It’s raining pan-India releases! After the spectacular success that was Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise, it’s time for Ravi Teja’s Khiladi. 

The film, directed by Ramesh Varma, marks the first official introduction of Telugu superstar Ravi Teja to the North Indian audience. 

He is already a known face in the Hindi speaking belts with the huge success of Hindi dubbed Telugu films like SS Rajamouli’s Vikramarkudu (remade in Hindi as Rowdy Rathore), Kick (remade in Hindi as Kick), Nela Ticket and Veera among others.

However, in the last few years, he was going through a low phase until Krack was released in 2020 and he delivered a much-needed success. 

With the pan-India release of Khiladi, the makers have opted for a similar route that Pushpa: The Rise, or KGF: Chapter 1 makers took, i.e low promotions and targeting tier 2 and 3 cities in Hindi speaking belts. 

We saw how Pushpa had almost zero promotions and opened low, but due to Allu Arjun’s popularity and the content of the film that was loved by the audience, it became a nationwide rage.

The film that opened to a Rs 3 crore mark eventually collected over Rs 100 crore and is still going steady at the box office even after over a month of its release. 

The buzz around Khiladi as it was released today is even lower than Pushpa, plus, unlike Allu Arjun who has had a row of blockbuster films, Ravi Teja is still recouping at the box office. 

So, will Khiladi establish Ravi Teja’s pull at the box office and also turn him into the next pan-India star like Allu Arjun, Prabhas and Yash? 

The initial reaction to the film is positive. One fan tweeted, “#khiladi first half dinemma interval bang !!! Paid trackers enta cheppina word of mouth is very good here in banglore”.

Another wrote, “Ravi anna masss Music dsp Heroines Migata anta scrap...Gk vishnu shot chesina portions bagunayi.... #khiladi”. 

There was another who didn’t like the film and called it routine and average, “#Khiladi pathetic very much average very much routine and very much disappointing Arjun ni joker chesaru heroine are jst used as Dolls jst to show their Figure that's it totally shit movie with crap direction and music worst man i thank movie team for not promoting this shit”.

Despite zero promotions, Khiladi Hindi is also sold out at a few places in Delhi, it has to be seen if this momentum continues over the weekend or not. For that, the content of the film has to be liked by the people.

If that happens, there is no doubt that Khiladi will head the Pushpa and KGF way and Ravi Teja will join Allu Arjun, Prabhas and Yash as the next pan-India star.
