Bollywood star Ranveer Singh made his acting debut opposite Anushka Sharma in the 2010 hit Band Baaja Baaraat. Later, in 2011, they appeared together in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and fans loved their onscreen chemistry in both films.

Back then, they were rumoured to be dating each other and even appeared together on Karan Johar's popular chat show Koffee With Karan.

Ranveer and Anushka were at their candid best in the episode and some of their statements courted controversies too. 

The Gully Boy star, in a jest, made a remark on the actress which was deemed as 'sexist' and 'inappropriate' on social media. A small clip from the Koffee With Karan had gone viral in which the actor commented on Anushka's 'a**'. 

In a throwback video from 2011, Ranveer and Anushka can be seen sitting next to each other and are chatting with KJo in the third season of his chat show. 

In the clip, the actor looked at Anushka and said, "Hey, you want your a** pinched? I’m right here!". No wonder it didn't go down well with people. 

This statement left Anushka stunned, who looked at the show's host in shock. Johar, who too was surprised with the comment, laughed it out. 

The actress, who looked visibly uncomfortable, retaliated by repeatedly hitting Ranveer on the arm and saying, "Don’t talk to me like that," making it clear that she didn't like the statement.

After the episode was aired, Ranveer received a lot of flak for his inappropriate comment. Back then, social media users also criticised Karan for laughing along and not calling out the actor for what he said. 

For the unversed, Ranveer and Anushka reportedly dated each other for around two years after they came close to each other while shooting for their initial films. Post their split, the duo remained cordial and even worked together in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do which was released in 2015. 

Both of them have moved on in their lives and are happily married now. While Anushka exchanged wedding vows with cricketer Virat Kohli in 2017, Ranveer tied the knot with Deepika Padukone in 2018. 

On the career front, Ranveer was last seen in Kabir Khan's 83 which underperformed at the box office amid the ongoing pandemic, despite getting critical acclaim. He currently has projects like Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Cirkus, and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in his kitty.  

Anushka, on the other hand, was last seen in the 2018 release Zero and took a break from films.  

She welcomed her first child with her husband Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, baby girl Samisha, in 2021.  

After a gap of around 4 years, she is now set to make her acting comeback with Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami's biopic titled Chakda Express.
