After releasing the first look posters and teaser, the makers of Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah-starrer Jalsa have finally unveiled the trailer today (March 9). Interestingly, Kahaani too was released on the same date, a decade ago, and opened to huge critical acclaim. 

Jalsa, which is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, will see the two powerhouse performers sharing the screen space for the first time. While Vidya plays a journalist in the intriguing investigative thriller, Shefali is essaying the role of her cook and a furious mother.

Taking to social media, Jalsa lead actress Vidya Balan shared the trailer with fans. On Twitter, she wrote, "Truth is stranger than fiction! #JalsaOnPrime, coming 18th March @PrimeVideoIN. Trailer out NOW!"

According to the 1-minute-57 second trailer, Jalsa looks like a gritty crime drama in which Shefali plays a grieving mother Ruksana whose daughter dies in a brutal accident. As she fights for justice, Vidya's character tries to help her. Overall, the trailer looks promising, thrilling, and intriguing with both the actresses playing meaty characters. 

The film's official synopsis reads, "A hit and run of an 18-year-old girl becomes the hub of a wheel that sets into motion many a spoke – a journalist, a raging mother, a cop, and a system all caught in an ethical dilemma. Questions raised only to realize that the truth is rarely pure and never simple".

On social media, the trailer is getting a positive response with netizens giving it a thumbs up. Reacting to the Jalsa trailer, a user tweeted, "What a fantastic trailer..what a day to release it..10 years of Kahaani and the g.o.a.t has come up with what looks like a whodunit thriller with the formidable @ShefaliShah_ hope Suresh Triveni after Tumhari Sulu is going to take it to another level".

Directed by Tumhari Sulu fame Suresh Triveni, Jalsa will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 18 in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide. The film also features Manav Kaul, Iqbal Khan, Rohini Hattangadi, Vidhatri Bandi, among others in pivotal roles.
