    Farhan Akhtar, along with his band, has racked up lot of live performances and played at tons of different venues. From college fests to the top music festivals to international venues, he has covered it all.

    DISCLAIMER: The eye-witness is an anonymous source who was present at the time of incident and has requested to keep his identity undisclosed.
    Be warned: These aren’t for the weak-hearted and will leave you feeling very disturbed.
    It was a bloody Monday this week when a 34-year-old woman was mercilessly stabbed to death by an auto-rickshaw driver who had allegedly been stalking her for the past few months, according to the victim’s family. And while it’s almost as if human life and free will, as concepts, don’t exist in our world, it’s also remarkable of how, to most people, every mishap is nothing but a spectacle. What else could you describe the incident—where crowds of people getting in and out of the metro trains just stood by and looked as 25-year-old Jitender stabbed the woman—as?

    What’s it like to be witness to a murder that’s being committed not just in front of your eyes; but, in front of the eyes and ears of thousands of people, at a public place, within the vicinity of the law enforcement officials? Do you speak up for savior, or do you stay quiet? 
    Abhishek (name changed)* was one of the individuals among the crowd that saw the gruesome events unfold right in front of their eyes. And this is his account of the incident that went down at the MG Road Metro Station, at 10 am on Monday morning. 
    “The metro stopped, as usual and some of us got out. Suddenly one of the boys ran ahead and snatched a woman’s hair from behind. Then, with a knife that he had been hiding away all the while, he slit her throat. The woman fell to the ground, immediately. But, that never stopped the boy. In fact, he began stabbing her all over her body. He did not stop! He stabbed her more than 20 times; I saw with my own eyes and I could not get over it. 

    A crowd did began to collect and some people did shout to ask the boy to stop but it was as if he didn’t hear a thing! I tried to step ahead and help the woman, or at least stop the attacker, but he began to threaten me; to cut my throat as well, if I were to do anything. Ll the while we shouted for the police to come; but no one turned up. It had been peak hours at the metro station and most of the police had been stationed at the entries and exits to monitor the crowds and the checking. No one even heard us shouting for help. Itna awaaz lagaya humne. Phir ja ke ek banda aaya tha CISF se. Lekin woh bhi sirf khara ho ke dekhta raha. The attacker only finally stopped when the knife fell from his hand. That’s when the people around gathered and began hitting him. They then carried the unconscious woman and took her to the police van.  The woman had still been alive till then. The police never turned up at all, during the entire incident. Only one official from CISF came to the scene but it was of no avail!” 
    He was so disturbed by the incident that had taken place that day that he did not go to work for an entire day. When I tried reaching out to him, for the longest time, Abhishek did not want to talk about the incident; busying and burying himself behind his laptop and work. 
    What Abhishek did manage to do was photograph the attacker after the crowds had thrashed him. The visuals are shown below.

    If you have ever believed that the wealthier people are, the more ignorant they become of other people’s pain, then science is going to back you up. Of course, not every one is a Warren Buffet or a Bill Gates who actually feel the pain of the poor and believe in helping the world. A recent study that was published in the Psychological Science journal at New York University shows that wealthy people pay very less attention to people who are poor in comparison to them. Like we don’t know it already!

    The researchers did a lot of experiments and all the results proved their theory. One of the pivotal reasons that explained the reasoning behind this behaviour is that rich people afford to have others work for them and fulfil their needs and this strong financial stability makes them invest in interpersonal relationships lesser than their less wealthy counterparts. Having strong interpersonal relationships is the ideal key to human happiness, as explained in a Harvard study. Wealthy people end up in major bouts of loneliness but it doesn’t seem to bother them at this stage.  Well, money cannot buy happiness but it easy to cry in a BMW, rather than crying on a bicycle, or that’s what the rich seem to believe.

    The last time Kodak was relevant, many of us were still in school. But, they've emerged from the ashes, and while photography is still their main focus, they've also announced a new smartphone called the Ektra.
    For those who don't remember, Kodak had released a camera called Ektra back in 1941. Even though it didn't do too well, some of the features on that camera were way ahead of their time.

    Back to the present, the current Ektra smartphone comes with a 21-megapixel fast-focus camera on the back and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.
    If that isn't enough to excite you, it also comes with an SLR-style dial which lets you choose from a number of settings including high-speed, HDR, macro, panorama, bokeh, and night-mode. It also has a manual mode where you can adjust ISO, exposure, focus, shutter speed, and white balance. 
    Its ergonomic form and large lens makes it look somewhat like a point-and-shoot. It even has a dedicated dual-press shutter button.

    The smartphone also comes with a pre-loaded app called Print which lets you place orders for physical copies of photographs you have taken. There are a number of phot-editing apps on this high-end smartphone too including Adobe Lightroom, Snapseed, and Prisma.
    We don't have too much information on the availability for this smartphone right now, but from what we gather, it is only going to be available in select European markets. It has been priced at £449/€499 and will be available in December.

    Right when you think that you have seen enough and there is nothing that can get more brutal than that, some morons prove us wrong by committing heinous crimes that will give you nightmares. Incidents of girls being molested have been on a constant rise in our country with victims as young as 5 to 10 years old. 
    In a painful and shocking incident, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Kaimur district, Bihar was allegedly molested and killed by men on a motorcycle who even ran their bike over her. The girl was on her way to write an exam when these men started following her, pulled her dupatta and then ran her over.

    Some reports suggest that one of the men pulled her dupatta which got entangled around her neck and choked her. The girl’s body remained motionless on the ground, yet those sadists showed no mercy on that poor soul and reversed their motorcycle and drove over her which led to the minor’s death. The culprits then abandoned their bike and fled the crime scene. According to the Superintendent of Police of Bhabua, Jagarnath Jla Reddy, a case of molestation has been registered against the guilty and an investigation is under process.

    As if the world wasn’t weird enough, now hair is being burnt off instead of being chopped off. No, we weren’t kidding in the caption when we said that there is a barber who gives haircuts using the flame of a candle. So, allegedly in Gulbarga’s Shahabad village, Dasharath of Raj Men’s parlour uses candles for haircuts, as reported by ANI News. Dasharath first burns your hair and then cuts it in style.

    He has been doing this for the past six years and has many regular customers. As if his hair-cutting style wasn’t absurd enough, its origins are also very fascinating. Dasharath stumbled on this style of hair styling when one day, the electricity went off in his salon and he thought of using a candle’s flame to cut hair. Here is the video of him cutting or burning off hair using the flame- Look, it’s damn weird but we wouldn’t mind a ‘hot as hell’ haircut!

    Sold at a Hong Kong Spirits auctions, the Suntory’s YAMAKAZI 50 was the most expensive alcohol in Japan since 2005, the year it appeared in the market. Its recent sale for an unfathomable 1.03 million Hong Kong Dollars has made it the most expensive standard format bottle whiskey in the history. Yamakazi 50 has been aged for 50 years and this prolonged ageing has given it a distinct sweet-and-sour character a musky, sandalwood-like aroma. Also, there are only 250 of these bottles, and that fact makes it even more rare.

    What is the Deep Web? What is the Dark Web? These are questions that tend to arise when we hear the term in many popular spy movies and TV shows today. It is a term that is used to describe a collection of websites that are visible but are very masterfully hidden from the general public. Most of these websites hide their IP addresses, which makes it impossible to identify who is behind the screen. 
    These websites can’t be accessed via your standard browsers like Chrome and Firefox. These websites are not indexed on Google or Yahoo either. Some of these websites are useful and some I would not dare visit again. You can buy anything illegal from many of these websites; you can buy a gun or a kilo of marijuana from Mexico. You can hire a hitman or even buy yourself a fake identity. The Deep Web is a murky place and I happened to explore it at length to find out what the **** goes on in there. 
    How Does it Work? Almost every website in the Dark Web uses an encryption tool called TOR. It also acts as a browser and many of these websites have a .tor domain, something you cannot access through any regular browser.  Tor or Onion Routing is free software that was developed by the United States Naval Research Lab for anonymous communication. The reason why it is also known as Onion routing is because the Internet is much like an onion and has many layers. 

    The internet that we know of consists of 8 billion websites from all over the world, and what’s shocking to know is that traffic to websites like Facebook, Google, Amazon and any other page that uses HTTPS or .com as a domain, only contributes to only 4% of web content on the internet.  These websites are only on the ‘surface web’. 96% of the digital universe is predominantly present in the deep web. These websites are protected by passwords and cannot be traced to their owners. 

    Not all Dark Websites in the Deep Web use TOR encryption. Some websites like the all-new Silk Road Reloaded use a similar service called I2P.  Silk Road was (maybe still is) a website for purchasing and selling recreational drugs.  Silk Road was the first modern black market website that caught too much heat and the owner was arrested and was incarcerated recently.  We will be talking about online marketplaces in the Deep Web a bit later. 
    Is it the Deep Web or The Dark Web?  You might think the terms are co-related but these terms tend to be different in definition. They don’t mean the same thing, as Deep Web is a term used for ALL websites that are present in the network including ‘Dark Web’ sites. Deep Web consists of all sorts of data which is boring and present for mundane reasons. 
    However, it is exciting and scary to talk about Dark Websites in general. 
    What Is The Dark Web And What The Hell Is Going On In There? The Dark web is a part of the Deep Web and it requires specialised tools and equipment to access. These websites are deep underground and the owners of the websites have very good reason to keep their content hidden. 
    Because of its nature, we cannot possibly fathom or determine how many websites actually exist with malicious content, but as I was researching the Deep Web, I came across some horrific websites that I would like to elaborate on. 
    Online Black Market Marketplaces
    The most visited websites in the Deep Web are mostly marketplaces that sell illegal drugs, pharmaceutical products and even pirated games. According to Trend Micro, an internet security firm, the user base that visits these websites normally like to buy and sell the following drugs:

    The deep web provides a platform for anonymity and that is the best motivation for people to engage in illegal activities. There is a cybercriminal underground and these activities can have drastic effects in the real world. Recently, the founder of Silk Road, Ross William Ulbricht, or better known as Dread Pirate Roberts, was accused of money laundering, murder for hire, computer hacking, conspiracy to traffic fraudulent identities and conspiracy to traffic narcotics. You might be asking why? That’s because his website ‘Silk Road’ enabled people to sell all of these services. Think of Silk Road as the Amazon of illegal substances and services. 

    The availability of illegal drugs is easily accessible and varies a lot on the Deep Web. Many of these websites sell cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelics amongst others. 


    There’s even a search engine called ‘Grams’ that indexes and allows people to easily search Deep Web sites that sell illegal drugs. Hell, they even mimicked the Google logo to set themselves apart from other competing websites.  
    Money Laundering and Counterfeiting  In the Deep Web, you never use your regular credit card or your debit card to buy stuff. Hell, you don’t even use PayPal for these services. A virtual currency called ‘Bitcoin’ is the dominant mode of payment and it is a currency designed keeping anonymity in mind. It is the ideal currency for illegal activities which is outside of the control of traditional banks and governments. 

    There are services available on the Deep web which makes it even harder for authorities to track your Bitcoin transactions. These services mix your Bitcoins through spidey networks and return them to you. Of course, they charge a small processing fee but this way it remains impossible to track. 

    Bitcoins can be exchanged for real cash; however, there is a wide availability of fraudulent currency on the Deep Web. This counterfeit cash is available to buy in bulk or per order basis. They are almost identical to the real thing and are made of 100% Cotton Linen Paper, which is used in most paper money today. These bills even have the appropriate watermark to make them look legit and can also fool any infrared checker that you commonly see in Bank today. Most of these bills can be detected by an infrared scanner but that does not prevent people from buying or selling it. These websites offer $20 Bills for half the price and other websites also offer Euros and Yen. 
    Guns  According to research by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the most popular item sold on the dark web are illegal drugs. MDMA and Marijuana are the most popular item sold, however, the sale of guns and other forms of weapons are catching up.  There is a dedicated website called The Armory, where users can buy all kinds of illegal firearms and explosives. And get this...they ship it all over the world!


    These sites have made it hard for authorities to effectively monitor them and it seems like the situation is not going to get better anytime soon. 
    Passports and Citizenships 
    Owning an American or an EU passport is one of the most valuable assets when it comes to travel and citizenship benefits. Being an American or an EU citizen certainly has its perks. They act not only as a document that will let you cross borders but one can open bank accounts, apply for loans, purchase property and even get state benefits if you are a citizen of a specific country. Unique documents like Passports and other powerful documents are faked and sold on the dark web. There are plenty of websites that claim to sell identical passports and driver licenses. They vary in price from country to country. 


    In fact, the founder of Silk Road, Dread Pirate Roberts, was caught because he ordered dozens of Fake IDs on the deep web in order to hide his identity from the FBI. These fake IDs were caught by the FBI and showed how extensive and accurate some of these documents can be. 
    Child Pornography  I am not even going to dignify this topic with a full blown paragraph, since it is simply inhumane and disgusting even talking about this. Child pornography is present in stupendous quantity and it needs to stop right now. Just make sure you don’t click on that Twitter logo if you ever decide to explore the dark web. 
    The Deep Web was invented with the sole purpose of fulfilling the genuine need of freedom and anonymity. It’s used by Governments to communicate with each other during a crisis, and journalists use it to leak documents that wouldn’t normally be available on the surface web. Civilians used it during the Egyptian crisis and it denotes that the Deep Web has far more use for good than evil.

    Cybercrime has emerged to be the dominant form of usage for users from across the globe. It is the platform for obscurity and protection these cybercriminals need in order to operate. It gives them an edge over law and order and they have been polluting a space that might be the future of anonymity in due time.

    I see a lot of unhealthy people trying to be healthy, avoiding cholesterol. Show them an egg yolk and chances are that they won’t speak with you again. These are the same people who clock in countless hours on the treadmill, cheat every Friday and hop from one diet to another but still stay fat.     In the year 1956, Dr. Ancel Keys, a noted American scientist conducted a study popularized as the ‘Seven Countries Study’. The study specifically stated that ‘dietary fat’ and ‘cholesterol’ caused heart diseases. In actuality, Keys cherry-picked only 7 countries where the data ‘mostly’ not ‘really’ supported his flawed theory, out of the 22 in which the study took place. Hence, ‘Seven Countries Study’. The study was quickly picked up by USFDA and propagated throughout America. Of course, the world had to follow suit. Dietary fat and cholesterol were now officially the ‘culprits’. As the study seeped into regular life, fat was actively abandoned. Sadly though, people were still not getting any thinner. In fact, they were getting fatter than they had ever been. Why? People replaced fats with carbohydrates. The study had to be questioned now.

    Simply putting it, fats don’t make you fat. Excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates makes you fat and vulnerable to heart ailments. Carbohydrates high in sugars and low in fiber are related to lower HDL (good cholesterol levels) and very high LDL (bad cholesterol). The triglycerides levels are also greatly affected by high carbohydrate intake. If you are consuming as much as 60% calories from carbohydrates and are predominantly a couch potato, you REALLY need to cut back!

    The most potent muscle building hormone is testosterone and the body can only derive it from Cholesterol. Yes, the higher the good cholesterol, the higher will be your T levels. So next time you take that chicken skin off or decide to dump the eggs yellows, think that you are wasting testosterone. But please, now don’t go out chasing high serum cholesterol. Just stick to eating whole eggs, beef, shrimp and cheese.

    Whenever Apple comes out with a new phone, the world suddenly stops. Even though the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are not exceptionally groundbreaking phones, they still retain that oomph factor every other phone manufacturer desires. The continuity of design has made Apple one of the most consistent brands out there. 
    The iPhone had the home button which was iconic to many of its users, but it’s now gone. Instead, they have replaced it with pressure sensors, and vibrations with haptic feedback that makes you feel as if a button is present there. And, of course, they removed the headphone jack. 
    Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack was the butt of all jokes, but if you really think about it, it was an act of confidence. Sure, it causes all of us a few inconveniences, but Apple feels it’s time to move on. They have done the same thing with some of their own proprietary products like the 30-pin connector, and they were the first ones to remove the CD drive from a laptop. So, we can assume that the headphone jack’s days are numbered.
    No Headphone Jack? How will I live my life!  Let me tell you one thing, I was probably the most pissed off dude on the planet when Apple announced that the headphone jack was gone. We’ve been using headphones for the past 50 years and we’re very used to the 3.5Mmm jack. It’s the only way we knew how to listen to music. It’s the only thing common between my grandparents and me. 
    The new lightning earpods that come with the phone feel exactly the same. They fit well in the ear and are good for calls, just like the older version. However, when it comes to listening to music, the audio quality did drop a bit. Even when I used my monitoring headphones that I connected via the audio jack adapter, the sound quality was good but not up to the mark. You see, a digital audio output can never be better than the audio output you’d get from an analogue device. At least with what technology we have available today. However, the inclusion of the lightning to audio jack adapter does not alienate people completely. 

    The real motive here is to push users towards wireless audio. Which is why they have introduced their new AirPods, which are essentially a wireless Bluetooth earphone which pairs up with the phone faster and easier than any generic Bluetooth headset. This is possible because of Apple’s chip called the ‘W1’ and custom software that is present on all Apple products. 
    However, there is one major criticism we cannot ignore. The phone cannot be charged and have headphones plugged in at the same time.  Unless you buy a separate accessory which will cost you a bomb! Considering the fact that we are already paying INR 60,000 for the phone, it doesn’t look like a sound investment. 
    It Actually Loves The Water Now
    With any previous iPhone, I always had to be careful when I was around water. However, with the iPhone 7, since it is water resistant I could use the phone in the shower with my waterproof UE speakers, I dumped it in a bathtub and I even put in a bag of full of water for a long period of time to see how it did. Much to my surprise, the phone survived every scenario in perfect working condition.


    It’s Got The Best Smartphone Camera, Period
    The iPhone 7 camera is the best camera in the market right now. This is not just a claim by Apple, it’s a fact. One needs to understand that most people upgrade to a new phone judging by the camera performance. The iPhone 7 has a new and faster f/1.8 lens which enables it to take pictures with fuller and wider colours. The image stabilisation has drastically improved and it easily outperforms the iPhone 6s, Galaxy S7 and other top tier phones. The only phone that comes close to its quality is the Google Pixel. 

    However, you must note that when you compare images from the iPhone 6s and 7, there isn’t much difference. The only way you can tell the dissimilarity is when you zoom in and that is where the iPhone 7 blows the 6s out of the water. 
    Home Button, What Home Button? The iPhone 7 has no home button. It got a reaction from almost everyone but hey, it’s not what you think. You can no longer ‘click’ the home button since it doesn’t move at all. Instead, it’s completely solid like the trackpad on the MacBook. 
    The Taptic Engine which jolts when you apply pressure is the feature that tricks your brain into thinking that you might be clicking a button. There are three different types of haptic feedback settings and it still feels strange since you really aren’t clicking on something.  

    I loved the new button, but most people in our office found it uncomfortable. It’s a matter of getting used to it. The Taptic Engine adds a lot of depth to the phone as it interacts with iOS 10 cohesively. For example, if you drop down the notification shade or do something similar, it gives you a slight nudge. 

    A nudge, that made me feel as if iOS 10 is alive and is responding to my commands. 3D touch is still hanging about on the iPhone 7’s display and it works just like it used to on the iPhone 6s. 
    Other Observations
    The iPhone 7 does have better battery life than the 6s as it lasts 1-1.5 hours longer. It would last for 6-7 hours with continuous web browsing, WhatsApp and music streaming while 3G or LTE was switched on. I used the iPhone 7 for Apple Music very often as I have a very long commute to work. I check Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and take pictures because it was part of my job.  With constant GPS use, music streaming and aggressively checking social media, the phone lasted for 13 hours for me and I still have about 10% left.
    The iPhone 7 has stereo speakers which makes the sound quality better and louder than before. Multi-tasking and playing games are as smooth as you can imagine thanks to the A10 chip. 

    The Final Say If you are a loyal Apple user, you need to get this now. Break your current phone, throw it in a pool or drop it from the top of your building, but upgrade it as soon as possible. The iPhone 7 starts at INR 57,000 and can go up to INR 72,000 but it’s worth every rupee. If colour preference is your choice, we must advise you stay away from the Jet Black since we live in India and it does tend to get very dusty.

    Just a few days ago, he donated Rs 5 lakhs to 10 families of the Uri attack martyrs and now here he is, in the news again, for the same glorious reason.

    He has just donated Rs 9 Lakhs to the family of the martyr Gurnam Singh, who was a BSF jawan, injured in Friday's attack by Pakistani forces at the international border in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. He finally succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, 23rd Oct.
    This is such an amazing gesture on his behalf and we are all the more in love with him for the true gentleman that he is.

    For some time now, desktops seem to have taken a backseat, thanks to our generation’s gradual bend towards laptops and MacBooks. But, things are about to get a little more interesting as Microsoft introduces its first ever desktop computer that turns into a digital drafting table and trust us; it’s going to blow your mind. This computer, called the Surface Studio, is Microsoft’s first desktop PC. Similar to the iMac, this desktop will be an all-in-one device.

    Talking about the design, the PC has a sleek aluminum body with 28 inch screen on top of a stand. In fact, Microsoft also displayed a new accessory called the Surface dial – this device augments computer mice and gives users a precise way to zoom into images and perform other actions as well. The display is touch sensitive and can be worked on with both your hands and a stylus well. There is also a ‘zero gravity’ hinge in the stand that allows you to position screen at an angle so that you can write and draw on it. In fact, it is this amalgamation of pen, touch and Dial that makes working on the illustrations fun and interesting. 

    The Surface Studio starts at $2,999 (around Rs 3 Lakh) and will be shipped in limited quantities this holiday season with broader availability in early 2017. In terms of specifications, the device is powered by the 6th Generation Intel Core processors that are accelerated by NVIDIA GeForce GPU for great performance and power. It offers 2TB storage, 32 GB RAM and 2.1 virtual surround speakers. It comes with four USB 3.0 ports, a mini display port, one SD card slot and an Ethernet port. This device is said to be compatible with the Surface Pro and Surface Book. According to Microsoft, this desktop has the thinnest ever LCD monitor with a 28-inch display that has 13.5 million pixels and a 4.5K ultra-HD screen. The monitor has a feature known as ‘true scale’ that helps the users preview designs in their real-world size.
    Do you think Microsoft is trying to remind us of how cool they are? Well, if that’s the case, we think their purpose is served, to some extent.

But, someone decided that they've had enough of the controversial Presidential candidate, and finally took a vicious stab at the star.

    In an exclusive, Deadline.com reported that a man disguised as a construction worker attacked the star yesterday in Hollywood, taking to the sidewalk, first with a sledgehammer and then a pickaxe! The man repeatedly smashed the star, using the axe to pick apart the letters in Trump’s name. No one came to the star’s rescue (obviously)—as pedestrians recorded the man on their phones, with one man even picking up one of the letters as a souvenir. Tragic!
