Allu Arjun’s 'Pushpa’ In Trouble As People In Karnataka Call For Its Boycott & Here's Why

After the all-time blockbuster that was Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Allu Arjun is returning to the big screen with possibly the biggest film of his career, Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1

The movie is slated to be a pan-India release and is touted to be Allu Arjun’s official introduction to a majority of the North Indian audiences.

Besides Telugu and Hindi, Pushpa is also releasing in other Indian languages like Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

However, ahead of the film’s nationwide release this Friday, Kannadigas (Kannada people) took to Twitter and called for the boycott of the film.

#BoycottPushpaInKarnataka is trending on Twitter and the reason behind it is that the distributors have allotted only a number of shows of Pushpa in Kannada dubbed version in the state.

Kannadigas are furious that most of the shows of Pushpa are in the original Telugu version despite the movie being dubbed in Kannada.

Expressing their anger and disappointment over the allotment of the shows in Karnataka, they have started calling for the film’s boycott in the state.

One user wrote, “Dear @alluarjun, why are you dumping Telugu version in Karnataka when you have Kannada version? You and your marketing team has got it all wrong. This is not going well with Kannadigas. I won't watch Pushpa unless released in Kannada across Karnataka. #BoycottPushpaInKarnataka”.

Another user tweeted, “Special Ops, Arya are 2 major series and Jai Bhim, Soorarai potru are 2 movie watched in Kannada on OTT and have loved them, connected to them. So I wish all movies hereby that comes to Kar from outside should be in Kannada. #BoycottPushpaInKarnataka”.

Some places in #Karnatakathey prefer original version of the film , but the problem here is the places where 90-95 % people speak kannada and you don't get enough screens in that district .#BoycottPushpaInKarnataka- is not the solution , anyway we have to healthy relationship

If you want to release ur movie in Karnataka better release Kannada version more than any version. What is this? #BoycottPushpaInKarnatakaif we leave this, then #RRRand #RadheShyamhave same type of release in #Karnataka#serve_in_my_language

3 shows have less than 5% fillings correct. But these 3 shows aren't in prime screens. Waste theaters. Release in mantri, orion like that. seats will fill. (Similar to AMB , Prasad's in HYD)

If there was no dubbed versio no one would trend #BoycottPushpaInKarnataka

Utter shameless folks in KFI.
I was planning to watch #PushpaTheRise in Kannada this weekend.

Now decided not to watch.#BoycottPushpaInKarnataka

Until these numbers in the picture reverse for Telugu and Kannada, Kannadigas should boycott #PushpaTheRise . pic.twitter.com/Oxxve5hne6

On the other hand, there were also those who defended makers opting for more Telugu version screening in Karnataka over the local language Kannada dubbed version.

One user wrote in response, “Why will market forces allot more shows to Kannada when even the 3 shows allotted are not filling up? We may come up with the old reason of ಇಷ್ಟು ವರ್ಷ ನೋಡಿ ನೋಡಿ ರೂಡಿ but that won't cut ice anymore. #BoycottPushpaInKarnataka”.

Another posted, “Really!! #BoycottPushpaInKarnataka ? It's all about SUPPLY - DEMAND. If they rls Telugu version there say 100 they can have 50+ shows in full occupancy basis get packed. Whereas if they release 100 in Kannada version merely 10-20 may get filled. What's wrong here. #Pushpa”.
