In a country where the LGBT are still struggling with basic rights and equality in society, even in the 21st century, Kerala is giving us a tiny ray of hope. Hope that someday people won’t be shamed for who they are anymore and the Indian society would be a lot more accepting and a lot less discriminatory.
A transgender activist Vijayarajamallika is bringing about a major change in the way transgenders live their lives in India with the proposal of a residential school for them in Kerala, the first ever in India! A lot of people belonging to this community cannot even earn their livelihood because they’re denied proper education, those who do get access to schools end up dropping out because of the shame we, as a society, associates with one being a transgender.
The school will aim to educate drop-outs so they can be taught IT skills and other development programmes so they can go out and live their dreams! The school proposes to prepare them for examinations equivalent to Class Xth board examinations.

"Even though organisations like Kochi Metro are coming forward to provide job opportunities for transgenders, the lack of qualifications is seen as a challenge among transgenders," said Vijayarajamallika.
"We are seeking a residential area in Kochi for this. The revised 2016 Budget allocates Rs 10 crore for welfare programmes of transgenders in the state and 58 NGOs have already submitted projects and proposals for the same. The practicality of such projects is doubtful. Therefore, we will approach the government for financial help only after it proves to be  worthwhile," she added.
Here’s hoping the authorities put a stamp of approval on this proposal and India takes a step forward in providing education and job opportunities to the transgender community.

‘Dil Chahta Hai’ – the movie that defined friendships for us. The movie that also defined ‘cool’ – be it those skin-tight leather pants or Aamir Khan’s famous ‘goatee’. The movie we’ve watched so many times growing up, we’ve lost count. But let’s see how well you still remember the movie. Think you’re a fan? Pass this quiz and prove it. It’s really tough. You’ve been warned.

There is never a dull moment with Ranveer, be it on-screen or off. His larger-than-life presence often permeates in his fashion choices too. He has definitely been, at least in Bollywood, the torchbearer of innovative menswear. When most of Bollywood likes to keep it safe in sneakers and jeans, Ranveer goes out of his way to wear skirts and kurtas with jackets—especially on the Red Carpet. Can you blame him? NO! Having said that, when it comes to good old-fashioned tailored suits, nobody pulls a sharper frame than him. Don’t believe us? Here are 7 times Ranveer looked absolutely smashing in a tailored two-piece:
A simple black suit always works like a charm

A grey suit with a matching fedora? Yes, please!

How far will you go to escape school or punishment for not completing your homework? Maybe pretend you are sick or get your parents to write an application on your behalf. Even if we think of the most extreme measures that one can take, nothing can get close to the strategy that this 19-year-old class X student in Bhiwandi used to get his school shut down for a few days. He came up with a plan to spark communal riots between two communities. The kid was later arrested and sent to custody, when he was caught on camera.
According to the police, he scribbled some objectionable messages on a piece of paper about his own faith and God and threw it inside one of his community’s worship places, located on his way to school. Failing to succeed in his first attempt, he threw a similar note 10 days later and it was then that his actions were caught on CCTV camera. The first note was sent on September 7.
    © wikimedia
When a few people found the note at the place of worship, they suspected people from another community to be involved in this. But before things could escalate and wreak havoc, the police took the matters into their own hands and urged the trustees not to register a criminal offence before they got a hold of the culprit.
The boy later admitted that he wanted the school to be shut since he was unable to finish his homework on time. Where do the kids get such weird ideas from? It’s crazy to even think of something like this, let alone implement it. This boy is clearly a genius to execute this plan, but had he put his ingenuity to better use, he could have done exceptionally well in his studies.
On a serious note, this is a very serious matter and no matter what, sparking communal riots is highly dangerous and religious issues are not something to be played with.

Each and every person in the country is lining up outside banks and ATMs to withdraw or exchange money and almost everyone has grown tired of waiting. One woman got so sick of waiting and decided to take some drastic measures. The woman stripped down at an ATM waiting line in Mayur Vihar Phase 3 in New Delhi in protest of the shortage of money caused due to the ban on Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes. The woman took off her shirt, leaving bystanders in shock.
    © YouTube
After this stunt, a few policewomen were called on to the scene to make the woman cover up and she was then taken to the Ghazipur Police Station. It seems the woman’s daring act was worth it as she was taken to a nearby ATM, after brief questioning, where she was successful in withdrawing cash. The police had conflicting accounts of the event. First they claimed that the woman involved in the incident was transgender and later on said that the incident happened within the limits of the New Ashok Nagar police station but the SHO there confirmed that he was unaware of any such event.

Eddie Alvarez has come up with a classy message for his fans after the disastrous fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 205. The knockout gave McGregor the second title as he became the only fighter to hold two different titles in two different divisions. He is the only fighter in UFC history to hold both the lightweight and featherweight titles at the same time.
This is what Alvarez shared on Instagram:
Congrats to Connor and his camp on an amazing accomplishment , these guys continue to deliver ,hats off to you fellas . As for my performance , the only thing I can honestly say was I fucking blew it ... I did nothing I trained , I did the complete opposite of what we planned on a daily basis for 10 weeks . To sum up our plan in a sentence it was "Go left and mostly wrestle " instead I circled into his left hand and mostly boxed . Fighting the way I did was a for sure death sentence and the result was fitting . I say it all the time, there is really small margin for error at this level and I paid for my mistakes . I managed to make it to the biggest stage and audience in my long career and fucked it all up when I arrived , my heart sincerely hurts and when I dwell on it I fill up with regret and anger . If there was a list of what not to do against an Opponent of this nature I did them all on Saturday . I am disappointed in myself and this is not a reflection of my coaches , training Partners , and the endless hours of training I commit to this sport . Every Time I get into the cage I negotiate being vulnerable and possibly embarrassed against the opportunity to do something great and Grow more . I always choose the latter regardless of the uncomfortability and anxiety it brings to me , I think this choice is the only reason I ever succeeded in the first place . I thought in my head at least making a lot of money would make me happy but I am having a lot of trouble enjoying myself regardless of the check thats going to be written , I am very uneasy and discontent for the most part . I am lucky to have my wife and my child at a time like this to help me laugh and smile and let me know everything's gonna be all right , they are my saving Grace , without them I am a shell of a man . Besides the outcome I thoroughly enjoyed fight week and the lead up , it was a lot fun . I have never defined myself off one win and I'll never define myself off one loss ,I simply had a bad night .. I'll have the opportunity again to have a good one ,, and I'll make the Walk to see what I got Everytime . Thanx for listening -EA

Alvarez congratulated Conor and his team for winning the title and also apologized to his fans for his underwhelming performance. After a very dissapointing fight, this honest apology from Alvarez might just do some damage control but he’ll have to come back stronger in the cage to win back his fan base.

Yeah, you may never admit it publicly but the truth remains – there’s nobody in this world who doesn’t like golgappas. Because all those ‘types of people’ at every damn place kinda videos were getting clicked AF, ScreenPatti came up with a much needed one on golgappa lovers. There are apparently 11 kinds and they’re all frikkin’ hilarious! Which one are you? Okay stop denying, you know you’re one of them too!
The next time I go out to eat golgappas, this is all I’m going to be thinking about!

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the much debated decision of demonetizing 500 and 1000 rupee notes, it seems that Delhi Chief Minister has made it his aim in life to criticize anything and everything that is related to Modi. Earlier, he took a dig at him for being featuring on a PayTM ad and even stated that PayTM is turning out to be the biggest beneficiary of the demonetization process.
Recently, when Modi’s 96-year-old mother, Heeraben Modi, stood in the queue to get her currency notes exchanged, Kejriwal didn’t refrain from slamming Modi for that too. He tweeted in Hindi, “it isn’t right on Modiji’s part to make his mother stand in the queue for politics. If needed, I would stand in the line but wouldn’t let my mother stand.”

After the Galaxy Note 7 was the victim of countless memes and was also depicted as a bomb in the popular game Grand Theft Auto 5, it seems like Samsung has a new contender from their catalogue that explodes in your face.  Just a few days ago in Canada, a Samsung device exploded due to a faulty battery and this time it wasn’t a Note 7.
CTV News reports that a man named Amarjit Mann was driving and he felt his Samsung Galaxy S7 warming up to very high temperatures in his pocket. As soon as he took out the fiery phone, the device exploded and filled his car with smoke.
Mann instantly threw the phone outside and suffered second-degree burns on his hand and third-degree burns on his wrists in the process. According to his doctors, Amarjit will not be able to work as a mechanic for the next 4 weeks.
A spokesperson for Samsung Canada stated "Customer safety remains our highest priority and we remain committed to working with any customer who has experienced an issue with a Samsung product,"
S7 owners should be worried about this incident but must keep in mind that freak accidents do tend to occur. It even happened with the iPhone 7. One handset’s malfunction does not entail that the entire S7 line will also have a problem. This is the first incident for Galaxy S7 and hopefully the last.

Calcium is one of the most commonly known minerals. Yet, a huge stratum of population is Calcium-deficient. We are repeatedly told that milk and milk products are the richest source of calcium which determines bone health. But is that enough information about calcium intake? Let’s understand a bit more about this essential mineral—what exactly calcium is and how much do we need, and also what other functions does it perform in our body.
    Understanding Calcium © Thinkstock
Calcium is an essential macro mineral (required in grams), majorly found in dairy products and to some extent in the green leafy vegetables. 90% of the calcium is stored in our bones and teeth. The rest of the 10% is stored in muscles and the cells. However, despite being beneficial for bone health, calcium also plays a pivotal role in maintaining healthy muscle contraction, prevents blood clotting and the nerve transmission in our body.
How Calcium Deficiency Can Screw You Up © Webmd
The deficiency of calcium leads to degradation in bone density, which further leads to a disease called osteoporosis. In women, calcium deficiency is more common and that is the reason women tend to suffer more with osteoporosis compared to men. Post 30, the body’s ability to absorb calcium slows down. Therefore, it is always a smart idea to consume the optimum amount of calcium-rich foods or supplementing calcium in order to fulfill the body’s calcium requirement.
Which Calcium Supplements To Use Calcium carbonate and calcium citrate are the two most common forms of calcium that are being used as a supplement. However, there are certain factors that should be kept in mind while consuming these calcium supplement tablets. Calcium carbonate is a comparatively cheaper supplement and requires an acidic medium, preferably lactose, for better absorption. On the other hand, calcium citrate is easily absorbed by the body even on an empty stomach, and therefore, does not require any acidic medium or any other meal to support the absorption.
Things To Keep In Mind · One can only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time.
    · Excess of calcium can lead to constipation and in extreme cases cardio-respiratory issues or kidney issues.
    Calcium Requirement © Thinkstock
    · As an adult, we require at least 1000mg/per day of calcium for optimum bone health. Athletes practicing at an advanced level or the people with severe calcium deficiency require 1200-1500mg of calcium per day.
Factors Affecting Calcium Absorption · Vitamin D and Vitamin K plays a major role in the calcium absorption level in the body. Deficiency of either of the vitamin can hamper the calcium absorption.
    · Excess of caffeine in the form of tea or coffee also reduces the calcium absorption.
    · Excess of other minerals like zinc, iron and phosphorus in the food can also slow down the calcium absorption.
    · Calcium absorption is higher with the presence of lactose and the good quality of protein.
    · Weight training enhances the calcium absorption by putting the mechanical stress on the bones that further accelerates the absorption.
Hence, if you are under 30, start filling your storehouse (bones and teeth) with calcium, and in case you are above 30, supplementing with calcium should be your priority to prevent diseases like osteoporosis, memory issues and muscle cramps.

Our phones are capable of storing thousands of pictures and it even helps us sort them chronologically according to the year and date it was taken. These pictures can be shared amongst various devices keeping your memories safe and sound. But, what about photos that were captured on traditional film? What about your family vacation pictures from the 90s?
Well, Google has launched a brand new app called PhotoScan, which will help us preserve our old pictures on our devices. Family portraits can be preserved easily as the app uses a phone camera to scan old pictures.
    © Google
However, there is a nifty feature that makes this app special. It eliminates any glare and shadows you might encounter while scanning a picture, which improves the overall quality of the scanned picture. The app will also crop out edges like the white border of a Polaroid picture (I might not like that, though). According to Google, the app will also be able to scan pictures that are in albums and frames to make your life a little bit easier.
    © Google
Then you are ready to scan a picture, PhotoScan will ask you to line up four dots on the corners of the photo and the center dot in order to get the perfect scan. The app will then take a number of pictures that will fuse them together to remove the glare and shadow.
PhotoScan does a great job in digitising old memories and it is a great alternative to simply clicking a picture of old photos via the phone’s camera. The app makes the subject appear clear and it neatly cuts the edges to make it look presentable.

Google PhotoScan is now available to download on the Play Store and the App store.

'The Rock', who left his successful WWE career behind to become a Hollywood superstar, has been on a roll with his hit movies. He appears in 'Baywatch' next year with Priyanka Chopra, and on receiving the call told People, "I thought, 'Wow, we've pretty much reached the pinnacle.' I'm not quite too sure where we go from here. I've done it all, this is it!"

All you need to do is enter your pin code, and the website will direct you to the nearest ATM which has cash. It also shows you ATM's in the vicinity which don't have cash (Like there's a shortage of ATM's without cash for us to camp outside).

The website works by updating data based on the feedback of users. So it's a website by the people, for the people. The feedback options include no cash, cash, and long wait. Enter your details and if you see an ATM around you with 'Cash,' get up, and run to the machine before everyone else reading this article gets there.
The website is called Cashnocash.com. Now get going. You can thank us later.

There are people and then there are voices. Sometimes, you fall in love with people; sometimes with their voices. And then, there’s Jose Gonzalez. It’s easy to love this guy. Never mind if you’re a straight man. He’ll still get to you because he has that kind of voice. He’s the silent man’s aspirational man. You want to be this guy when he’s playing his guitar and singing with that voice that is undoubtedly going to make that woman swoon.

Born in 1978, Gonzalez is an Argentinian-Swedish indie (http://www.mensxp.com/culture/music/32545-9-alternative-indie-bands-that-you-should-be-listening-to-right-now.html) folk musician who also has a band called Junip. He grew up listening to Latin folk and pop music, an undercurrent of which you will find in his music as well. You’ll also find a very close connection to a Coldplay number, or two. But, it’s still very distinctive of Gonzalez. The singer-songwriter is a fan of Bob Marley and Michael Jackson.

He released his first ever single in June 2003; it was a two-track 7” single. In October, he followed it up with his first album, Veneer in Europe and in 2005, it hit the UK. Some of his memorable hits have been Heartbeats, Stay Alive and Teardrop. Gonzalez’s trademark is his solo acoustic guitar music that really adds a whole new flavour to the music. His is the kind of music you can listen to on a rainy day, a long drive out to nowhere, or when you’re sitting with your group of mates enjoying a leisurely Sunday evening. It works like magic.
He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And his music has been background scores for popular shows like ‘Brothers and Sisters’ and ‘Bones’ and if you’ve seen ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, you’ll recognize Jose’s music, in a heartbeat.
The talented and world renowned musician is going to be performing at India’s very own Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Pune, coming December and it’s not worth missing for the world.

A week ago when PM Modi announced the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the country went into a tizzy. From hailing the ban as an effective solution to the black money problem to panicking about not having enough change to survive on for the next few days, we went through a variety of emotions. Every day, you witness long queues in front of banks and ATMs, every day you hear about people succumbing to the pressure of not having enough money or having more than what was allowed.

As the country scampers to function without enough cash flowing in the market, we realise it has been one week without it. And somehow we made it, because we are a privileged lot that has a house to stay in and access to online money to go about their day. The worst hit were, of course, the poor who depend on daily wages to survive, who don’t have access to online money, who don’t have the money to pay for internet even.

Reading about long queues at banks and ATMs, I sat back and looked at my Paytm wallet: I had enough to travel, and since I eat home-cooked meals, I was sorted for the crisis that was fast gripping the nation. Or so I thought. With Rs 200 in change in my wallet, I went about work and other things. Of course, I am the privileged middle class who has access to online money. I have my metro cards, my Paytm wallet, and my debit cards. I can order food online and I can buy groceries without paying cash.

When my phone decided to hang, I couldn’t book an Uber and took a rikshaw to the metro station. Parting with a Rs 20 note had never felt more difficult. When I was left with the last Rs 10 note in my wallet, I realized how every single penny counts. When I decided to walk home from the market, instead of lazily hailing an auto for the 10-minute distance, I realized how privileged we are to not have to think twice before spending. The humble tenner, which we spend without thinking twice, now seemed as valuable as a Rs 1000 note. For someone else, it probably is. For someone who earns Rs 50 a day, it means an entire meal.

It is a dead end kind of feeling when your last shred of currency peeps at you from your wallet and you earnestly hope you can make do with the money till the day ends. There is so much we take for granted in life. My online transactions too became minimal – such is human psyche, it programs you into becoming thrifty when there is shortage of cash in the country.
When we sulk about not earning enough, not getting a great appraisal, or not being able to afford passes to the Coldplay concert, we aren’t really in that bad a position in life. We are doing just fine. If you can afford to pay your bills, get 3 decent meals a day and go out once in a while, you have a fantastic life, my friend. Of course, it doesn’t mean ambition is meaningless and you shouldn’t aspire to better yourself – you can’t stop evolving and becoming better than you were yesterday. But it is no reason to fret.
I’ll be honest, the currency ban didn’t affect me as badly as it struck the poor – I had it a lot easier than a vast majority of the country. A lot many people I know, mostly in their twenties, had a relatively smoother transition. Yes, I had to postpone some tasks, skip the roadside chat, and commute more humbly.
But with this, I also realized that you don’t need that much to survive. I saved a lot of money in the past one week and realized most of my expenditure was not really necessary.  You can choose how to spend your money – to splurge it all at once or to live frugally and save up for a rainy day, or for a world trip even.

In 2009, before they eventually gave up on their contemporary bridge line ‘D&G’, Italian duo Dolce & Gabbana launched a collection of fragrances called ‘The Anthology’. Each fragrance was designed to suit a certain personality and although that line disappeared along with the D&G label, I'm going to use those 6 personalities today to give you the six best fragrances on the shelves in the hopes that one might match you.

The Japanese have done it again! This story is not going to make you feel very proud of your own country, just a disclaimer.
A massive sinkhole gaping in the middle of the Fukouka city took only 7 days to be repaired fully, which is approximately the same time it takes a person living in Noida to reach Gurgaon.
The road has been reopened and it looks like nothing ever went wrong!

That’s not all. A public apology was also issued for the inconvenience. The street is apparently 30 times stronger than before, claims the city mayor.
Not that this is going to change anything here in India but dear authorities, are you listening?

Most of the people in the country support PM Modi’s demonetisation move simply because it’s for the overall betterment of the society and a small inconvenience is justifiable if it’s in the larger interest of the nation. However, few are still complaining about the bad execution of the move by the government and this has evoked mixed reactions from the social media.
One of the most strongly opinioned voices on the internet, Virender Sehwag, stood out in support of PM Modi’s move and tweeted this from his account on twitter.
Shaheed Hanumanthappa waited 6days,35ft under snow,in-45°C,in hope of being rescued.
Surely,we can wait few hrs in line to rescue Our Nation pic.twitter.com/TKvpsZ3KCH
    — Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) November 14, 2016 This, however, didn’t go down well with some of his fans who thought that a soldier defending his country can never be compared to people standing in queues to exchange their own money. And many pointed out to him instead that he, of all, would never have to wait to get his currency exchanged in long queues.
.@virendersehwag Paaji, How many hours you have waited? Long queues are the results of Govts mismanagement in the currency distribution.
    — Sowmya (@SoGe89) November 14, 2016 @saileenas he has privileged banking. His cash would have come home :) @rowdursrini @virendersehwag
    — Priyashmita Guha (@priyashmita) November 14, 2016 @virendersehwag assuming you've been waiting in lines everyday yourself for hours only to find atm has run out of cash just before ur chance
    — Elizabeth Kuruvilla (@eliofkottayam) November 14, 2016 @virendersehwag So you will avoid all entertainment because soldiers are fighting for our nation in border , right?

    — Tiger Zinda Hai.. (@aquib_ak) November 14, 2016 @MsSantoesha Amazing how crorepatis are sermonizing the aam aadmi & invariably bring into play false binary of the soldier @virendersehwag
    — Ramana (@CRamanaKumar) November 15, 2016 Even though it’s true that we can and must try to be as patient as we can be to help the government fight the menace of back money, it is the duty of the government in turn to help simplify the process as days and weeks go by. The execution of the plan can be a lot better and expecting a bottle of water isn’t too much to ask for standing in queues all day long at the banks!

It has only been a few days since Donald Trump was elected as the 45th President of the United States of America, but it seems that the President-elect Trump is already swimming in a sea of troubles, thanks to his pre-election statements where he hinted at making things worse for China in terms of trade. In fact, major corporations like Apple and top car manufacturers will be among the ones to face a major blow in the U.S.
In an article published in the Global Times, China’s state-run newspaper, it said “If Trump lists China as a currency manipulator and slap steep tariffs on Chinese imports, China will take countermeasures.” Woah, this means that China has very subtly warned (read: threatened) Trump to not mess with the trade affairs else the country will have to face the repercussions. Earlier, in September, Trump said that if he gets successfully elected he would impose a 45% tariff on imports from China.

The article mentioned that China will take a tit-for-tat approach where cars and iPhone sales in China will suffer, U.S. soybean and maize imports will be halted and a batch of Boeing orders will be replaced by Airbus. Furthermore, China also hinted on limiting the number of Chinese students studying in the U.S.
Calling Trump a “shrewd businessman”, the article even mentioned that Trump wouldn’t be so “naïve” to fiddle with the trade agreements. “Trump as a shrewd businessman will not be so naïve. None of the previous presidents were bold enough to launch an all-out trade war against China. They all opted for a cautious line since it’s most consistent with the overall interests of the U.S., and it’s most acceptable to the U.S. society.”

Given the reputation Apple holds globally, it tends to become an easy target for politics. Earlier too, Trump made comments demanding that the iPhone-manufacturer should produce the devices ‘in its homeland rather than overseas.’ There was a time when he even called for boycotting of its products. Despite the political tension, Apple CEO Tim Cook, asked his employees to “move forward together”, although he refrained from mentioning Trump or his past comments.
The newspaper even mentioned that it’s a ‘win-win situation’ for everyone if the current agreements are maintained. Seeing their confident and fearless reply, one can figure out that there is too much at stake and if both the economies head towards a trade war, several industries in the U.S. will have to face the damage.
So if Trump goes by his words and China retaliates, then what do we do? Well, we might just sit back and read about the entire ‘episode’ on our iPhones, with popcorns in one hand.
