‘Lucknow Is Finished’ IPL Team's Birthday Wish For Dravid Triggers Kohli Fans & Here's Why

Rahul Dravid, who celebrated his 49th birthday on Tuesday, is probably the most versatile cricketer to have ever donned the Indian jersey. He played as an opener, played at number three, kept wickets and even bowled to allow the team to be as flexible as possible.

After retiring from international cricket, Dravid took over as the head of National Cricket Academy and helped nurture young talent to excel at the big stage.

The former India captain was brought in by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the replacement for Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the men's senior team.

Among the numerous birthday wishes that flooded social media, one came from one of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises -- Lucknow.

Wishing Dravid, the official page of Lucknow called 'The Wall' as the greatest number three batter India ever produced. Dravid's numbers are impeccable and most of the fans agreed with the new IPL team.

However, a few of Virat Kohli fans were not on the same page and let their disapproval be known on Twitter.

Dravid, who played a major chunk of his career at number three, is one of the leading run-scorers from the country in Tests as well as One-Day Internationals.

Dravid represented India in 164 Tests and scored 13,288 runs with the help of 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries. In the 50-over format, Dravid scored 10,899 runs in 344 ODIs.

On the other hand, Kohli, who is still an active member of the Indian team, has dominated the limited overs format but in Tests, he is still falling behind many of the former legends India has produced.

While Kohli is yet to match the bar set by the current head coach of the team, it is safe to say that he is well on course to earn a legendary status in Indian cricket.

It will not be wrong to say that Kohli has single-handedly revolutionised the way Men in Blue function, be it rubbing off his aggressive instincts on his fellow teammates or introducing a new fitness regime to take the team to the next level.
