Atrangi Re actor Dhanush and his wife Aishwaryaa, Rajinikanth's eldest daughter, startled fans and well-wishers when they announced their separation recently. After being together for 18 years, the couple has decided to part ways in order to "take time to understand" themselves as individuals. Both of them announced the news on social media and shared identical statements. 

Dhanush wrote, "8 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better". 

Aishwarya issued a similar statement on Instagram. She captioned it as, "No caption needed…only your understanding and your love necessary!"

Amid Dhanush and Aishwaryaa's divorce rumours, their fans are extending their support to the estranged couple as well as Rajinikanth. However, in a recent interview, the actor's father Kasthuri Raja has hinted that their split may be temporary. Yes, you read that right!

Calling Dhanush and Aishwaryaa's separation "a family quarrel", Raja shared that the split has taken place only because of a disagreement. He told Dailythandhi newspaper, "It is a family quarrel that usually takes place between a married couple". This is not a divorce apparently, Raja added. He also revealed that "Dhanush and Aishwaryaa are not in Chennai at present. Both are in Hyderabad. I spoke to both of them over the phone and gave them some advice".

Well, we just hope that Dhanush and Aishwaryaa resolve their issues and reconcile soon. 

For the unversed, the duo tied the knot in 2004 and was said to be in a happy space. Dhanush and Aishwaryaa are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga. They welcomed their first child, Yatra, in 2006 while Linga was born in 2010.
