Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar film was truly in a class of its own.

The movie, directed by Imitiaz Ali, not only had an amazing plot, but also made use of Ranbir's overall acting versatility, making his role of Jordan one of his finest roles to date.

Rockstar was not only a great movie for Ranbir's career but also was the perfect debut for actress Nargis Fakri, who played the role of Heer opposite Ranbir.

Now, while it's been more than a decade since the release of the film, both Ranbir and Nargis' roles will forever be etched in our memories.

However, did you know that the role of Heer was actually written for Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone?

It was reported that director Imtiaz Ali originally had Deepika in his mind and wanted her to star in the film.

Recalling the incident, Imitiaz, revealed what went down when he first met Deepika for the same.

Imitiaz, who had written a heartfelt note for Deepika on her website, had revealed, “She (Deepika) got off the car at the hotel porch and looked at me. I immediately knew that this is the girl I have come to meet. She also immediately knew that I am the director she had come to meet because she had those eyes, that looked as if they know.”

It was reported that Deepika was to make her debut in Rockstar, however, there was a change of fate.

“None of Deepika’s movies had been released till then. I had come to meet her for Rockstar. I wanted her for Rockstar but the movie did not get made till many years later. I worked with her in other movies. Many things happened over many years at many places, all of which I might forget, but I will never forget the girl who stepped out of the car at the hotel and looked at me as if she knew.” said Imitiaz.

Well, later Deepika made her debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, and the rest is history.

It had also been earlier reported, that instead of Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor was also one of the choices to play the role of Jordan in Rockstar.

While Shahid will be seen in the cricket film Jersey, Deepika, on the other hand, will star in her upcoming film Gehraiyaan alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.

Well, fair to say that even if she was not a part of a movie like Rockstar, Deepika has done exceptionally well for herself.
