Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma is one of the longest running shows on Indian television and is a big part of everyone’s life. It's that one show every family has enjoyed watching at some point. The characters of Taarak Mehta, Daya, or everyone’s favourite, Jethalal are iconic in their own accord.

However, if one tells you that actor Dilip Joshi, who plays Jetha Lal in the show, was originally offered to play another character, you’d feel weird. Why? Because we simply cannot imagine him doing any other role on this show!

In an interview, Dilip spoke about the show and his character once, and revealed some surprising information. Apparently, he was offered the role of Champak Lal, and later the makers actually asked him to pick between Champaklal and Jethalal.

The makers eventually agreed that the role didn’t suit him much and he fit the role of Jethalal better, and well, there was no looking back! Aren’t we glad that he took up this role?
