Deepika Padukone's Gehraiyaan, also starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa in pivotal roles, premiered last week on Amazon Prime Video and opened to mixed response. While a section of moviegoers has appreciated the romantic drama, others aren't able to connect with the theme or tone and have bashed the film. However, Deepika is getting a positive response for her performance from fans. 

Due to the huge pre-release buzz, many people watched Gehraiyaan as soon as the film premiered on Amazon Prime Video and it was even trending on Twitter over the weekend. After its release, last week, the movie got 6.5 million views and became the second most-watched on OTT. However, another Bollywood actress' web series has beaten Deepika's film to become the most-watched of the week. 

Well, we're talking about Richa Chadha-starrer The Great Indian Murder. Yes, you read that right! The Disney+Hotstar series, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is the most-watched web series or film of last week. According to Film Companion, The Great Indian Murder got 6.8 million views which is amazing. Based on Vikas Swarup's novel named Six Suspects, the series also features Pratik Gandhi, Ashutosh Rana, and Raghuvir Yadav in pivotal roles. 

SonyLiv's Rocket Boys in on the third spot with 3.2 million views followed by Raktanchal 2 (MX Player) and Taapsee Pannu's Loop Lapeta (Netflix) on the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. 

Coming back to Gehraiyaan, it is jointly produced by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions, and Jouska Films. The movie is a complex relationship drama that revolves around infidelity, love, and betrayal. 

With the film, Shakun Batra has returned to direction five years after the release of Kapoor & Sons. Also, the Amazon-original movie marks Deepika's first full-fledged role ever since the release of Chhapaak in January 2020. However, she was last seen playing a small role in hubby Ranveer Singh's sports drama 83. The actress played Kapil Dev's wife Romi Bhatia in the biopic helmed by Kabir Khan.
