas recently attend the Billboards Music Awards, also called the BBMA, in outfits that can only be described as bombshells.
While Priyanka Chopra Jonas was dressed in a stunning, custom made thigh slit dress from Dolce & Gabanna, it was Nick Jonas, who clearly stole the show.
© Instagram/priyankachopra
The outfit he was wearing was a great example of how one ought to go for monochrome outfits, especially when they have a light complexion.
The unstructured, baggy jacket, was brilliantly paired with a pair of matching pants. The suit is a custom-made set from Fendi.
© AFP
The idea to skip a belt was also a deft touch that worked brilliantly well with the hook & bar straps.
© AFP
We also like the chunky looking boots that Nick went for. They are very contemporary and have a very unique appeal, and they go perfectly well with the rest of Nick’s outfit.
These black leather winter boots come courtesy of Fendi, and they retail for about $995, or about Rs 72,000.
© AFP
His accessories game, however, is what sets him apart though.
Take a note of the golden wallet chain that he’s carrying. They sit in contrast to the rest of his outfit while striking a wonderful balance.
Now that’s the kind of men’s jewellery that we’re certainly down for - masculine and ultra-chic, all at once.
© AFP
The statement piece of his outfit though has to be the watch that he’s wearing.
Nick is seen here wearing a special edition of the Richard Mille RM 11-01 Roberto Mancini. The piece that we see on Nick’s wrist is the 18K Rose Gold edition of the RM 11-01.
© Richard Mille
Given that this is a Richard Mille piece, the watch had a very limited run. The piece that we see nick wear is even rarer than your normal RM 11-01s.
While there were about 125 pieces of the standard RM 11-01, only 20 pieces were made in the 18K Rose Gold colour.
© Hodinkee
That makes the watch an expensive timepiece. If you were to buy one from an authorised Richard Mille dealer, you would have to shell out about $190,000 or Rs 1.38 Crores.
However, given the provenance of the watch and how rare the rose-gold edition is, it wouldn’t be a surprise if resellers asked for another Rs 20-30 Lakhs more for it.
© AFP
Say what you will though, the watch surely looks dapper. As for Nick, well, when haven’t we gawked in awe at his outfits? The man clearly knows, how to dress to impress.

As if we already didn't have enough problems on our plate, a new disease seems to have arrived called the Black fungus.
The country's medical experts now have to grapple with yet another life-threatening health problem. It is said that this fungal infection has a 50% mortality rate.
We aren't trying to scare you but it says that the disease starts with the nose and then spreads to the brain. It can be treated by major surgery.
© iStock
Even though it's a rare disease, India has reported at least 7,200 diagnosed with the infection and around 219 have died until now. This infection is usually found in soil and organic matter.
It is caused by fungal spores and when inhaled by humans, it can cause the nose to turn black. It can spread faster with compromised immunity and can be fatal.
So far, many states including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc witnessed black fungus cases. Hence it has been declared an epidemic.
© YouTube/Wion
Amid the rising cases, now there's a case of yellow fungus as well, which is said to be more dangerous than the black or white fungus.
This is the first case and has been reported in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The symptoms of this disease include having a low appetite, feeling lethargic etc.
Some of its other symptoms include leakage of pus. It can also lead to organ failure, sunken eyes and finally to necrosis.
© iStock
It is advised that as soon as one notices these symptoms, they should seek professional help. The treatment of this disease is with an antifungal drug called Amphotericin B injection.
This disease is mostly due to poor hygiene. Now that we are all indoors, it's recommended that you keep the surroundings clean.
Discard any expired food items to prevent fungal and bacterial growth. Humidity inside the house can encourage the fungus to grow further. Hence it needs to stay between 30% and 40%.
© iStock
Union Health Minister on Monday added "Out of 5,424 cases, 4,556 patients have a history of COVID-19 infection. 55% of the patients had diabetes,"
As soon as the news of yellow fungus went live, people on Twitter turned it into a meme fest as the world is already dealing with the pandemic. We're truly in denial!
