‘Cricket Series Or Going To War?’ Indian Fans React To Pak’s Security Team For The Windies

Not too long ago, the head of the Pakistan cricket board Ramiz Raja made statements across the cricketing world that his country was once again absolutely safe for international teams to tour, play the game in, and spend some quality time with their mates, all the while giving a massive boost to their national economy.

However, his claims weren’t taken seriously when New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill’s wife received a death threat about her husband mere days ahead before the Kiwis were to begin touring Pakistan for a bilateral series. The Black Caps called off their tour and went back home. England followed suit and called off their tour while saying that the players were not feeling safe with the idea of visiting Pakistan.

A lot of drama has unfolded ever since. Raja called out the Western block (England, New Zealand and Australia) for cricket politics, and had guaranteed that West Indies cricket board that their players would be kept protected by the Pakistani forces throughout their time in the country.

Recently, the information about the security provided to the Windies squad was released by the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) and it seems as if Raja was successful in creating a whole battalion to look after the good health of the visiting side and make a global statement while doing so.

Here’s how the Indian fans of the game responded to the PCB’s ‘go big or go home’ tactic to ensure a peaceful execution of the Windies tour in Pakistan:

The West Indies are in Pakistan for a total of six matches - three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals. This is the Windies’ first tour in the country in three years, ever since they were in the country to play in the shortest format of the game. However, this will be for the first time in over 15 years that they will play ODIs in Pakistan.
