The internet can be a bizarre place. Although, not nearly as bizarre as the world of biological sciences.
If men having unfounded anxiety about their penises and their size wasn’t enough already, a study led by a group of Japanese scientists has come to the “conclusion” that men with larger noses, tend to have larger penises.
    © iStock
“This study is the first to demonstrate the relationship between stretched penile length and nose size,” wrote researchers from the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine.
    © iStock
So, basically, what the researchers did, was examine the recently deceased body of over 120 men, and measured their noses, and the length of their penises, among a plethora of their things.

They discovered that men with snouts around 2.2-inch snouts packed larger penises that were longer than the world average of 5.2 inches.
    © iStock
On the other hand, cadavers, whose noses were shorter than 1.8 inches, stood at 4.1 inches. All those in between the two measurements were of average size.

FYI, the average Japanese penile length is about 4.5 inches.
How did they get cadavers to go erect, is a question that is best left unanswered.

If this wasn’t hilarious enough, the concluding remarks of the study, definitely were. It read, “the reason why stretched penile length and nose size are related is still unclear” and that they needed live study subjects for a more detailed study.

Twitter, meanwhile, had a field day with this “scientific” study.

    — Sudhish Kamath (@SudhishKamath August 6, 2017I took a picture of a very aroused elephant at the LA Zoo once. I can confirm that this factoid about nose and ***** size to be TRUE.
    — Scott (@the_real_scott May 4, 2021 You know what, that’s a good idea.
***** size should work like pinnochio's nose, but instead of lying it gets bigger every time you respect women
    — hot girl bummer (@notactuallyarat June 27, 2020 Another great idea actually, if you come to think of it.
I hope when I die they don’t use my body to conduct any nose to ***** size comparisons. I feel like I should put this in my will.

We all know about how horrible, certain bosses can be, especially if you’re a freelancer, working on a contractual basis.
Career experts always say that having a good boss is the most important blessing a potential employee can ask for.
    © iStock
Well, it seems that the internet has found out the Karen (or Ken, for that matter) of bosses.

A CEO of a tech start-up paid his freelance employees using cryptocurrency, back in August 2020.
However, now he’s demanding that his employees return the cryptocurrencies they received as salaries. The reason? The meteoric rise that cryptocurrencies have seen.
    © iStock
All this came to light, when one of the employees, wrote into Marketwatch, a stock aggregating and financial news website, asking for advice, as to how to deal with the situation.

The employee in question, says that he did some business development work on a contract basis, in which he was told that he would be paid using crypto.
Once the job was done, he raised an invoice, and he was paid accordingly.
    © iStock
Meanwhile, since he was paid, the value of this particular crypto (might be BitCoin or Ethereum) stands at 700 per cent of the amount that he was paid.

    © iStock
Seeing this, the CEO sent him an email, asking him to send back those bitcoins, and regenerate an invoice, only this time, he would be paid in American dollars. That’s not all, though.

The CEO also stated that since the employee’s work did not generate revenue, nor did he perform any “complimentary follow-ups” he shouldn’t actually get paid at all and that the employee was lucky as the CEO was generous in paying him something for his “efforts.”
    © iStock
If there ever was a classic Karen move, this was one of them, for sure.

Luckily, one of the financial experts came to the rescue, posting this on Twitter, and roasting the CEO.
He said that the CEO could be opening himself to a lawsuit, adding, "If the value of the cryptocurrency had fallen by 100% to zero since August 2020, would he want to pay you in dollars?
A reader also chimed in saying "If the value decreased, would they be paying you the difference? My guess is - NO!"
Another added, "It is an unconditional payment for a job done! Nobody can ask for it back.”
"This is not the kind of employer you want to be working for," said another user.
    © iStock
What do you guys make of it? Also, do you think it is a wise idea to pay employees using cryptocurrencies, or such incidents will only come up far too often? Let us know in the comments below.

With an abject lack of a strong health infrastructure and people not taking precautions, it won’t be very surprising to witness India getting hit by the third wave of Coronavirus.

K Vijay Raghavan, principal scientific advisor to India's government has already declared that the third wave of Covid-19 was inevitable looking at the current surge in infections.
    © Reuters
“A phase three is inevitable, given the high levels of circulating virus, but it is not clear on what time scale this phase 3 will occur. Hopefully, incrementally, but we should prepare for new waves. Previous infections and vaccines will cause adaptive pressure on the virus for new kinds of changes which try to escape, and, therefore, we should be prepared, scientifically to take care of that,” he said in his recent statement.

When people got to know about the news regarding the probable third wave, they filled Twitter with their concerns through memes.

"The third surge in India which is around the corner according to experts will affect children. So when a child goes to the hospital, the mother and father will also have to go. That is why vaccination will have to be over for this group of people. we need to plan for this scientifically and thus make an arrangement," a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud also added in his statement as quoted by Bar and Bench.

If people keep continuing to be reckless and the health infrastructure continues to deteriorate, the third wave will be more dangerous.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday (May 5, 2021), India registered 382,315 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the preceding 24 hours, pushing the nationwide infection tally past 20.66 million.

Joe Root is considered to be one of the most deadly and technically sound batsmen in the longest format of the game there is in today’s era of international cricket.
As a red-ball skipper for the England side, he has a sense of responsibility towards his country, his team and the millions of fans from all over the world.
Such expectations that come with the job often restrict the person from casual banter or having fun with his teammates and friends on the field and may lead to the formation of a serious personality around the athlete.
    View this post on Instagram
However, in a video recently shared by the official Twitter handle of England’s Barmy Army (the supporters of the English cricket team), Root can be seen doing something many would have never imagined him do - depants someone!
In the hilarious footage, the batsman could be seen crouching up behind veteran pacer Stuart Broad, and pulling his pants down in one go.
Quickly realising what was happening to him, Broad managed to protect his “reputation” but not before the entire episode was caught on camera.
    #TBT to @root66 pulling a fast one on @StuartBroad8 🤣

    @englandcricket pic.twitter.com/UCHGne521i
    — England's Barmy Army (@TheBarmyArmy) May 6, 2021
Pulling his pants up again, Broad began to chase his captain all over the ground but to the surprise of many, was unable to catch him, despite being one of the fastest cricketers in the team as of now.
Strange, a serious fast bowler couldn't get a middle order batsman #RootRunsFasterThanBroad

    — Tejan Shrivastava (@BeingTeJan) May 6, 2021The last time Root came to India, for a four-match Test series, he looked in dominating form as he struck a masterful 218 in the first innings of the very first match at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai before the pitch woes began to get the better of the entire English squad and India ended up winning the series 3-1.
Root will next be seen in action during the two-match Test series between England and New Zealand scheduled to start from June 2, 2021, with the first clash at the Lords’ cricket ground, followed by the second one at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
Virat Kohli and the Men in Blue will be touring England for a five-match Test series in August and September later in the year.

The filmmaker took to his Twitter handle and unveiled that Irrfan never registered or auditioned for the movie.

He wrote "Just to set the record straight I was meeting quite a few actors at that time and Manoj caught my eye because of Bandit Queen. I never registered Irrfan and I consciously remembered seeing him only much later when he came to the set of some other shoot.’
In an interview with YouTube channel Lallantop, back in 2018, Manoj said in the video "We were being considered for Paresh Rawal's right-hand role in the movie Daud. Kannan Iyer, who made Ek Thi Daayan, was assisting Shekhar Kapur in Bandit Queen. He was writing Daud movie for Ram Gopal Varma. Kannan told me 'Irrfan and Vineet have been asked to come, I am calling you as well, come. Ram Gopal Varma is giving the right-hand man role.
He further added "But if he is impressed with you, he could give you a bigger role in his next movie.' I asked how much money will I make, he said, ₹35,000 for that role."
He also said that he noticed Irrfan Khan and Vineet Kumar talking to Ram Gopal Varma, after which it was Manoj's turn. But eventually, it was him who bagged the role.
The movie also had Urmila Matondkar and Sanjay Dutt, for the lead roles.

People find love in the most unimaginable places and that’s exactly what happened with this girl from Lucknow. Nupur Gupta and a boy from the Netherlands, Attila Bosnyak, met in Goa and fell in love.
According to CNN Travel, the couple met in Goa in February 2019. Nupur was in Goa for a two-week period to teach Yoga. One day, in between her yoga practice she went for a swim in the ocean and didn’t know that the tide was too strong for swimming.
    © Instagram/Attilla
She swam further away than usual and was caught amidst the strong waves and also felt that she was getting pulled into the ocean. She then tried to swim away but couldn’t reach the shore and was soon gasping for air.

Then she saw a man coming towards her. It was Attila who tried to swim to her and grabbed her hand. He tried to pull her out of the ocean but wasn’t able to do that alone.
    © Instagram/Attila
He then waved to the lifeguard and he swam along with Nupur and brought her to the shore.

When the two reached the beach, Nupur saw that Attila was bleeding from his back, thighs, and fingers.
She said, “My heart sank when I saw that because it just made me realize that what this man just did to help someone, to help me.”
Since then they both started meeting and kept on seeing each other for the time they were in Goa. They later also kept connected on WhatsApp and video calls and later decided to meet again.

Then Attila arrived at the Delhi airport to meet Nupur and they traveled together to Lucknow, stopping at Agra to visit the Taj Mahal.

And in Agra, in front of Taj Mahal, Attila went down on one knee and proposed – not for marriage, but to be in a committed relationship and make it work. Nupur agreed.
Later, both got married to each other in March 2020 in a small wedding in the Netherlands.

Yesterday it was announced that 5G trials in India have commenced, however the Government did not grant permissions to Chinese companies for the same. Beijing has now expressed deep concerns over the move and said that it would not be "conducive to the innovation and development of related Indian industries."
    © Unsplash
The Indian Department of Telecommunications granted approvals to a dozen companies to conduct six-month trials for 5G technology. Companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and MTNL were given permission to test equipment made by companies such as Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-DOT.

Notably, Chinese telecommunications giants Huawei and ZTE who have been operating in India’s telecom sector for years were not part of the picture. In reaction to the move, Wang Xiaojian, spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India, said in a statement that showed, “concern and regret that Chinese telecommunications companies have not been permitted to conduct 5G trials with Indian Telecom Service Providers in India.”
“Relevant Chinese companies have been operating in India for years, providing mass job opportunities and making a contribution to India’s infrastructure construction in telecommunications,” Xiaojian said.
“To exclude Chinese telecommunications companies from the trials will not only harm their legitimate rights and interests but also hinder the improvement of the Indian business environment, which is not conducive to the innovation and development of related Indian industries”.

This is not the first time a country has left out Chinese players in the expansion of 5G networks. The US and UK have previously banned companies from using equipment from the two Chinese giants and many in India are demanding the same. Xiaojian said that China hopes that “India could do more to enhance mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries, and provide an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory investment and business environment for market entities from all countries, including China, to operate and invest in India”.

On Wednesday, The Times of India reported a set of issues that the BCCI failed to look after while setting up the Bio-Bubble for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League and ended up with an arrangement which was inferior to what they had done last year while in the United Arab Emirates.
IPL suspended for this season: Vice-President BCCI Rajeev Shukla to ANI#COVID19 pic.twitter.com/K6VBK0W0WA
    — ANI (@ANI) May 4, 2021
Basic issues such as ensuing quarantine for the hotel staff members and booking hotels closer to the practice venues to avoid unnecessary exposure to the virus were overlooked on more than one occasion.
Evidently, the situation has gotten so difficult that the public has started demanding resignations from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and even the beloved former Indian captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect: BCCI pic.twitter.com/3NaN3qgJdt
    — ANI (@ANI) May 4, 2021
Justifying his accountability, here’s what Sourav Ganguly had to say about the complete failure of the bio-bubble and the eventual suspension of the Indian Premier League.
"I don't think so [if the bio-bubble is breached]. The report we got is that there's no breach of the bubble. How it happened is very difficult to say. How so many people are getting (infected) in the country is also very difficult to say," Ganguly was quoted by The Indian Express.
    View this post on Instagram
"Professional hands around the world can't control it (virus penetrating the bubble). When it was happening in England (the second wave of the pandemic), there were cases in the English Premier League. Manchester City, Arsenal players got infected," Ganguly said.
"(Premier League) Matches got rescheduled. Because their season is six months long, they can do it. But our season is tight. Since we have to (release) players to their respective countries, rescheduling was very difficult," Ganguly added.

BCCI has finally stepped up to the crisis, deciding to help overseas players reach their homes, especially the Australian players who were banned from travelling back to their country until May 15.
The Indian cricket board has arranged for chartered flights to help the Aussies reach the Maldives while dropping players from nations like New Zealand, South Africa, and the Caribbean to their respective destinations.
