Kangana’s 'Lock Upp' Is Being Called A ‘Sasti Copy’ Of ‘Squid Games’ & No One Is Surprised

It’s been a week since Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut's reality show Lock Upp has premiered on an OTT. With 14 controversial celebrities, all locked up in a prison that is being run by Ranaut, the show was bound to create a stir of TRPs and controversies, and it very well has.

However, the audience has had a different reaction towards the show, one where they have managed to compare it to two different hit shows - Bigg Boss and Squid Games.

The Korean thriller-drama that took the world by surprise with it’s concept, Squid Games was one of the most popular and viral TV shows, and well for good reason. However, when fans compared Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp to Squid Games, it wasn’t as flattering as one may think.

Calling it a ‘sasti copy’, Ekta Kapoor’s reality show was dissed by people on twitter who were simply not impressed and called the concept of the show ‘unoriginal’.

For the uninitiated, the show requires all the contestants to be locked in jail for 75 days, where they have to cook their own meals, perform tasks and just somehow make the ends meet until they can be let out.

Meanwhile, some people have even criticized the selection of the contestants, claiming that they have all been picked out strategically to just create a hype for the show. A user named Vipin Lyricist wrote, “Scripted+BigBoss+Squid Game+Zero Acting+Unreal Hosting+Politically Motivated+ Rough Screenplay= LockUpp #LockUpp #Lockup Selection of contestants to just make hype of the show (Television की भाषा में T.R.P).”
