‘The Worst Kiss In The History Of Cinema’: Saif Recalls Kissing Shot With Rani

Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji are among the most loved and adored onscreen jodis in Bollywood from the 2000s era. There would hardly be any 90s kid who didn’t ship these two after watching films like Ta Ra Rum Pum and Hum Tum.

Before they recreate their undeniable chemistry on the big screen with their upcoming film Bunty Aur Babli 2, they recently found themselves reminiscing about the good, bad and the ‘worst’ from the work they did together in the past.

In a video released on Yash Raj Films’ official YouTube channel, the duo discussed when they first met, their debuts in Bollywood and the films they did together under the YRF banner. They recalled the kissing shot in Hum Tum which both were quite “uncomfortable” with and hence, it got awkward while shooting it.

Saif said to Rani that she tried to convince him before the shot to not go ahead with it because she was having cold feet about it. She asked, “Do you remember how scared we were to do the kissing shot?” To which, Saif replied, “I remember how scared you were to do the kissing shot.”

The scene they are talking about is from the title song of the movie.

“You said, ‘Listen, you say that you don’t want to kiss me.’ So I said, ‘I can’t say that! My boss has told me, so I have to do it.’ You said, ‘Listen, I don’t think we should do it,’” he recalled. However, in the end she reluctantly agreed. “And, it was the worst kiss in the history of cinema,  it was so uncomfortable. It made me so uncomfortable because you were so uncomfortable” Saif added.

Rani hysterically laughed and agreed that she was, in fact, very uncomfortable doing the scene. However, we didn’t notice it being weird on the screen when we watched it. Or maybe because we were obliged to change the channel as soon as it came on.
