There are more ways than one to start a family and not everyone goes the conventional way. Celebrities like Sushmita Sen and Sunny Leone have set an example by adopting a child and giving an unfortunate child a life they deserved. Now following the same path is another actress Swara Bhasker who shared that she is planning to have a child through adoption.

In an interview, the Nil Battey Sannata actress shared how she has always planned to become a mother and after seeing people who have adopted children, her decision got stronger. She did her research and decided to go the adoption way to start a family, on her own.

She said, “I’ve always wanted a family and children. I realised adoption was a way to marry these things. Luckily in India, the state allows single women to adopt. I met many couples who have adopted children, met some children who were adopted and are now almost adults. I read up on the process experience.”

She has already registered with Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) and is currently on the waiting list to be a parent which can go up to three years, she said. “I am now a prospective adoptive parent on CARA. I know the waiting period is long, often as long as three years, but I can’t wait to be a parent to a child through adoption,” she added.

She also said that she told her parents about her wish to adopt a child and they gave her their blessings. The 33-year-old actress is setting an example for young women by demonstrating that they can have a family even without getting hitched. Plus, celebrities who have adopted make a strong statement about this noble deed by giving a child a home and a life they could not have otherwise.
